Mother’s Day 2017

Don’t freak out – I’m a day early on the Mother’s Day celebrations!

Nanna Papercraft goes away today so we celebrated last night.

Which means I can share my 2017 Mother’s Day card and gift with you, just in case you’re a deadline runner (like me) and it helps with anything you’re creating this weekend!

Mother’s Day 2017 is all about new catalogue sneak peeks!

Nanna Papercraft’s card is made using the upcoming Wood Textures DSP (absolutely gorgeous), Lovely Words Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Glitter Enamel Dots, Finely Woven Ribbon, Copper Trim and 2 of the new In Colors – Berry Burst & Powder Pink!

That’s a whole lot of new lovelies in my stash!!!  Feeling very lucky right now!

It’s such a wonderful perk of being a Stampin’ Up! demo to have all these items to play with before the catalogue release next month!

And of course, there’s always all my favourites that are carrying over, like Thoughtful Banners.

To match her card, I made a decorated paper cube to go on her craft desk.

The copper trim is truly amazing!  It’s coiled tightly along, but a little teasing and it forms all kinds of shapes.  You have to see this in person!!!

In an absolute stroke of luck, Kmart are currently selling these paper cube pads with rose gold (copper) edging and pink dot pages, which matched my project perfectly!

I do love a fabulously matching project – and if the stationary matches too, well, that just makes my day!!!

Happy Mother’s Day to Nanna Papercraft!  Hope the cocktails are cold, the seas calm and the other passengers aren’t too annoying!

What a Class-y Set: English Garden Decorated Notepad & Card Set

Last night’s revamped class with a matching project set was a huge success!  So much so, that I’m already on the lookout for inspiration for the project set for next month!!! {27th August – who’s joining me?}

I’m still very much in love with the English Garden DSP and it’s pretty patterns, so this was the starting point for the colours & style of our project set.  Thanks to Leonie Schroder tempting me with the Garden of Bloom stamp set in her ESAD blog hop post, we used this to coordinate with the DSP.

I’m also in love with the watercolour effect at the moment – it’s so easy to stamp because it doesn’t have to be perfect or line up to look amazing.  Garden in Bloom lets you stamp bees, flowers, butterflies & leaves to create your own garden scene – or pretty patterns.

The first part of the project was a decorated notepad.  The notepad is A5 (1/4 of an A4 page).

It has a magnetic closure and fancy finish using the Lots of Labels framelits.

The instructions to make yours:

  1. Place a piece of A4 cardstock lengthways (landscape) into your SU! trimmer.  Score at 4-1/8″, 4-14″, 9″ & 9-3/4″
  2. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and place into the trimmer longways (portrait).  Cut at 5-7/8″.
  3. Trim the skinny offcut piece so that it’s 8-1/4″ (making sure you put the edge with the 4-1/8″ score line furthest away from the cut).
  4. Use the Lots of Labels framelit to further cut the fancy edge if desired (the top piece started at 2″ x 3-3/8″ before cutting with the framelit).
  5. Fold along all score lines on cardstock.
  6. Attach the notepad to the inside using Fast Fuse.
  7. Add the closure flap by securing the 4-1/8″ part to the back of the main cardstock piece.  Allow to fold around and then secure flap in place with magnets with Glue Dots.
  8. Decorate the front panel with cardstock (3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″) and DSP (3-5/8″ x 5-3/8″)
  9. Add a Garden in Bloom flower to decorate (Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Rose Red with Old Olive & Mossy Meadow leaves).

The finished set

What a beautiful set – I think they’d make a great gift.  If you start making a couple a week, you’ll have an amazing stash ready for Christmas presents!   Kelly x

PS, this is the link for the magnets I used for the closure: heli.porter.  I also like the 10mm.  They adhere perfectly with our glue dots and are strong enough to hold papercraft creations.
