ESAD Holiday Catalogue Blog Hop

ESAD Blog Hop Header Holiday 2015

Hello & welcome to another ESAD blog hop.  This one features 24 awesome designers sharing with you their creations using products from the Holiday Catalogue.  If you’ve just come via Barbara’s blog, then keep travelling until you get back there for lots more inspiration along the way.

The 2015 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue has been in circulation for a couple of weeks now and there’s some great ideas on Pinterest.  Given it’s the ‘holiday’ catalogue, lots of the projects are Christmas, Halloween or Thanksgiving themed.  I’m intending on sharing lots more seasonal craft with you between now & Christmas, but for me, sometimes the ideas that spring out of the pages of the catalogue are a little ‘outside the box’.

This was one of them…

When I first saw the Acorn Punch, all I could think of how it would be perfect to make Gumnut Babies.

Snugglepot & Cuddlepie are Australian literary icons that most Aussies will recognise from their childhood.  The author of the Snugglepot & Cuddlepie books, May Gibbs, spent part of her childhood in a town called Harvey which is close to where I live.

So, as much fun as all the Christmas products have been, I wanted to share my super cute gumnut babies with you.

I’ve also made a picture tutorial in case you want to make your own “bush babies”.  They use a few of our wonderful builder punches.  The builder punches are awesome for punch art because of their versatile shapes.

If you’ve spent some time flicking through the holiday catalogue, you might also recognise some other new catalogue goodies in my cards … Lighthearted Leaves stamp set (clear catalogue favourite for me!), Into the Woods DSP & 1/8″ Garden Green Striped Ribbon.

There’s so much to fall in love with.  My holiday catalogue wishlist continues to grow as I see how clever people around the world have used their new products.  This blog hop is no exception!!!

Next stop on the inspiration trail is Jenny Hayward & her lovely holiday creations.

Happy Sunday! I’d Rather Be …

Hello Sunday!  The day for lazy starts, pajamas and pancakes! Well, in our house anyway!

Today’s share reminds me of the “I’d rather be fishing” sentiment – another great Sunday tradition for many families.

I’d rather NOT be fishing, so instead I’ll share a fishing punch art card with for, which might be good inspiration for a man you know who likes to spend his Sundays on the water.

If you’re wondering what I’d rather be doing?  It’s a toss up between uninterrupted craft time and being curled up on the couch with a movie and chocolate!  Kelly x

The DSP in 2015 is {FABULOUS}!

Yes, I’m a paper addict, but you have to agree with me, the DSP in the new catalogue is truly divine.

From the bold striking colours in Bohemian to the gorgeous patterns in English Garden to the funky animal prints in Go Wild – there’s something for every card you’ll need to make this year (even a Christmas one!).

Of course, it’s a big outlay to buy every DSP.  So, I’m offering a paper share.  You can own a 6×6 piece of every DSP for just $50 (excluses Typeset).  Or the main collection for $38 or the colour collection for $12.50.

paper shareMy DSP share is open to anyone in Australia and ends today.  If you ticked the ‘yes please’ box at my catalogue launch, you should have received an email from me with payment details.  Only shares that have been paid for by the end of today will be ordered.

Not signed up yet?  Please contact me to join the share.

To make today’s card, I’ve used the Inkspired Team Sketch by Teneale Williams:

Together with a new DSP – Timeless Elegance:

To create this ‘thinking of you’ card:

I’m a big fan of DSP as a whole card background.  The colour combination is Tip Top Tape, Pink Pirouette & Elegant Eggplant.  Timeless & elegant indeed.  Kelly x

Weekly Deals – 6th-12th May 2015

I admit to a tiny little squeal when I saw this week’s Weekly Deals.  Not for me, because I already have these wonderful items, but for you – because you can add some of my all-time favourites to your Stampin’ Up! stash at 30% off.

#1 pick = Deco Label framelits.

Happy coincidence, I have just put these away after using them to make a whole heap of tags for Joni over at Imahlia Designs.  What a gorgeous lady, to include a handcrafted tag with every order she sends out.  I can personally recommend her hair clips & accessories – they are divine.  Internet shopping is one of my favourite things to do!  And I am lucky enough to have my own online store to do it in!  Come visit me during May & use the hostess code 2DDVDWRQ at checkout for a free gift.  Kelly x

Cards for Tweens – Part 1 (girls)

I was recently asked to design some cards for 9-10 year olds.  Wikipedia tells me that kids in this age group are commonly referred to as tweens… “too old for toys, too young for boys”.

So, what kind of cards are perfect for these in-between girls?

This is what I came up with!  Kelly x

“Herd” You Were … Looking for some card ideas!

I’m still loving “From the Herd”.  It’s so fun much to colour the farm animals with Blendabilities & they make a great centrepiece for a light hearted (gender neutral) card.  I love the match with the Hardwood Background Stamp which is a constant favourite on my craft table.  It’s fabulous when the old & the new make such good friends.

These are two of my recent creations.  In this one I wanted the animals to be peeking out from behind a fence to mimic the ‘looking in on you’ sentiment.  It makes for a perfect get well card.

The second is for a work colleague who is leaving.  There isn’t a ‘good luck’ type sentiment in the set, which is  shame because the first thing I thought when I saw this stamp set in the catalogue was “woo hoo, a ‘from all of us’ sentiment that would be perfect for group cards”.  Not to worry – the computer came to the rescue and I was able to add in my own sentiments.  I love the “punny” of using ‘herd’ rather than ‘heard’.  I hope the person receiving the card gets it, otherwise they’ll think I’m a really bad speller! Easter Babies (Freshly Made Sketches 169)

The Occasions 2015 catalogue features a large range of seasonal stamps to suit the first half of the year including Valentine’s Day, Easter & Mother’s Day.  It’s a little early to be creating Easter cards, but I wanted to ink up my new “For Peep’s Sake” stamp set.

For Peep's Sake - Occasions 2015

So cute!  The little chicks make for a perfect ‘inky’ family – don’t you think?  And a great opportunity to create a card using this week’s Freshly Made Sketch (#169).

So, this is another baby card on its way to a new set of parents, ready to raise their very own little chick.  There might be a few ‘for peep’s sake’ moments in the mix, but hope their baby experience is more ‘happy & hoppy’.  Kelly x

Playing with Painted Petals

I’m finishing 2014 with a sizzle – 3 cards in one post – woo hoo!!!  Thanks for all your support during the year.

During 2014, I published 237 blog posts and had over 15000 views!  It’s been so much fun to share what I love with other papercrafters around the world.

My top 3 posts were:

  1. Peppa Pig,
  2. ESAD Blog Hop – Seeing Stars
  3. Olaf Punch Art

Based on that, it’s probably no surprise that my most clicked category was Punch Art.

Most of my visitors (almost 7000!) came via search engines (thanks Mr Google) or Pinterest and they lived in Australia or USA.  Anne Barker, one of my lovely local customers, left me the most comments.

Thank you to everyone!  It’s been an amazing journey so far, that I can’t wait to continue in 2015.  Kelly x

Today’s cards feature more of the wonderful products that are coming up in the 2015 Occasions catalogue including the very beautiful Painted Petals stamp set.  Start writing your wishlist now, ordering starts 6th Jan 2015.

How many new products can you spy as I play around with the Painted Petals stamp set?

This card is based around the current Freshly Made Sketches #167 sketch.

FMS Final 167-001

This card ‘stems’ (pun intended hehe) from the leftover pieces from FMS design.  I had intended to make 2 identical cards (I often do that to save time), but had fun playing around with the pieces to create something same-same-but-different.

The laste on is my favourite – a birthday card made using the Painted Petals stamps to create a heart shaped wreath.  I had this floating around in my head since my new products arrived.  It’s ‘amazingly amazing’ when ideas translate to designs.

Did you catch all the new products?  There were 5 in total:

Merry Christmas to You & Yours

Wishing a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year to my family, friends, customer & followers.  I’ve had a fantastic year – both personally and as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.  I am forever grateful to have a hobby that inspires me, keeps me busy, gives me a creative outlet, allows me to meet wonderful people & lets me create beautiful ‘art’ for others.  Thank you for sharing in that.  It’s definitely been  a year of JOY . FRIENDSHIP . PEACE . LOVE . HAPPINESS.  I’m looking forward to some exciting adventures on ‘my papercraft journey’ in 2015.  Kelly x

PS, a Christmas sneak peak of the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die in the upcoming Occasions 2015 catalogue (starts 6th January 2015).

Another Thank You & A New Sneak Peak!

I had a customer message me this week to ‘thank’ me for her copy of the new catalogues – “all afternoon plans went on hold as I laid on my bed with the aircon on, perusing the paperwork”.  Perfect way to spend an afternoon if you ask me!

This card features the truly stunning Painted Blooms DSP from the 2015 Occasions catalogue.  It went perfectly with the card I wanted to make for Alexa’s day care room staff who have nurtured her socially, academically & spiritually (the kids do yoga!!!) during 2014.  It’s been a delight to take her there each week and we will miss the fabulous staff and their influence.  Kelly x
