Another Bronze Adventure!

The Paper Adventures team continues to soar to great heights.

The latest Adventurer to earn a promotion was Siobhan, now enjoying a 25% discount with her Bronze Elite status!

This is the bronze inspired card I made for Siobhan…

Bronze Elite | kelly kent

Love the Foil Snowflake?  This one is heat embossed with Copper embossing powder!

Bronze Elite | kelly kent

It looks scary, but it’s so easy to do!  Sponge your Versamark pad directly onto the snowflake, coat in embossing powder and heat with your heat tool.  If you missed any spots, you can go back with some more Versamark & powder and heat again.

Bronze Elite | kelly kent

The copper embossing looks great against the new Champagne foil!

Don’t tell my stamps, but I’ve been spending a bit of time lately with a different hobby – vinyl lettering.

It feels like everything that could be vinyled, has been!  Like any fun new hobby, it’s addictive.

I love being able to make custom creations that coordinate with the cards I made.

The bronze theme continued for an awesome mug for Siobhan.

We share a love of good quality teas!  And also a tendency to stay up too late stamping.

So, a vessel for some ‘late night stamping potion’ seems appropriate!

Vinyl | kelly kent

And then scissors on the back to keep with the craft theme…

Vinyl | kelly kent

Endless possibilities!!!

Bronze Elite | kelly kent

Nothing quite as special as a custom gift – which is why being a papercrafter brings me so much joy.  I love presents, but I love personalised presents more!

Foil Snowflakes – I just can’t get enough of them!

The absolute winner of the 2017 Holiday Catalogue for me hasn’t been a stamp set, new framelits or even the pretty paper.

The product I am absolutely in love with is….

Foil Snowflakes!

I can’t get enough of them {you can probably tell if you subscribe to my blog or social media!} – I’ve been using them on every project that crosses my craft table at the moment.

Many of the cards I’ve used the snowflakes on, haven’t actually been Christmas cards.  The Foil Snowflakes make amazing ‘doilies’.

We’ve still got just under 3 months left of guaranteed availability – and I am very hopeful that Stampin’ Up! will decide to keep them after that!

Have you ordered a pack?  Do you love them?

This is my latest ‘snowflake’ project – a kids birthday card!

Teepee Birthday | kelly kent

I also loved using the teepee stamp on this card.

Teepee Birthday | kelly kent

It comes from “Little One” – a stamp set designed for baby cards.  But it’s perfect for this fun 3rd birthday card.

Teepee Birthday | kelly kent

After blogging a few cards lately with Foil Snowflakes, I thought I’d look back and see all the ways I’ve used them so far…

Foil Snowflakes | kelly kent

1 baby card
1 anniversary card
3 birthday cards
3 Christmas cards

What occasion should I ‘snowflake’ next???

Colour INKspiration #19

Thanks for joining us for another Colour INKspiration challenge.

Can you believe we’re up to #19???  Your support has been amazing!

If you haven’t joined us yet over on Facebook, click here to be taken to our Facebook group.

Let me share the colours for challenge #19 with you – they are divine!!!

Image may contain: outdoor

Yellow, gray & white is one of my all-time favourite colour combinations.

I admit, I don’t love the green in there (for the project I wanted to make) but the design team have used it as a wonderful contrast.

October happens to be an anniversary month for friends of mine.

And, by happy coincidence, their wedding colours were yellow & gray!

How amazing was the beautiful yellow bridesmaid dress I got to wear – total princess moment!

kelly kent | mypapercraftjourney

So, I’ve used this challenge to make a sweet anniversary card…

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As a striking background, I’ve used the silver snowflakes in a repeated pattern.

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

The anniversary sentiment is courtesy of the Number of Years stamp set.

‘Anniversary’ was too long for the Classic Label punch, so I had to improvise using a pencil & template!  It’s always fun to be creative with our cardmaking pieces!

Colour INKspiration #19 | kelly kent

As for Garden Green – I snuck it in for the ‘th’!

I would have been totally happy to leave it out – but the challenge rules made me hide it there!

This wasn’t the only anniversary card I needed to make for October.  It seems October is a popular month for weddings amongst my friends!

Another set of friends are celebrating one sweet year together.

This is their card….

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

I made it to match the colours & styling of their wedding card.

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

The anniversary sentiment for this card came from the Milestone Moments stamp set.  I love that font!!

1st Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

Do you send anniversary cards to the couples whose weddings you’ve attended?

I’ve tried hard over the years, but since my record keeping system is scattered (and that’s a kind description!), they often sneak up on me!!!

A card in the mail is always wonderful, especially when it’s not expected.

#makeacardsendacard

That is all I have to share with you today!

Please continue the hop to see the fabulous project my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman has made using these colours…

Don’t forget, you can join in the challenge fun over on the Colour INKspiration Facebook group.

Thanks for hopping with us!

CASEing the Catty #149 | Year of Cheer

And just like that, the school holidays are over!

Back to packed lunches, early starts and after school activities!!!

If you have kids, what kind of holiday parent are you?  Love the change up and find it hard to go back, or – at your limits and ready for someone else to entertain them for 7 hours of the day???

I’m a holiday loving mumma – but mostly for the sleep ins I think!!!

Staying up til 1am is a little easier when I know I don’t have to be up at 7am!

Because it’s Sunday, it’s time for another CASEing the Catty project.

Image may contain: text

Today, we’re CASEing the Year of Cheer section of the Holiday catalogue.

Choose any element of what you see from pages 36 – 47.

I’ve chosen to CASE the colours & styling of this super cute treat bag on page 45…

Image © Stampin’ Up!

Although you probably don’t often think of black for baby cards, black and pink together make a cute modern twist on the traditional baby card colours!CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kentI’m pretty sure the original Stampin’ Up! project is Flirty Flamingo, but I softened it up a little by having Blushing Bride as the pink.

The DSP choice is the same, and I’ve kept the vellum heart {so much to love about the inspiration card!}.  The vellum is applied using a small amount of Fast Fuse.  It barely shows up through the vellum – perfect!  And even more perfect – buy a Fast Fuse during October and get 2 free refills!CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kentI’ve lost count of how many different types of cards I’ve used the Foil Snowflake on now.  They are definitely not just for Christmas!!

The ‘hello’ is from the Hello Friend stamp set – I’ve got a total crush on this stamp set at the moment!  To get the depth of colour I stamped it three times in Blushing Bride using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the placement.

The ‘baby’ is from Happy Celebrations (love that font!) in Basic Black Archival Ink.CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kent

And the final fun touches are Black Shimmer ribbon, Gold Mini Sequin Trim, Pearl Jewels and some Shimmery White Hearts.

I’m not sure where the hearts are from in the inspiration card, but cut mine using the Window Box Thinlit.  There’s two sizes in one of the square patterns – just beautiful for accents!

I just love how this card turned out – and although I haven’t forgotten, it reminds the wonderful inspiration contained within those catalogue pages.

Please join us with what inspires you this week from pages 36-47 of the Holiday Catalogue.  And share your creation with us on our Facebook group.

Thanks for hopping!

See what the rest of the design team has created, hopping from here to Angela Meiritz-Reid with another gorgeously pinkly baby card….

CASEing the Catty #148 | Kits and Memories & More

Hello!  Happy school holidays!

It’s the middle weekend of the holidays here and we’ve finally had sunshine in the last couple of days!

We’re still yet to hit what I would consider warm, but the fact that the sun is shining is a great start!

{Note the nice bright -natural – light for my photos!!!}

Image may contain: text

Welcome to a CASEing the Catty blog hop.

This talented team of designers are taking you on a creative journey that showcases how they’ve been inspired by the kits and Memories & More pages in the Annual or Holiday Catalogue.

We’d love for you to join in via our Facebook page.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve been sharing the virtues of this kit with my customers & friends, but I was drawn to the sample that we’ve used in the CTC graphic above!

The Watercolor Christmas Project Kit is fabulous.

It’s bright & fun without being silly and amazingly economical for a handmade Christmas card!

The kit is $35 (20 cards & gold lined envelopes!).  You can buy the coordinating stamp set – or use Christmas stamps that you already own.

From now until the beginning of December, I am offering this kit for $35 – all made up and ready to send to your favourite 20 people this Christmas.

It’s the perfect offer for people who love handmade but doesn’t have the time or inclination to make their own cards this year.

Local delivery is included, or I can post Australia wide for $8.50.

If you’d like to order a Watercolor Christmas Kit (made for you, or so you can make it yourself), send me an email or contact me via my Facebook page.

Now, apart from the kit being a great option for cards this Christmas, those easy to replicate layouts are a perfect option if you want to design your own cards using the materials you have at home.

I’ve chosen the third card along in the picture – it’s one of my all time favourite layouts and I use it all the time!

That big white space seemed like the perfect option for the newest stamp in my collection – one that I adore – the so-so-cute reindeer from the Merry Patterns stamp set.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

This exclusive stamp set is only available as a hostess reward during September & October 2017.

Want to add him to your collection?  Gather your family & friends and collect orders of $450 or more and the Merry Patterns stamp set will be yours to own (see the end of this post for a complete graphic).

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

This card features the kit colour theme – Real Red, Emerald Envy & Basic Black.

If you’re ever not sure what the coordinating colours are for a kit or DSP, check back with your catalogue as the full colour range is always listed.

The Stampin’ Up! Online Store is also a great reference for current products.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

Now, as cute as this card is, we all know I favour non-traditional Christmas colours for my cards.

So, I couldn’t resist another version in pink & gray, inspired by Lou Kitzelman’s Merry Patterns card for Colour INKspiration last week.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

This is more my style!

Same cute reindeer….

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

Same embellishments!

Just a change up of colours – Sweet Sugarplum & Smoky Slate with Wood Textures DSP.

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

I also shifted the centrepiece down the card for a same-same-but-different variation.

Making cards in pairs like this is one of my favourite ways to add ‘more’ without more effort!

Which style do you favour?

Modern on the left, traditional on the right?

CASEing the Catty #148 Project Kit | kelly kent

After my super long blog post today (still excited to be back sharing with you!), the next stop for CASEing the Catty is the gorgeous Rose Packer.

Thanks for hopping with us!

Just Add Ink #379 | Photo Inspiration

It’s time for another Just Add Ink challenge.

Today the gorgeous Just Add Ink design team are creating all kinds of wonderful projects based on this oh-so-pretty inspiration photo…

Image may contain: drink

And we want you to join in too!!!  Upload your creation inspired by any element of the photo (colours, theme, patterns) to the Just Add Ink blog.

Each week we choose a winner and two honorable mentions.  I tell you, it’s such a buzz to have your project chosen!  Share your creativity with us!

I took inspiration from the patterns and colours of the jug of that beautiful summery drink.

I am dreaming of days where it will be warm enough in Bunbury to enjoy weather suited to pitchers of fruity drinks!  It’s so cold at the moment!!!  Spring has not sprung in the south west of Australia!

Still, while the sun is only trying to shine, I can grow my own pretty flowers!

Just Add Ink #379 Photo Inspiration | kelly kent

One of the thing I love most about the Painted Harvest stamp set is the number of different colours you can stamp it in!

I am yet to see a colour that I don’t like.  Blue flowers look totally amazing – I’m keen to try that out!!!

Just Add Ink #379 Photo Inspiration | kelly kent

These flowers are stamped in Rose Red, Melon Mambo & Sweet Sugarplum with a SSP & Blushing Bride centre.

This stamp is designed to as 2-step stamping.   I like to add a few extra layers to keep the colours interesting!!!

Thanks for joining me today!  You can see all the design team cards on the Just Add Ink blog.

If you need any stamping supplies, and live in Australia, I’d love to be your demonstrator.

Visit my online store for a fabulous range of products including the gorgeous Painted Harvest stamp set.

kelly kent | mypapercraftjourney.com

PS, I am aware of my inability to use any other sentiment that the ‘happy birthday’ from Sunshine Sayings stamp set – trust me, I’ve tried – but it really is perfect for my style of cards!!!  I’m looking through the catalogue for my next order to add some variety!

Foil Snowflakes – So Much More Than Christmas

The 2017 Holiday Catalogue brings us a great assortment of new lovelies to play with.

One of my favourite embellishments are the Foil Snowflakes.

Being in the southern hemisphere, I’m not so much of a snowflake girl for Christmas cards, but the most wonderful thing about the Foil Snowflakes is that they are more like another version of a metallic doily than anything else.  So, they are perfect for all your card making needs.

They come in gold & silver, have a fantastic weight to them and the reverse side is white, which means (although I haven’t tried yet), you could probably tint them any colour.

We used them on this bright & fun card at last week’s demonstrator card class – on a {BIRTHDAY} card!!!

Paint Play | kelly kent

The stamp set is Paint Play – one of my new additions from the Annual Catalogue.

I’ve used the silver ‘snowflake’ in this card.  You can see the gold one in action on a Christmas card from yesterday’s CASEing the Catty project.

Paint Play | kelly kent

If you haven’t yet ordered a packet (or 6) of these gorgeous doilies snowflakes, then head over to my online store.  It’s open 24-7 and ready to help out with all your stamping needs.

CASEing the Catty #145 Merry Little Christmas

Hello Sunday evening! Where did the weekend go???

I hope you enjoyed it!  We had a lovely family weekend camping in a beautiful bush setting about an hour from where I live.

We saw stars, possums (lots of possums!), went bushwalking, found a fallen tree that made a great impromptu bridge, ate yummy camping food, sat by the campfire and enjoyed time together!

Family Time | kelly kent

I’m slowly getting back to joining in with all my favourite challenges – and tonight it’s the Merry Little Christmas section of the Holiday Catalogue with the CASEing the Catty Crew.

Image may contain: one or more people and people standing

You can CASE any project from pages 10 – 19 of the Holiday Catalogue.  This includes the Merry Little Christmas suite and a few gorgeous stamp sets on the pages after this.

I went on a bit of journey with my CTC card this week!

It started with this sample from the catalogue…

And ended with this….

CASEing the Catty - Merry Little Christmas | kelly kent

When I look at the finished creation, I can see it was a way for me to use some of the new catalogue items I’d bought but not yet had a chance to play with.

I wanted to use the Watercolor Christmas stamp set – so that formed my centrepiece.

I was desperate to use the new Foil Snowflakes – they are a hidden gem in the new catalogue. They come in gold & silver and work beautifully for all types of projects.  I can’t wait to share a birthday version with you next week!

And I think one of the things that drew me to the sample picture was the Merry Music DSP…. which I ended up using the reverse side (cos it’s all so pretty!).

Here’s a close up of the centre panel with all those elements…

CASEing the Catty - Merry Little Christmas | kelly kent

The extra snowflake embellishments are from the Seasonal Tags Framelits in the new Champagne Foil.  OMG – the colour is luscious!!!

This die set contains the borders for the cute Seasonal Chum stamps, but it also has some great bonus shapes.  It always pays with your die sets to investigate the extras!!!

Please join us over on Facebook with the challenge for this week – so many great projects to choose from.  You can be inspired by anything you find on those pages – the layout, the colours, the style, a technique, the stamp set, pretty paper… anything that takes your fancy!

You can also continue the blog hop and visit more of the CASEing the Catty Crew.
