ESAD Blog Hop | 2020 Annual Catalogue

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for another ESAD Blog Hop.

The theme today is 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue and it’s going to be a wonderful journey through some new catalogue favourites.  Demonstrators had a period of time to pre-order from a selected list of new catalogue items during May.  From 3rd June, we’ve been able to order from the entire catalogue, so I’m excited to see what people are making with the products they were desperate to get their hands on.

I had a few bundles and accessories which I was super excited to get hold of (see here for my top picks from the catalogue), but there’s always a whole category for me that’s a must have – and that’s the DSP.

Once again the new patterns haven’t disappointed and I’m loving the range of florals, patterns & textiles that we can play with for the next 11 months.  It’s always hard to choose an absolute favourite, but two of the patterns that have most tickled my fancy are the animal designs – Whale of a Time and Playful Pets.  I shared the cute whale and turtle designs on Friday (see here if you missed it).

Today I’m sharing a One Sheet Wonder card set made using Playful Pets DSP.  I wanted a dog theme so the 6″x6″ page is the dog acessories page (bone, paw print, bowl & collar).  I’ve used more of the DSP as embellishments (there’s two pages filled with different types of dogs) – fussy cutting out the cute canines to be the highlight of the cards.

Using the images from DSP as features on cards saves me so much time because the colouring is already perfect!  I just need to spend a little time fussy cutting (which I don’t mind) and it’s all ready to put together.

The cardstock base is Gray Granite (despite looking very much like Crumb Cake in these photos) with Early Espresso mats and Real Red accents.

Here’s a look at each card…

I used sentiment stamps from Peaceful Moments (happy birthday), Massive Thanks (thank you) & Forever Fern (hello), leaving the fourth card blank for an all occasion option.

Here’s the template for the One Sheet Wonder (you can see the original post with instructions by clicking here).

Half of the designs in the Playful Pets pack are cat themed.  Should I make another one sheet wonder for all the cat lovers???

The reverse side of this pack has awesome black, white & red patterns.  It’s a fabulous mix and ready to create amazing projects!

For more temptation and new catalogue inspiration, keep hopping along.  I’m last on the list, but be sure to click through to my gorgeous friend Nicole Wilson if you didn’t start at the beginning.  If there’s any broken links or missing posts, use the full participant list the bottom of this post to navigate through.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop | Spooky Night & Painted Autumn

Hello Sunday!

The fourth Sunday in fact, which is when I get together with my Stamping Sunday friends.

You can find the whole list of participants by clicking on the cute little blue frog!!  You’ll find a direct link to Yvonne’s blog at the end of the post to keep hopping.

Today it’s all about one of my favourite subjects – Designer Series Paper, or “DSP”.

Sara has asked us to create using either the Painted Autumn DSP or Spooky Night DSP.  But…. it can’t be a fall (autumn) or Halloween project!

I love a challenge to make “something” into “something else”.

Although I love all DSP, and usually buy every pack, I skipped on Spooky Night this catalogue.  Halloween isn’t as popular in Australia and I still have some similar colours left from last year!

I do however, absolutely {LOVE} the Painted Autumn DSP and took the 3-for-1 DSP deal on at the moment as the opportunity to stock on this beautiful design.

With a fresh pack of pretty paper in hand, I wanted to try a card on my stamping list – a Gift Box in a Card design.

Following this fabulous tutorial by Rachel Tessman, I made my own version using the Painted Autumn DSP and Big on Birthdays stamp set.

The card base is the same size as any regular card, but then you make a cute little box using the DSP and a lid using cardstock and place it into a 2″ square cut into the card base.

It sits across the card like this…

The idea of the box is to hold a little gift.  So, I used the DSP to make a necklace to slide into the gift box.

Here’s another view (lots of photos in this post!)…

I always love a coordinating card & gift option and this style of card takes it to the next level!!!

I can see many of this style of card in my stamping future!

It doesn’t fit in an envelope – but that just makes it the perfect gift for a colleague’s desk or on a placemat for a birthday dinner!

My next project takes us from deluxe to a great card, with limited supplies…

The DSP is so stunning with beautiful patterns.  You can use them as a background – like the arrow stripes (my favourite in the pack!!!) or by fussy cutting the patterns for a centrepiece – like the sunflowers.

Add some ribbons and a favourite sentiment and your stunning card is done in a flash!

The sentiment is from the Just Add Text stamp set.  Find it on page 167 of the Annual Catalogue.  Filled with great fonts & beautiful words, it’s great for all those friendship, gratitude & all occasions cards.
