The Mini Papercrafts spoiled me with the gift of time! And also some eggs to eat while I’m hiding away in the craft room in peace. They always have access to my scrap pile and I love seeing what creations they make!

I hope there is lots of excitement in your house today. In a world that can be serious and full of big issues, it’s nice to stop & experience the magic of Easter.

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Banners

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Thanks for joining us for a Paper Adventures Team Hop.  The theme today is banners and we welcome my gorgeous friend, and fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Melissa Gifford as our guest designer.  I can’t wait for you to hop around and see what banner styles everyone has used!

I made this card a little while ago for a gorgeous new baby. Don’t you just love the name???

Banners | kelly kent

It was made to coordinate with the gift – a personalised towel embroidered by local company Dalyellup Designs.

Banners | kelly kent

Sticking to my mantra this year to let my creativity not be limited by current vs retired, this card features a mix of things you can find in the current Stampin’ Up! catalogues and products from the archives.

The banner die and awesome lettering are both from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue.  I’m sure you’d believe me when I share that I bought the Tasteful Labels Dies just for that stitched banner – it was an instant crush!  The letters with the Foam Adhesive Sheets for extra pop are from the Playful Alphabet Dies – one of the must haves from the catalogue.  The embossing folder is a new pattern from the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalogue – Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders (skinny duo combo packs).

Banners | kelly kent

On the retired side we have a super cute giraffe from the Zoo Babies stamp set,  darling baby sentiment from the Fable Friends stamp set, Whisper White Baker’s Twine and Dressed to Impress DSP.  No point in keeping favourites if you’re not going to use them -right!?!

Banners | kelly kent

I really loved this design so I made a “BABY” version using yellow tones.

Banners | kelly kent

The congrats sentiment is from the Many Mates stamp set.

If you don’t already have the Playful Alphabet Dies, Foam Adhesive Sheets and Tasteful Labels Dies, you can purchase them in my online store – click here to visit.

For more great projects and I’m sure more temptation for the wishlist, please keep hopping and visit Melissa Gifford, our guest designer.

Just Add Ink #504 | Colour Combination

Be still my beating heart, check out the colour combination for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge!

Image may contain: possible text that says 'Join the challenge! Just Add Ink just-add-ink.blogspot.com just- RocoCo Rose Smoky Slate Basic Gray Colour Challenge #504'

I love any colour combination that features gray & a pretty colour.  Yellow and gray is my usual go to, but the inclusion of pink at the suggestion of Tina is wonderful!  I can’t wait to see what the rest of the design team create.  You can see all their creations on the Just Add Ink blog.  You can also join the challenge there by sharing your card in the gallery.

One of my favourite stamp sets for creating baby cards is Fable Friends. The sweet little rabbit is adorable and I love the font for the sentiment!

Unfortunately, this stamp set has grown up and is ready for retirement.  It hasn’t sold out yet – you can still add one to your forever collection in my online store.  Click here to visit.

It must admit, it’s taken me a while to get on board with the gingham craze – and of course it’s right as these gorgeous patterns retire!!  Stampin’ Up! are releasing new colour stacks of DSP.  If you’re a new (or long term) gingham fan, I’d suggest stocking up!  Rococo Rose (featured here) is part of the 2019-2021 In Color pack.  It’s currently in stock AND on special!!!  Click here to visit my online store.  You can also order packs for 2018-2020 In Colors, Brights & Regals (Subtles and Neutrals have sold out already).

Other retiring items on this card are the Whisper White twine (sold out & I’m rocking quietly in the corner!) and the Stitched Labels Dies (still available on the Last Chance Retirement List).

This layout for this card was inspired by this creation by Lisa Arana.  I love a layout that you can adapt to different occasions – and this cut out corner card is a great staple design.

As we head into the weekend, I hope you find some time to relax, to be social and to be creative!

Happy Easter 2020

Happy Easter!  2020 is going to be remembered as the year we stayed home for Easter.  I live south west of WA which is a very popular tourist spot at this time of the year.  Good Friday is normally a steady flow of traffic to the holiday spots of Busselton, Dunsborough & Margaret River.  With regional borders closed, and families asked to stay home, the roads were empty yesterday.

We did a little in-region travelling on Thursday to delivery some essential Easter wishes. With the furthest some people are going is to their letterbox, we’ve been delivering some happy mail each week to family & friends.

These are the gifts I made for my Stampin’ team….

No photo description available.

The Lindt bugs were a perfect size for both delivery and post.  A12nd great for the garden theme created by the floral tones of the Best Dressed DSP and the super cute bunny from the Fable Friends stamp set.

No photo description available.

I made 4 different variations, each with a different green tone to coordinate with the pattern from the Best Dressed DSP.  This DSP is one of my all-time favourites – those flowers *love*.

Mossy Meadow cardstock, bunny has a Rococo Rose jumper

Granny Apple Green cardstock, bunny has a Mango Medley jumper

Old Olive cardstock, bunny has a Purple Posy jumper

No photo description available.

Mint Macaron, bunny has a Lovely Lipstick jumper

No photo description available.

The rest of the bunny was colouring using Ivory Stampin’ Blend.  I usually use this for skin tone, but it’s a lovely option for fur.  The bunnies were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, which is the perfect ink when colouring with Stampin’ Blends or other alcohol markers.

No photo description available.

Which is your favourite?  Is it the colours that you adore or the DSP pattern that wins?

Happy Easter to everyone around the world.  I hope you find an option today to keep you connected with the friends & family you would normally spend this weekend with – by phone, video call or message.

Happy Easter 2019!

Happy Easter to you & your family!  I hope you have a lovely weekend – with a good mix of family, friends, craft & chocolate (and all the things that make Easter special to you).

Easter chocolate is my favourite – so there’ll be a few yummy eggs for me this weekend.

I’ve packaged up a few eggs in a cute little basket.  This project was inspired by Nikki’s Just Add Ink Choose Two creation from last week.  I’ve used the same theme I used for my JAI card – I fell in love with the flower bunny!!!

Click here for the tutorial by chic n scratch.

These cute little boxes could be used for any occasion and are super simple to make.  The dimensions are for US cardstock – which means you need 2 sheets of A4 card to be able to cut the pieces.  It’d be easy to adjust the measurements and I think this is what I’ll do next time I make them.

I’ve filled the box with Ready Shreddie (currently available on the Australian Clearance Rack – click here to view in my online store) and some yummy Cadbury solid eggs.

Of course a gift isn’t complete without a card, so here’s the coordinating card…

The All My Love DSP is one of my favourites and I’ve made sure to stock up on it before it retires.  All the DSP from the 2019 catalogues is retiring – making way for new & amazing patterns from 4th June.  See all the retiring DSP patterns & coordinating cardstock packs here.

Back to the craft table for this lucky duck.  I’ve got a hot cuppa and secret chocolate stash that the kids don’t know about!

Just Add Ink #453 | Add Two

Hello Easter, family time and a long weekend!  What are your plans for this mini break?  Hopefully all of the things that make you happy!

If you have Easter projects still on your to-do list, the Just Add Ink design team have some great creations to inspire you.  The theme for this week is Choose Two – Bunnies, Flowers, Crosses – not strictly Easter, but it does lend itself to that rather nicely!

Image may contain: text

After seeing a totally amazing card on Instagram (see it here), I wanted to create a whimsical card where the Fable Friends bunny had a flower garland.  So this challenge was perfect timing for me to Choose Bunnies & Flowers!

Fable Friends | kelly kent

With a pair of scissors in hand, I spend some time fussy cutting the All My Love DSP.  Quite a bit of time – don’t CASE this card if you don’t like fine cutting with scissors!

Fable Friends | kelly kent

I love the pattern & colours of the All My Love DSP.  I used it for the card background, the flower spray behind the bunny and the flower garland.

Fable Friends | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the Fable Friends stamp set.  I did a little happy dance that this stamp set didn’t appear on the retirement list (read: it’s in the upcoming Annual Catalogue!).  The bunny is adorable!!!  And so are the other characters!

Just Add Ink #447 | Sketch

Hello!  It’s time for another creative challenge from the Just Add Ink team.  This week it’s a sketch challenge by Narelle.

Image may contain: text

For such a simple sketch, I actually found it difficult to get started on this card.  But once I had the concept, it was all go from there!

I ended up turning it on the side widening up those rectangles and using a stamp set that has only just recently arrived – Fable Friends.  These characters are just the sweetest!

Fable Friends | kelly kent

The gingham still isn’t my favourite DSP but I’ll admit that it’s pretty cute on some cards!!!  Which is why I like to own all the DSP – I just buy extra packs of my favourites!  It would seem that lots of people LOVE the Gingham suite though – the DSP has been popular around the world.

Fable Friends | kelly kent

The little bunny from Fable Friends is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then coloured with Stampin’ Blends.  Rather than using two colours to create depth of colour, I used Light Smoky Slate and dark Balmy Blue with the Color Lifter pen.  I love the colour variation it adds!

One cute bunny card didn’t seem to be enough (I’m low on my stock of baby cards at the moment) so it seemed like a good idea to make a pink version too!

Fable Friends | kelly kent

The Blushing Bride version of the card was matched with Tropical Escape DSP and ribbon from the All My Love combo pack in the Occasions catalogue.

More colouring with Blends – the pink is the retired dark Pink Pirouette.

Fable Friends | kelly kent

I seem to be using the Vertical Greetings stamp set quite a lot lately.  I remember when I so desperately wanted a greetings set that ran down rather than across.  I hope this set stays in the range for years to come!

Fable Friends | kelly kent

If this sketch inspires you, please share it with us on the Just Add Ink blog page.  Each week we choose a winner and 2 honorable mentions.  We’d love to add your creation to our list of wonderful projects!

Thanks for visiting today.  If you love making cute baby cards – and with Easter around the corner – I can’t recommend the Fable Friends stamp set enough!  All the product links are in the table at the end of my post.
