Colour INKspiration #06

Hello!  Welcome to our second Colour INKspiration for the month of March.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful entries we got for the first challenge for March – #05.  You can see them on our Colour INKspiration Facebook page.

Colour INKspiration #06 gives us a great combination of rich & fresh colours – Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & all things gold!

For me, I just couldn’t move away from the Middle Eastern luxury feel – which led me back to my favourite elephant!!!

He’s definitely around for the next 2 months – so I’m going to be making the most of him!

How cute is the gold touch on his caparison?  That was inspired by this super cute pink elephant card made by Robyn Cardon.

I carried through the colours to create a fun inside of the card too…

I love splatters and have quite a few stamp sets that work well to create that bottom left to top right splatter pattern!

We’d love for you to join us on the Facebook page to see what other stampers are creating with these colours & to share you own creation.

Speaking of amazing creations (because I know yours will be), please hop on to the gorgeous Lou Kitzelman and see hers.  This lady is a never ending bottle of talent!

Thanks for supporting Colour INKspiration.

We’ve been dazzled by your contributions & amazed by how many people keep joining the fun!

Project Love – Making Memories

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Mr Papercraft is unavailable this V-Day, so there wasn’t any pressure to get his card done by today (thank goodness – it’s been a crazy week!).

So, this morning’s agenda was a sleep-in, late breakfast and some craft time with the Little Misses.

It was a love theme all around with me making a Valentine’s Day card for Mr P and the misses making Valentine’s treat boxes.

Remember when I bought the Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set just for that delightful swirl stamp?  Well, it was time to fall in love with the whole stamp set…

And create this loved up card for Mr Papercraft.

Valentines Day card using Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set, Card & Labels Framelits & Perpetual Calendar stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Of course there’s some clear Wink of Stella glitter, gold embossing and some lovely layers!

Valentines Day card using Project Life Memories in the Making stamp set, Card & Labels Framelits & Perpetual Calendar stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Guess what?  The theme for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge is something starting with “V”… like Valentine’s Day!  So as exciting as the prospect of a volcano card with a lurking vulture at a fabulous vacation spot might be… I’m going to go with the boring theme of Valentine’s Day!

I really love this sweet card.  Happy Valentine’s Day Mr P – soulmates are hard to find, glad you’re mine!  Mrs Papercraft x

And then this happened …

So, last weekend we had the misfortune of being in the path of a tornado.  It was a crazy 60 seconds that left a trail of destruction.

image

It was a close call for my craft supplies – they were on the other side of this window…

image

We’re still cleaning up broken glass (I’m thinking of a new technique involving glass shards…) and sorting through the mess.

Despite the chaos I have many things to be thankful for.  No one was hurt.  Things are broken – but things can be fixed.  My craft wall survived the impact.

But, apart from the safety of my family, the thing I am most grateful for is the help I received to clean up.

So, after the dust had settled, it was time to make some thank you cards.  Here’s what I came up with for some very special people whose kindness & generosity was amazing.

Thank you!  I really, truly don’t know what I would have done without your help.  Kelly & the windswept little misses x

The In-Betweeners! JAI265 & FMS189

With pre-order over and my boxes of new stuff somewhere along the nullabour, we’re at the ‘in-between’ stage.

So, what’s a girl gotta do but pull out the reserves and have fun with the old faithfuls, staying arounds and welcome backs!  There’s lots of wonderful {NEW CATALOGUE} stamps and accessories that I already own!

Hello faithfuls, thanks for helping with the Just Add Ink 265 inspiration challenge (don’t you just love these colours?):

And Freshly Made Sketch:

I was delighted to find out the the Balloon framelits & Celebrate Today stamp set both feature in the new catalogue (see page 102).  And even better – you can purchase them as a bundle and save 15%.  Remembering Your Birthday and Kinda Eclectic are also in the new catty – yay!  And, although not on the new catalogue, I’m super excited {for you} that the Cloudy Day embossing folder is on the clearance rack at the moment.  It’s one of my all-time favourites.

So, as much as I wait in anticipation for new products, it was fun to craft with familiar sets!  What reappearing “new” catalogue product made you smile?  Kelly x

My SU! Secret: What I Did Today…

image

As you know, I’ve been keeping a secret …

It all starts here …

A couple of months ago, Stampin’ Up! home office in the US contacted me to ask if I would be a presenter in a demonstration booth at convention. I was skeptical when I first got the email – what would home office know about ME, a little known demo on the west coast? Well, apparently they do know about me and my love of punch art. And they wanted me to share the passion with my fellow demos at this years convention.

So, the last couple of months have been filled with new products, sneak peaks and late night brainstorms to come up with an hour of demonstrating and a board filled with samples.

What an amazing experience! Without this opportunity, convention would never have been possible for me.

Here’s some photos:

Over the next little while, I’ll share my samples with you. But I’ll start today with the two cards I demo’ed.

The first card focused on the “Tree Builder” punch and “Sprinkles of Life stamp set” which will appear in the new catalogue (starts 2nd June). I used the tree shape to create a template for sponging clouds & grass and then added a stamped & punched tree on top plus a beautiful sentiment.  The DSP is from a new paper stack called “Cherry on Top” and the embossing folder is “Happy Heart” which is carrying over from the Occasions catalogue.

The second demo I did used the “Triple Banner” punch and “Build a Birthday stamp set” which are also coming up in then new catalogue.  It features a layered banner plus some current (annual catalogue & Occasions catalogue) offerings.

Tonight, as you can imagine, I’m exhausted by what has turned out to be an amazing part of my papercraft journey. I’m feeling very blessed. Kelly x

Happy Birthday Super Charlie!

It’s a very happy 4th birthday to a very super-man today.

Charlie’s mum found this card on Pinterest & asked if I could re-create it (I have tracked the original creater back to Kaminski). Funnily enough, another friend of mine had sent me the same Pinterest link the week before – because it’s just so cool.

This is my version – sleek & smooth on the front…

image

And the pow – awesome on the inside!  The super “C” was cut by my Cameo (the tie is also Cameo cut).  The card features a stylish magnetic closure to keep the super powers hidden until the big reveal!

Wishing you a super awesome birthday Charlie!  Kelly & the little super heroes x

George’s Birthday Bash

I needed to make a 1st birthday card last week for a special little man, so I “trotted” out a punch art favourite – George from Peppa Pig.  The original punch art tutorial can be found here.

It’s always fun to spruce up a classic with new Occasions favourites – the balloons & sentiments are part of the “From the Herd” stamp set and the DSP is Birthday Bash.  I also used current SU! colours (Pink Pirouette & Blushing Bride) rather than the retired combo in the original tutorial.

Happy Birthday to Jack!  Kelly x

Young Love, Babychinos & Marshmallows – JAI 250

I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day.

We celebrated Alexa’s 4th birthday with an apple themed party in the morning, a relaxing afternoon (including a nap for this tired Mumma!) and then a tapas and cards date night for me & Mr Papercraft.

As it turns out, Mr P & I weren’t the only ones celebrating Valentine’s Day in our house.  Alexa was surprised with a truly gorgeous bunch of flowers from her bestie, Cooper. Young love!

The photo inspiration from Just Add Ink this week gave me the perfect opportunity to make a card for Alexa to give Coops in return.

JAI250

What does polka Dots, pink hearts & ‘coffee’ for kids in love translate to?  Babychinos & marshmallows!

image

The coffee cups are from the Perfect Blend stamp set.  For this card, I used the digital download rather than the actual stamp, which allowed me to resize the cups to create two babychino size versions that fit beautifully on the card front.

If you’re the parent of a youngster, chances are you’ve been for babychinos.  If not – you’re missing out on a tiny cup filled with warm, frothy milk and sprinkled with chocolate, with marshmallows on the side.  They didn’t have babychinos when I was little!  Today’s kids are totally spoilt!!!

By using MDS, I was also able to create a custom sentiment – “we go together like babychinos & marshmallows” – in my favourite fonts.

Thanks to Coops & his mum for making Alexa feel like the most special girl in the playground!  Kelly x

Here’s Looking at You – From the Herd

Have you seen “From the Herd?”.  It’s one of the new stamp sets available in the 2015 Occasions catalogue.  This 13 piece stamp set features the oh-so-cute farm animals all looking right at you – ready to wish you a variety of messages with 8 sentiment stamps including ‘happy birthday’, ‘from all of us’ (great for group or office cards), ‘it’s pasture birthday’ (when the card is a touch on the late side) & ‘just looking in on you … and hoping you’re feeling better soon’ (for those get well type cards).

from the herd stamp set

You don’t have to colour the animals, but they look great when coloured with the Blendabilities markers.  It’s been a fabulous chance for me to practice using these markers, which are surprisingly simple to get the hang of.  I particularly love that you get 3 colour tones of the same shade and they match Stampin’ Up! colours within the current range.  [And even better, there are 12 sets of these available for FREE as part of the Sale-A-Bration promotion].  Join the ‘party animals’ and have some fun yourself!  Kelly x

Just Add Ink, Mojo Monday & Project Life

Today’s project was inspired by the colour combo at Just Add Ink #239:

JAI239

The sketch at Mojo Monday #371:

Mojo371Sketch

And the ever versatile Project Life cards, in this case the MDS version of the Happiness Is range. I love using the Project Life cards in the place of DSP/patterned paper. Because I used the digital version in this card, I was able to recolour the design I selected so that it fit with the colour combo (JAI challenge) – Lost Lagoon printed on Very Vanilla cardstock. And, because it’s digital, it means I can print & make as many of these as I need. So many reasons to love multi-media papercraft! Kelly x
