Holidays Kids Class – Fidget Spinner Card

It has been school holidays here in Western Australia – for the past 2 weeks.  And because we are in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s winter!

As Murphy’s Law would have it, these holidays have been mostly wet, cold & windy, so it seemed like the perfect time to launch my school holidays paper craft class.

I’ve been thinking through this for quite some time, but the holidays always seem to come & go before I can put my plans into action.

Not this holidays!  I shared Tuesday afternoon with 7 gorgeous little people.

We made 2 cards, a calendar/post-it creation & a necklace, finishing with free choice using pieces from my scrap basket.

The kids had lots of fun and it was labelled as the ‘best craft activity ever’.

All the projects were voted as winners, but the fidget spinner card definitely got a thumbs up from the whole group!

Because kids don’t have any concept of new, retired or otherwise, I used this class as a chance to go back to some of my favourites!

Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey & the gorgeous Moonlight DSP.

Here’s the spinner card in action…

Although I’ve seen some awesome spinners made from punches, we kept it simple and cut around a printed spinner image.

Thanks to Doodlecraft for the great template. (3″ is the approximate printed size)

We added 3/4″ circles at the three points and attached a washer with glue dots.

The middle feature is another 3/4″ circle with a 1/2″ circle adhered on top with a mini dimensional.

Again, retired was all ok for this card, so I used the arc die from the recently retired Sliding Star Framelits to make the spinner track.

The spinner is attached using more washers & a dimensional.

I’m calling my first ever kids class a wonderful success.

The kids had a great time and they were super clever at making things from paper!

June Team Birthdays!

June was another month full of birthday in the our Paper Adventures Team!

I’m still in my matchy-match card and gift phase.  It’s fun not only matching my papercraft materials to the necklaces, but matching the necklaces to the recipients!

First up it was Cate’s birthday!  Cate joined a couple of years ago, using her birthday money to buy her starter kit.  The rest is history!

Cate loves purple!  It was tricky to get a photo of this card showing off just how lovely the Bundle of Love DSP is!

Then it was Narelle’s birthday.  Narelle is my stamping sister and the one who lead this pony to the Stampin’ Up! pond!

Narelle is quite partial to pink!

I used the bleach technique on the panel of this card to remove the colour from the flowers – simple but effective!

And it was also my upline’s birthday – Maxine Norrish, who once upon a time said, “would you like to join, you’ll get free paper”… And the rest is history!

These colours are perfect for the types of outfits that Maxine wears!

Colour INKspiration #11

We’re 10 challenges down and I continue to be inspired & amazed by all the entries that you are contributing on our Facebook page each fortnight!

Are you ready for another???

Colour INKspiration #11 is blues & browns – and I can’t wait to see what you create!

Image may contain: coffee cup and drink

This one stumped me for a while – I don’t naturally use a lot of Marina Mist!

But, they don’t call it a challenge because it’s my favourites each week!

I was dazzled by the other cards the design team made – continue on the hop to see the amazing creations!!!

After quite a bit of paper pushing, this is what I came up with…

The longer it sat, the happier I was – just a clean & simple masculine card!

The Wood Textures DSP really helped me out on this one!  I love that DSP stack!

Did you spy the new embossing paste again?

I think I’m going to use this on every card for the next forever!!

Please join us with your card for this challenge.  All the action happens on our Facebook page – no blog required to participate with your gorgeous creation!

But if you have a blog, feel free to leave a link so that members of the group can visit you.

Next up on the crew’s blog hop is Jackie Noble over in New Zealand!  You’re going to love what she’s created!

Just Add Ink #356 Choose Two

I’m so excited to share more of my OnStage creations with you!

I’ve been saving this project, especially for this Just Add Ink challenge.

We all contribute ideas for the challenges – and this ‘choose 2’ challenge was one of mine.

Who doesn’t love metallics, circles & balloons!  But you can only choose 2!  I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

Visit the Just Add Ink blog to see the Design Team creations and enter the challenge!

I made this card for my OnStage Display Board, knowing I’d be able to share it with you for this post.

My wonderful display stamper box consisted of amazing products including this witty stamp set called Five for All.

I love these sassy stamps.  You have to pick your audience – but I bet there’s lots of stampers who would love to send a quirky card or 2!

So, inspired by the metallic & circle theme, I made this card.

Not for the greatest kid in the world, but the greatest kid in the universe!

You can see more of the circles and gold detailing in this view….

The funky circle patterns are from the Eastern Beauty stamp set, embossed in gold.

I’ve used the coordinating circle trim from the Eastern Gold Vinyl Sticker pack along the bottom of the card.

And the pull tab is using the new Circle Tab punch in gold foil – you’re going to love that!!!

Want to see some of my other display board samples from OnStage 2017 using the Five for All stamp set?

I think this is my favorite design – a double fold card modelled on a nurses scrub, complete with a Circle Punch fob watch.

Nurses would have to be one of the most underappreciated professions we have!!!  I know a nurse or 2 that would groan at the accuracy of this sentiment!

Next is a cute little window box with a sassy tag – “you’re not old, you’re 25 plus shipping & handling”!!!  Aren’t we all!  Some with international shipping???

If you loved the ombre ribbon in the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit from the Occasions catalogue, you’re going to squeal when you find out it’s in the new catalogue!

This card is a mutual admiration society with more beautiful metallics from the Eastern Palace DSP and more ombre ribbon (Island Indigo – yes please!).

And last, but not least, for those that can have a laugh at getting older.

This card features all those beautiful new 2017-2019 In Colors.

That’s all from me today.  It’s been photo heavy over the past couple of days – thanks for sharing the experience with me!

You really are going to love this new catalogue!
