I’m on a roll with colour challenges this month!
Today’s blog post is a fabulous trio, chosen by Lou, for Just Add Ink #449.
The creative starting point for my card came via Chloe Evans of Chlo’s Craft Closet. Chloe is Just Add Ink alumni, having previously been on the design team, so it was fun to have her provide the inspiration for my card.
Chloe shared a couple of cards on the weekend using strips of cardstock to create a base layer, and then using the Well Said bundle to add sentiments.
These fun & bright colours look great as a stripy background.
The cupcake is fussy cut from the How Sweet It Is DSP. There’s matching framelits for this DSP too if you love the sweet theme and have no patience for cutting the cute images out. I love how many of the DSP patterns now come with coordinating framelits. The final touch was some glitter dots as sprinkles.
This project is made much easier with multipurpose adhesive sheet. Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to size (mine is 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″), add MPAS and then lay your strips across the adhesive. Trim the edges and you have an awesome background for your card. Experiment by using different WW bases, different size strips and different colours.
Tip: MPAS is also amazing when you’re cutting out the words from Well Written. No messy glue and a perfect finish!

Hello – thanks for joining me & my international stamping friends for another Stamp Review Crew hop.
Today’s theme is Sweet Cupcake. This was one of the first sets I remember Stampin’ Up! releasing that had a truly 3D theme using 3 step stamping. When you get the cupcake & candle pieces lined up just right – the effect is amazing!
Both of these items are on the retirement list – and the framelits are available at a 20% discount in the South Pacific (Australian & New Zealand) market. Until 31st May 2018 or stocks run out.
I’ve used the Sweet Cupcake stamp set with some other retiring favourites to create a very pretty pink card!!! As well as Calypso Coral & Blushing bride for the cupcake, I’ve snuck in the new Petal Pink cardstock (available 1st June 2018).
I was a little stumped on what I could make with this stamp set that was different to what was already floating about on Pinterest. So, I left my creating til the very last minute!!! Inspiration did finally strike thanks to Katrina Duffell who was the guest designer for our team hop on Friday evening.
Katrina created a gorgeous card where she stamped directly onto a Delicate White Doily. The result was sensational – and I thought I’d try it out with the cupcake stamps.
Doesn’t it look cute!!!
The card was finished with pretty pink DSP from the Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP in the Occasions catalogue (also retiring), the happy birthday sentiment from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set (one of my favourite happy birthdays!) and some Glitter Enamel Dots (on the retirement list also!!). There was quite a liberal use of Wink of Stella to finish the cupcake (thankfully not on the retirement list – sparkles finish every card perfectly!).
I went from uninspired to loving the final product! Thanks Katrina. You can see her inspirational card by clicking here.
I can’t wait for you to see what the rest of the crew create using this stamp set! Next up is the amazingly talented Jay Soriano in the UK –
Thanks for hopping with us. Don’t forget to shop online for all your retirement list favourites before they are sold out.

This week at Just Add Ink, we are creating using this great sketch by Tina.
Did I mention how much I love sketches???
I have used this one quite literally and created a sweet cupcake birthday card using some of my favourite colours.
It always amazes me how realistic and beautiful the 3-step stamping ends up being.
The icing is Sweet Sugarplum & Blushing Brie and the cupcake wrapper is Crumb Cake & Soft Suede.
I used ‘stamping off’ for the Sweet Sugarplum & Crumb Cake to achieve some colour variations.
And of course – I finished it all off with a liberal dose of clear wink of stella glitter!
Please join us this week & enter a card or project you’ve created using the JAI sketch. You can find the link-up here.
You’ll also want to check out the rest of the design team creations – so much inspiration! And that’s why I love sketch challenges!!!
Every now & again I buy stamp sets that just tickle my fancy.
When I saw Live, Love, Grow in the catalogue, it looked fun and I couldn’t wait to add it to my order.
It might look to be all about the greenery, but scroll down for more inspiration!
Of course, first up, I had to make a beautiful terranium with shades of greenery – Old Olive & Pear Pizzazz…
But, my ideas didn’t stop there.
The terranium dome also makes a great cupcake cloche….
And it would make a great fairy catcher … if they could be caught!
Have you seen other great ideas for the Live, Love, Grow stamp set??? Leave me a comment and I’ll check them out!
Made using the new Sweet Cupcake bundle, this birthday gift set is a gluten-free, dairy-free & calorie-free scrumptious delight!
Buy the stamps & framelits as a bundle & save 10%!
There’s 3 steps to the icing & cake wrapper elements which creates a wonderfully 3-D effect.
This cupcake is Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum & Rich Razzleberry with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
The wrapper/paper (what do you actually call it?) is Soft Suede & Crumb Cake (stamped off for the bottom layer).
Can you spot the other new products I’ve used for this card???
There’s the Layering Circles Framelits, Seaside embossing folder & Classic Label punch. Oh, and my very favourite Sweet Sugarplum cardstock!!!
Once my card was made, I wanted a little something to pop in the envelope to make it a birthday gift. And that little something was a bookmark.
I like it when things are all matchy-matchy, so I kept with the Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride & Silver glimmer colour theme. Plus the same Seaside embossing folder background, but I added the flower from the Sunshine Wishes thinlit set.
But no birthday sentiment on this one. I masked out the ‘you’ on the stamp and just inked up ‘happiness’. Punched it out with the Classic Label punch and snipped off the ends!
Sometimes it’s the little ‘hacks’ that makes for clever crafting. Do you have a great tip – leave me a comment & share your genius!
