Just Add Ink #549 | Choose Two

It’s a Choose Two theme for Just Add Ink this week, and you have me to thank – or curse – for the choices!

I love the boho look of flowers with feathers! I must admit there was a component of challenge in leaving the leaves out, so that I just had two of the choose two elements. In the end I worked around it by using the feathers as the foliage.

The featured stamp set for this card is Beautiful Friendship. This is currently on the Last Chance Retirement List and will retire on 3rd May 2021 – or when supplies run out in the warehouse. These flowers are so wonderfully whimsy!

The feathers are from two other stamp sets – Tasteful Touches and Positive Thoughts. They’ve been getting a bit of workout lately – I’ve been loving incorporating feathers into my designs.

The colours for this card are Sahara Sand for the base, Rococo Rose (from the Sand & Sea DSP) for the background and Basic White with Subtle Embossing for the panels. The florals are Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose, Pool Party and Highland Heather. The feathers are Pretty Peacock, Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. The accessories are White Polka Dot Ribbon, Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon and Elegant Faceted Gems.

I can’t wait to see all the floral entries for this challenge. I know there’ll be lots of petals and leaves, but I’m excited to see what leaves & feathers and petals & feathers creations you’ll share. To add your project to the gallery, visit the Just Add Ink blog by clicking here. You can also see all the ways the design team used the leaves, feathers & petals.

Thanks for supporting Just Add Ink – we really appreciate you all!

Stamp Review Crew | Tasteful Touches

Hello! Happy Monday (or Sunday if you are reading this when it first posts in a different time zone). I love hopping with my Stamp Review Crew friends. We’re shining the spotlight on a crew members over the coming months on the main Stamp Review Crew blog, starting with the gorgeous Charlet Mallett. To learn more about Charlet, visit the SRC blog.

Today’s hop features the Tasteful Touches stamp set and coordinating Tasteful Labels Dies.

I must confess, the dies are part of my usual rotation but it’s been a while since I pulled out the stamp set. It’s lovely to be reminded of all the great stamp sets in the Annual Catalogue. Some of these will retire at the beginning of May – I wonder which ones?!

I was drawn to the feather in this stamp set which was perfect for the card I wanted to make with my Paper Adventures team at our demonstrator class last week. We hold these once a month and it’s a great chance to get together and do what we love – stamp!

I wanted to use the Gilded Leafing on this card. We played with it a little at previous class, but it was time to step up the uses. As well as applying with Versamark and Heat & Stick Powder, the leafing will stick to any adhesive. We used it with double sided tape. The bottom layer of the card is just a touch bigger than the top layer. We applied tape along the very edge. The tape is 6mm wide and perfect to make it seem like the whole bottom layer is gilded.

Gilded Leaf | kelly kent

The top layer of the card also features gliding. We stamped feathers from the Tasteful Touches stamp set in Blushing Bride and then added more feathers from the Positive Thoughts stamp set in Versamark which we gilded using the heat and stick method.

The final layer of this card was a cluster with a sentiment, ribbon and two more of the labels from the Tasteful Labels Dies. I love the mix of border ridges and stitched edges on the dies.

By perfect serendipity (or clever design) the Blushing Bride ribbon in the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue has a gold shimmer though it. I’ve paired it with an Annual Catalogue favourite – the Whisper White Polka Dot ribbon. At this time of the year with a new catalogue starting in May, you start to wonder which items we’ll see again. I really hope both of these ribbons make it!

Time will tell if the Tasteful Textures bundle will stick around for another year in the Annual Catalogue. One thing we do know is that returning products are almost never included as a bundle which means that great 10% discount you get for buying the stamp set and dies at the same time in a bundle is no longer available. So, if this set is on your wish list, you’ll want to buy it soon!

Thanks for hopping with me today. Next up please visit the wonderful design talent of Stesha Bloodhart. To see all the projects made by the Crew for the hop, click here to visit the Stamp Review Crew blog.

Have a wonderful week!

Social Stamping | brights

Hi there! Thanks for joining me and my Stampin’ friends for the first Social Stamping Blog Host of 2021. I started these hops in 2020 as a way to stay connected during the pandemic. I had no idea at the time we’d still be sharing projects as a group almost a year later! To see the full list of participants for today’s hop, click here to view the main blog host post.

The theme for today is the Brights Colour Collection. I think this is the happiest range of colours and projects made with these colours are fun and bold and interesting.

I’ve used the Brights DSP Stack – which is currently available in the Starter Kit for anyone who joins Stampin’ Up! during Sale-A-Bration. Sale-A-Bration finishes tomorrow (9pm WA time) so please message me this weekend on Facebook, Instagram, leave a comment here or send me an email if you need more information. Or, if you know how it works and you’re ready to join my Paper Adventures team, you can purchase your Starter Kit by clicking here. If it doesn’t find me automatically as your demonstrator, you can search for me using my name “Kelly Kent’ and location “Dalyellup’.

I made two cards for this hop so I could use all 10 colours in the Brights collection – Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape.

Brights | kelly kent

The first card uses Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight.

Brights | kelly kent

I cut the Detailed Hearts Die in Basic White cardstock and then again in the DSP so I could layer the hearts within the frame. So I didn’t waste any of the DSP, I cut 1.5″ strips of each colour and then cut out just the segments of hearts I needed.

I won’t lie, this card was time consuming – but it’s worth placing each of those little hearts into the space and filling it up with pretty colour.

Brights | kelly kent

The sentiment for both cards is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set – white heat embossed on black cardstock as I love the contrast of black, white and the pop of colour from the Brights.

The second card has been swirling around my mind for a while – I’ve had feathers on the brain! And the combination of Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape seemed like the perfect colour combination to make it come to life.

Brights | kelly kent

The feather die is from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. The pretty scallop edge is from the Be Mine Stitched Dies. And the die I’ve used for the hello there sentiment is from the Hippo & Friends Dies.

Brights | kelly kent

Next up on the blog hop for some more bright creations is my gorgeous team member Lisa Whitehead. Lisa took advantage of a joining special with Stampin’ Up! a couple of years ago and has just celebrated her 2 year Stampinversary.

If you’d like to get your hands of 5 packs (200 sheets!) of DSP just for buying a Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit, then now is the time. This DSP will be available in the upcoming catalogue released in May 2021, so you’ll be among the first to have it in your stash. Click here to start adding items to the Starter Kit.

Thanks for hopping with us today. We look forward to sharing another colour collection again next month.

Just Add Ink #512 | Sketch

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for a Just Add Ink challenge.  If you love the sketch we’re creating with today, you can share your project using the sketch with us at the Just Add Ink blog.  You’ll also find all the design team cards there too!

There was a crazy serendipity when I was planning out my card for this week’s challenge.  A jumper I bought online had the exact same layout as the sketch!!!

So, with that as my inspiration for colour choices, I made this simple but cute card using the Tasteful Touches stamp set.

Tasteful Textures | kelly kent

I really love feathers as an image in craft (not so much real life feathers – they gross me out a little!).

Tasteful Textures | kelly kent

I’ve used two different embossing folders on the coloured panels – Subtle 3D (Night of Navy) & the new Tasteful Textile 3D (Pretty Peacock).

Tasteful Textures | kelly kent

The sentiment is white heat embossed on Basic Gray cardstock and then snipped into individual words.  I love this effect with plain text words.

Sometimes the layout adds all the interest a card needs!

I hope you find time this weekend to make some cards and that this sketch may be of some inspiration to you.

Paper Pumpkin – Hugs from Shelli Alternative

Wow – what an action packed month May was!!  June is looking just as exciting with a new catalogue starting on Tuesday – woo hoo!!!

While we wait for the new catalogue, there’s still time to order the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin kit.  Paper Pumpkin is available in the US each month of the year – but not usually in Australia.  As a special release, we’re currently able to order an exclusive global kit called Hugs from Shelli.

Mine arrived during the week and I’ve loved putting together the kit cards.  They are so pretty with beautiful designs in the style of the upcoming Bird Ballad suite.

As well as the supplies to make 12 cards (3 each of 4 designs), you get a stamp set and ink spot for your collection. Plus it comes in a gorgeous box that you can keep long after the kit is made & enjoyed.

The stamp set can be used independently of the kit materials to create your own unique designs. If you’ve already purchased the kit and would like to print a clear case insert, click here to download the artwork (provided by Stampin’ Up!).

I love the cards in the kit – they are perfect for every type of stamper, but I also love the beautiful stamp set and wanted to use it to create my own card using the images and some of my other supplies.

Hugs from Shelli - alternative design | kelly kent

I’ve used the floral stamp to create my own background / DSP, colouring the middle of the flowers with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend and the buds with Dark Pool Party.  The label is cut in Smoky Slate cardstock using an upcoming product that is going to be a staple for most crafters – Stitched Nested Label Dies.  I’ve used a partial cut to create a pennant style rather than a full hexagon.

Hugs from Shelli - alternative design | kelly kent

How cute are those feathers???  I love feathers on cards and the styling on the feather in this set appeals to me!

The card base & sentiment label for this creation is Pretty Peacock cardstock – one of the five new In Colors we’ll see featured in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue which goes live on Tuesday.

Hugs from Shelli - alternative design | kelly kent

The value from this Paper Pumpkin kit is fabulous.  12 cards with printed envelopes, a limited edition stamp set and an ink spot all for $37 (plus post).  It’s only available while stocks last.  To order yours (in Australia), click here to visit in the online store.

Birthday Feathers

My east coast stamping bestie Miss Lou Kitzelman turned 21 last week… well, maybe not 21, but she did have a birthday!

Here is the card I made for her using some of my favourite products.  The card layout was inspired by a series of Rachel Tessman cards I spied on Pinterest.Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

The theme was inspired by the gift which featured a whimsical dreamcatcher.  Which led me to feathers!  I love feathers on craft (not so keen on them in real life!).  The feathers are from the Chase Your Dreams Framelits.

Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

I cut the pink flowers from a sheet of the Tropical Escape and then spritzed them with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

The birthday stamp is from the Piece of Cake stamp set.  Lou shared this with us at OnStage in 2018 – so it will always remind me of her every time I use it.

Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

I don’t often decorate the inside of my cards, but I wanted to carry this theme through and include a dream catcher from the framelit set.  It wouldn’t fit on the front – so middle it was!

Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

And from there I just got totally carried away and made a coordinating tag for the gift bag too!

Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

Matchy-matchy is my favourite!

Birthday Feathers | kelly kent

Happy birthday to Lou!  Here’s to a wonderful year filled with so much craft time you decide to read a book for a change!!!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Retirement List

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop for May.

I love May…. it’s my birthday month, the weather is often amazing and we are on the cusp of a new catalogue!  Lots of happy in May!

With the change in catalogue coming, the theme for our May hop is the retirement list.  And our fabulous guest designer is the Ink Paper Girl – Katrina Duffell.

I made two cards to share today featuring a range of retiring colours.  See all the Colour Revamp info by clicking here.

You’ll want to make sure you’ve got cardstock, ink, refills and embellishments to match any colours you’ll be keeping post retirement.   There’s lots of new colours to love, but if you’ve got a favourite, make sure you’re not chasing the ink refill at crazy prices after it retires.  They are only $6.50 and available until 31st May (unless they sell out earlier) in my online store.  Click here to browse.

There’s 3 pinks retiring from the range that I used in my first card.  Sweet Sugarplum from the In Colors range, Pink Pirouette from the Subtles and Rose Red from the Regals.

Retiring Pink Tones | kelly kent

Retiring products on this card include the Birthday Blooms stamp set, Painted with Love DSP & Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  All the DSP except Wood Textures is retiring – so add any favourites to your May order.Birthday Blooms | kelly kent

I’ll be blogging with Sweet Sugarplum right up til the last minute!!  And I’ve stocked up so I can keep using it in my craft space for years to come!  And Brick Wall is staying as well (I’m still shocked about that retirement!).

Birthday Blooms | kelly kent

There’s a big change of blues in the Colour Revamp.  We are losing Dapper Denim from the In Color range, Soft Sky & Marina Mist from the Subtles, Island Indigo from the Regals and Tempting Turquoise from the Brights.  I’ve featured three of these in my second card.

Retiring Blue Tones | kelly kent

The Feather Together stamp set formed the theme for this card.  I really loved this stamp set (and perhaps didn’t get nearly as much use from it as I should).  I’ll be keeping this in my stash for personal use as well.  Sweet Sugarplum feathers anyone???

Feather Together | kelly kent

The embellishments (banner & sentiment) are from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  I’m not sure I ever used these framelits to their full potential – it really is a great set.

Feather Together | kelly kent

There were lots of angles for my retirement projects. I’ve covered….

Colours I’ll miss: Sweet Sugarplum, Island Indigo

Colour I won’t miss: Soft Sky, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi

Stamp set I loved: Feather Together

Stamp set everyone else loved: Birthday Blooms

Embossing Folder I’m surprised to see retiring: Brick Wall

Totally Under-used Framelits: Mini Treat Bag

Embellishments I loved: Glitter Enamel Dots

Ribbon I loved: Island Indigo 1/4″ Ombre, 1/8″ Gold

DSP I loved: Painted with Love

DSP everyone else loved: Color Theory

Click on any of the products above to visit them in my online store.

To see what retired products the other team members have used, click on next on each blog until you get back to where you started.

Up next is my gorgeous friend & sideline Stampin’ Up! teamie, Narelle Simm.

Just Add Ink #402 | Choose Two

It’s a choose two theme this week for Just Add Ink.  We give you three choices – and you craft using your favourite combination of 2!

It’s stencils, foil or feathers this week – what will you choose?

I went with foil & feathers – and playing with a new toy!!!

JAI #402 Foil & Feathers | kelly kent

Late last year we had the chance to pre-order Stampin’ Up!’s new positioning tool called the Stamparatus.  They arrived this month and it’s been so fun to play!  It’s officially available in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue (release date: June 2018) – I’ll make sure to update you once it’s available to order again.

So much more than the standard positioning tool, it’s got an awesome hinge feature which makes repetitive stamping a breeze – these feathers took me no time at all and look how straight & evenly spaced they are.

JAI #402 Foil & Feathers | kelly kent

You can go back over and stamp the same image to get a great solid image – like for the Basic Gray sentiment.

The feathers are an easy spot for my card, but I’ve been a bit sneaky with the foil component.  The DSP background is the Sale-A-Bration Springtime {FOIL} DSP – only available for a couple more days (until 31st March 2018) so I thought I’d give it one last outing!

JAI #402 Foil & Feathers | kelly kent

If you love the stamped images, you’ll find them both in the Feather Together stamp set from the Annual Catalogue!

Thanks for joining me today for Just Add Ink.

If you have some craft time over Easter and create something wonderful with stencils, foil & feathers, be sure to share it with us on the Just Add Ink blog.  You’ll also find all the design team cards there.

If some crafty shopping is also on your agenda over Easter, my online Stampin’ Up! store will be open all weekend!  With free Sale-A-Bration choices until 9pm (WA time) on Saturday 31st March 2018.  Click here to browse the online store!

ESAD Info Retirement Colours-001

I’ve have selected the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit (134797) to show you today.  Kits are wonderful for lots of reasons, but the two top ones have to be value for money and ease of cardmaking.

  • Envelopes to match each size of card

It all comes in a super cute storage box with full instructions for only $51.95.  You just need to add in your preferred adhesive and have a pair of paper snips handy.  From there, it’s up to you & your craft style what you create.

You can follow the included instructions (more or less) and create cards like this:

Feathers with a Sprinkle of Gold

There’s always choices in life where people fall in one group or the other – rose or lavender … scrunch or fold …  silver or gold …

image

I have always been a silver kind of girl.  But I’m finding myself LOVING gold of late.  I wanted to make a thank you card that was classic & elegant and without thinking, picked up the gold embossing powder.  I loved it so much, I made another version (still in gold) with ‘Happy Birthday’.

image

So, I’ve come to realise that maybe I’m both kinds of girl at the moment (don’t tell anyone but I actually quite like rose a-n-d lavender these days!!!).  Where do your allegiances lie?  Kelly x
