Just Add Ink #376 Add D

We recently (well it seems recently, it’s a couple of months ago!) added 5 new design team members to the Just Add Ink Design Team in guest designer roles.

I was excited to hear this week that they have all decided to stay with the design team forever!

So, a big {permanent} welcome to Denita Wright-Smee, Jackie Aitken, Jo Stubbings, Lou Kitzelman & Rachael Lewsley.

You can visit their blogs by clicking on their names above.

Some of them are joining us this week for our Just Add “D” challenge suggested by Tina.

We’d like to see something on your card that you can link to a word or theme starting with “D”.

With this challenge in mind, I was inspired to make cards for the new Design Team members.

There’s a Dapper Denim colour theme, a dazzling dragonfly, glitter dots and diamantes.

Just Add Ink #376 Add D | kelly kent

It’s fun thinking of all the ‘d’ elements!!!

The watercolour background for this card was ‘smooshed’ using ink collected from my Dapper Denim ink pad on a cello bag, spritzed with water then ‘smooshed’ onto the cardstock.

Still my favourite way to add watercolour.  I’m terrible at getting a nice even splash using my Aqua Painter – this is so simple!

Just Add Ink #376 Add D | kelly kent

The sentiment is from the “Born To Be Loved” stamp set – which I think was designed as a baby set, but the sentiments are perfect for a range of situations.

Like celebrating exciting news!

To see all the projects from the design team, visit the Just Add Ink blog.

While you are there, join in the ‘Add D’ challenge by sharing your creation with us using the link up tool.

Danke for visiting!

CASEing the Catty #133 – Love & Sympathy

Welcome to the CASEing the Catty blog hop, which takes place every Sunday.

This week we’re CASEing (Copying & Sharing Everything or Copying & Selectively Editing) the Love & Sympathy pages of the catalogue.

No automatic alt text available.

There’s lot of inspiration tucked away in these pages – and lots of gorgeous projects to start your creative journey.

I was intrigued by the cut out portion of this card…

And decided to recreate it in pinks with a dragonfly theme!

CASEing the Catty #133 | kelly kent

The base is shimmery white.

Using the dragonfly outline die, I cut a dragonfly from the edge of the card and from a separate piece of shimmery white cardstock, I cut the largest detailed dragonfly die.

I adhered the large dragonfly to the inside of the card.

Then, using a retired washi tape (using my jeans first to desticky it a little), I created a mask around the edges and coloured the middle rectangle with my Aqua Painter in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

CASEing the Catty #133 | kelly kent

The final step was to add the embellishments to the front of the card – mini dragonflies, washi tape, sentiment from Happy Birthday Gorgeous & bling – new rhinestones & glitter enamel dots.

I am loving the new washi packs that come in similar colours.  I’ve used the pinks today, which is the Basics Pack 1.

CASEing the Catty #133 | kelly kent

I kept it all in the pink theme, because this card is going to someone who loves pink!

Now it’s your turn to join our weekly challenge!

All the action is over on Facebook.

If you’re interested in a design team opportunity, we’re taking applications in June and looking to add quite a few more design team members to expand on our already awesome team.

Speaking of awesome design team, next up is the gorgeous Liz Gross

Enjoy the creativity on the hop!

OnStage 2017 – Team Presents

We’re on the other side of the OnStage event, and I’m still buzzing.  It was such an amazing day for me.

I’ll share more tomorrow once the blackout is over!

Today I’m sharing the gifts I made for my team to celebrate a fabulous day out!

For each member of my team who attended yesterday, I made them a decorated frame with magnetic sheeting where the photo normally goes.

They can use it however works best for their business, but the use I had in mind was as a place to keep their framelits while they are using them &/or until they get around to putting them away.  No more lost little framelits!

Do you love the dragonfly embellishment???  It’s another shrink film creation!!!

Simply cut the dragonflies from white shrink film, place on a baking tray between 2 sheets of vellum and pop in the oven for 2-3 mins at 150 degrees Celsius.

The colours matched my swaps for the day – it was a celebration of some of my favourites: Bermuda Bay & Sweet Sugarplum!

No gift is ever complete without a beautiful card to go with it!

Of course, I made myself a frame too – and I’m loving having a place to pop my dies while I’m in a flurry of creativity!!!

Would you like a personalised frame?  Join my Paper Adventures team and I’ll deliver or send one to you.

Now is such a fabulous time to join Stampin’ Up! because tomorrow, the new catalogue will be available for demonstrators to view!

You’ll get to pre-order amazing products in May and everything you buy during your time as a demonstrator will be at an amazing 20% discount!!!

As usual, joining Stampin’ Up! comes with no pressure… but join in April and you’ll have until September 2017 to get to the first minimum sales amount (approx $453 retail, less with your discount!).

If this sounds like something you’d love, then I’d love to have you on my Paper Adventures team!  You can join the fun here by purchasing your fully customisable Starter Kit for $169.

CASEing the Catty #121 Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to CASEing the Catty #121 – our final hop featuring the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

That’s right!  As of the end of this month, Sale-A-Bration 2017 will be finished and there won’t be any further chances to redeem Sale-A-Bration products.

There’s lots to choose from across 3 releases – see the gallery at the end of this post for all the choices.

You’re going to love the projects the crew are sharing today.

My CTC projects were a little multi-taskng opportunity.

I caught up with a fabulous friend this weekend who asked me to bring along any blank / no sentiment cards I had lying around.  I was under strict instructions not to make any extra work for myself.

I completely followed those instructions – and created these lovely sentiment free cards for her as part of my CASEing the Catty requirements.

Sneaky – huh?

I love a ‘no sentiment’ card, so these were super fun to make.

What did I CASE you ask???

Well, it was the 2nd release flyer that was part of my plan, since I haven’t yet featured this in a CTC post.

Specifically, the cards on the front cover…

From those samples, to these inspired creations…

The first card used the doily feature, watercolour centrepiece & some of the pieces from Carosels & Cupcakes stamp set.

The next card uses the Stylish Stems Framelits along a centre panel with some of the Sale-A-Bration glimmer paper as a feature.

And the final card uses the sketch layout from the card – but in a monochromatic Night of Navy & Whisper White theme (with a touch of burlap / Kraft).

I can’t pick a favourite… can you?

With Sale-A-Bration nearing to an end, it’s time to stock up on any of your basics and/or buy the items on your wishlist.

You can shop in my online store 24-7 (host code: BCXWWYKA), or email me your order.

Get Your Glimmer before it’s G-O-N-E!!!

There’s a wee bit of panic in the US at the moment because their stocks of the beautiful 6×6″ glimmer paper in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue have run out!

This is one of my all-time favourite SAB gifts!!!

We still have some in the Australian warehouse, but I can’t guarantee how long it will last!

If *have* to have some, then you’ll need to place an order ASAP!  It’s free with every $90 spent.

I’m doing an order tomorrow evening – let me know if you’d like to add anything.

Or, if you want to get in today (just to be sure), then shop online.  Use the host code: BCXWWYKA to qualify for another free gift from me!

This glittery cardstock really is stunning!

It comes in Bermuda Bay…

Sweet Sugarplum…

And Mint Macaron….

Three colours I find it hard to resist!

If you’re going to be sad to miss out on this Sale-A-Bration item – or any other – then don’t leave your order til the last week of March!

They are only available while stocks last or until 31st March 2017 – whichever comes first!!!

Stitched Shapes are Back – Get Yours Today

Great news!  Stitched Shapes Framelits are back & ready to order!

Stitched Shapes Framelits

Did you know that the South Pacific sold out – in less than a month – the supply that was supposed to last until the catalogue launched in June 2017?

There’s a simple reason they were so popular – the stitching adds just the perfect amount of texture to your project, with minimal effort.

I’ve used them on almost every creation I’ve made since I added them to my collection.

Like these sweet dragonfly cards…

CASEing the Catty #111 Sale-A-Bration

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Did you love the switch to Facebook for CASEing the Catty last week?  We had so many amazing entries CASEing the projects from the Party Animal suite & next few pages of the catalogue.  Overall for CTC#110 we were CASEing pages 4-7 of the Occasions Catalogue.

Quite a few people thought they couldn’t participate because they didn’t have the stamp sets in this section.

Hopefully, we’re getting the message out – but just in case you missed it – CTC isn’t about recreating the sample projects in the catalogue, but more taking whatever inspiration you can from the photos.  It might be the layout, colour combination, design feature, stamp set or overall theme.

Let the catalogue start your creative process and see what you come up with!  It’d be great to see more stampers join in again this week.

This week is CTC#111 and it’s all about introducing the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Images © Stampin' Up!

The crew has free range on the whole catalogue this week – I can’t wait to see what sparks everyone’s attention.

For me, it’s another Inside the Lines card – the paper has 4 designs and I’m working my way through them!  You can see two of them here.

My card is a variation of the design at the bottom right of the sample picture above (with perhaps a touch of the top right too):

CASEing the Catty #111 - Sale-A-Bration. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

To achieve this look, I brayered the DSP with Rose Red ink and then coloured the flowers & dragonfly with my new Watercolor Pencils before giving the flowers a once over with an Aqua Painter.

Adding water to the pencils smooths the colour & blends it beautifully.

How pretty is the Rose Red?  One of my team pointed out that I rarely use Rose Red.  Here you go Anne – Rose Red in action!

The dragonfly is embossed in copper, and so is the sentiment, which is from the Sale-A-Bration set “Any Occasion”.

I’m making the effort in 2017 to decorate the insides of my cards.

I’m on beginner level, so it’s a strip of DSP, some dragonflies and a birthday sentiment!

It does add another layer of love to the card.

I’m sure the projects on this hop will inspire some wonderful creativity and add a little more to your wishlist!

Next stop is Miss Rachel and her lovely designs.
