Welcome Baby – Not So Wild!

One of the cutest new stamp sets from the new catalogue is “A Little Wild”.

It’s only a little wild because really it’s just super cute!

The stamps have a front & a back of each animal – and matching dies to make them into tags!

I can see all kinds of uses for this bundle, but this week I just used the cute little elephant to create a personalised baby card.

I gave my lightbox another go to take these photos only to decide that I’ve been totally spoilt by natural light in the past few months!

So, I think it’ll be back to my wood table & brick wall for the rest of this week!

The elephant is my favourite stamp from this set – so perfect for new little people!

She’s a little shy looking with closed eyes, but with a Stampin’ Write Marker, I was able to open her up with bright eyes!

A Little Wild | kelly kent

I used one of the cute sentiments in the stamp set to add some prettiness to the inside too!  And another elephant – and some of the gorgeous new washi tape!

A Little Wild | kelly kent

So many pretties!

I love gray as a coordinating colour!  Gray & pink, and gray and yellow are two of my favourite baby combinations!

I’ve got more ‘wild’ projects to share with you later in the week – sparked by an idea I saw on Pinterest!

How many hours a day do you spend on Pinterest compared to actually creating?  I think if you can strike an even balance, you’re doing well!

Colour INKspiration #06

Hello!  Welcome to our second Colour INKspiration for the month of March.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful entries we got for the first challenge for March – #05.  You can see them on our Colour INKspiration Facebook page.

Colour INKspiration #06 gives us a great combination of rich & fresh colours – Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & all things gold!

For me, I just couldn’t move away from the Middle Eastern luxury feel – which led me back to my favourite elephant!!!

He’s definitely around for the next 2 months – so I’m going to be making the most of him!

How cute is the gold touch on his caparison?  That was inspired by this super cute pink elephant card made by Robyn Cardon.

I carried through the colours to create a fun inside of the card too…

I love splatters and have quite a few stamp sets that work well to create that bottom left to top right splatter pattern!

We’d love for you to join us on the Facebook page to see what other stampers are creating with these colours & to share you own creation.

Speaking of amazing creations (because I know yours will be), please hop on to the gorgeous Lou Kitzelman and see hers.  This lady is a never ending bottle of talent!

Thanks for supporting Colour INKspiration.

We’ve been dazzled by your contributions & amazed by how many people keep joining the fun!

Just Add Ink #347 Colour Combination

Just Add Ink Design Team

It’s all about colour this week for the Just Add Ink challenge as we create to this little colour quartet dreamt up by Kim.

Just Add Ink #347

Regals are my least used colour story in the Stampin’ Up! collection.

So, this combo with 2 ‘subtles’ and two regals was definitely a challenge for me.

But, as luck would have it, inspiration struck as I picked up my bag to go out…

Just Add Ink #347 - inspiration photo. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

What if, the Lucky Elephant, wasn’t a solid colour – but fabulously floral – like my bag!

And from there, it all flowed!

{LOVE MY BAG? It was a custom creation many moons ago by Kylie at Sew Fun by Kylie.  I think it’s time for a wash!!!}

One of my favourite Brisbane OnStage presentations was by Angela Meiritz-Reid who had all kinds of wonderful ideas for using the elephant from the Occasions catalogue.

This is one of them – outlining the elephant shape with a marker, rather than inking it up.

Just Add Ink #347. Lucky Elephant. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I then stamped it onto the Inside the Lines DSP, and using the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, I followed the faint markings to create an elephant outline.

Just Add Ink #347. Lucky Elephant. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

From there, it was a matter of colouring the DSP using the challenge colours…

Then snipping it out and adding the beautiful elephant to a card!

I had so much fun colouring my elephant, I decided to make another version – but this time with touches of gold!

Using gold embossing powder, I added a gold caparison to his back.

Never heard of a caparison?  That’s what the blanket on the back of an elephant, horse or donkey is called!

The whole card…

My tip for colouring with the Regals is to try using an Aqua Painter rather than the markers.  It provides a lighter, softer shade of the same colour.

Please join us with your creation by visiting the Just Add Ink blog.

Lucky Elephant Christmas Wishes

I love the cross-over time between being able to pre-order as a demonstrator from the upcoming catalogue and still having current catalogues to play with.

For a short period of time, I can double dip – and have twice as much to play with!!!

Which has the potential for all kinds of crazy creations.

Like these lucky elephant Christmas cards…

CASEing the Catty #106 Favourite Hostess Set

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

It’s a full Sunday today, with another hop for you to enjoy!

Today at CASEing the Catty, it’s all about the hostess sets from the Annual Catalogue – pages 198 – 201 or Holiday Catalogue – page 3.

Images © Stampin' Up!

I’ve already CASEd the Holiday Catalogue for my CTC swaps – you can see my shrink reindeers here.

So, today I’m CASEing the Annual Catalogue, specially the layout from this beautiful card.

Images © Stampin' Up!

I thought this would make a perfect starting point for a card for the baby shower I attended today.

There’s was a ‘no pink’ brief – which I {TOTALLY} ignored!!!

I’m a pink lover and having had 2 girls – I know how hard it is to avoid pink for little girls – it’s everywhere!!!

The biggest Little Miss Papercraft’s favourite colour has always been yellow.  It’s so difficult to get yellow anything for girls!

In fairness, the pink was inspired by this beautiful bandana bib I bought as part of their baby shower gift – which matches our Sweet Sugarplum cardstock perfectly!

So, it’s actually not pink…

CASEing the Catty #106 - Favourite Hostess Set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

And when you add ink all that black, grey, silver & gold, it’s not really all that pink at all!!!

Really!!!  Hopefully they’ll love it and I won’t be the only rule-ignoring guest!

Thanks for joining me! I hope you enjoyed my nursery rhyme cards.

Did you have a favourite?  Was it because of the rhyme or card???  I love them all but always have a soft spot for elephants.

I think they make a fun change for a baby or children’s birthday card!

Next blog for this hop is the fabulous Rochelle – you’ll love what she’s made.  Click next to visit her.

You can also go backward if you’d like to travel from here to Betty’s blog and see the great project she shared.
