Just Add Ink #459 | Colour Challenge

Hello!  It’s time for a colour challenge at Just Add Ink this week.  This quartet of colours challenged me a little – pink AND red TOGETHER – matched with aqua….. but as always, once I got over the shock, it was fun to put together some colours outside of my comfort zone.

Although still tempting to play with the preorder items I have from the upcoming 2019-2020 catalogue, I’m using these last few design team challenges before changeover to get ink on some rather lovely stamp sets that have been collecting dust.

Today it’s time to feature the Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cup dies.  I’m not a coffee drinker, so I thought it would be fun to turn the takeaway coffee cup into a pretty cup of tea.

I’ve used the Colour Collection DSP for the background and the coffee cup.  The current patterns are all on the Last Chance Retirement List – we’re getting new patterns soon!  If you’re the type of crafter who wants it all (NOW!), check out my post from earlier in the week about the paper shares I’m coordinating.  It’s the best way to get it all.  Click here to visit that post.

The sentiment dies for this card are from the Well Written Dies – thankfully returning for another year!

How cute is that little tea bag???  The heart is from the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch – also on the Last Chance Retirement List.  Builder punches are great for all the diverse shapes they contain!

I’ve just realised as I finish writing the post, that there’s no visible stamping on this card!  I do love my die cutting!!!  I did actually stamp the coffee cup outline onto the polka dot Pool Party DSP – but then I cut around it with paper snips to fit inside the die cut, so you can’t tell I did any stamping at all!  How about that!!!

If this colour combination excites your creativity, head over to the Just Add Ink blog to add your card to our challenge.  You can also see all the design team cards there too – there’s lots of amazing ideas with these colours.

Thanks for visiting!

Punch Art Week of Power – Favourites & Tea

So much love in this post!  Starting with punch art .. I love my punch art … though I’ve come to realise that my punch art isn’t limited to just punches.  I also use quite a lot of ‘die cuts’ – created using framelits, thinlits & edgelits (and of course my trusty Big Shot).  Anything that creates a shape contributes to ‘punch art’.

The main punch art shape for this card uses the Curvy Keepsake Box Die to create a cute little mug – what a great idea and a versatile use of an already popular die.  Tea is a favourite of mine (have you noticed?), as is the Keepsake Box!  This punch art idea was found on another favourite – Pinterest and comes from Vicki Hayes (who is on the Artisan Design Team).  You can see it here.

I am also loving participating in challenges at the moment.  They are a deep well of inspiration & guidance to give you a start on a project or card.  This card was inspired by sketch #158 at Freshly Made Sketches and the colour combination/photo inspiration over at Just Add Ink #236 (two of my favourite weekly challenges).  What are your favourites of the moment?  I confess that my top loves change regularly.  It makes sense though – there’s so much to love!  Kelly x
