CASEing the Catty #157 | Case a Colour Combination

How’s your Christmas card prep going?

I’d like to say I’m organised, but Christmas is coming at me so fast…!

Thankfully, there’s challenges like CASEing the Catty to keep me inspired with new card designs each week.

This week at CASEing the Catty, we are finding inspiration from a colour combination within the pages of either the Annual Catalogue or Holiday Catalogue.

No automatic alt text available.

Since I’m on a mission to get some Christmas cards created, I chose the colours from the Merry Little Christmas suite – pages 10-13 of the Holiday Catalogue.

I love the contrast of the Black & Old Olive . It’s not quite modern, not quite traditional!!

This is my card using an eclectic mix of some of my favourite Stampin’ Up! products…

I love mixing and matching the items in my collection – it means you’re always sure to get an interesting finish.

Just Add Ink #387 | Colour Combination

With just over a month til the big day, Nikki is officially kicking off Christmas crafts with this Christmassy colour combination for our Just Add Ink challenge.

Image may contain: text

There’s nothing like red, green & white to get you in the Christmas mood!

Of course, there’s nothing limiting you to Christmas!  I’d love to see some amazing creations for other seasons.

I was unable to break out of the Christmas mold, and used one of my favourite new bundles – Musical Season.

Just Add Ink #387 Colour Challenge | kelly kent

All colour challenges have the option to add any neutral or metallic, so you’ll see some variation in the design team projects with the additional of these colours.

I’ve added in an embossed Crumb Cake base (using the Ruffled Embossing Folder), a little drummer boy in Archival Black and some (sadly retired) gold twine.

Just Add Ink #387 Colour Challenge | kelly kent

The Garden Green layer across the middle of the card is made by tearing some copy paper and using this to cover the top & bottom of the Whisper White cardstock.  I then coloured in Garden Green ink using my brayer and stamped the Sheet Music stamp over the top in Black Archival ink.

Just Add Ink #387 Colour Challenge | kelly kent

This technique is fun for a variety of cards, but I love that I can extend the music theme for this card.

I just can’t give it to someone too musical – no one that can actually read the music notes!!  I believe the Sheet Music stamp is the music for Fur Elise, which is not that Christmassy!!!

Please join us over at the Just Add Ink blog to see all the design team creations and add your red, white & green masterpiece.

Colour INKspiration #18

Hello!  It’s time for another colour INKspiration challenge.

For this fortnight, we’re crafting with these colours colours (and this totally amazing inspiration pic)…

Image may contain: people sitting, plant, motorcycle, flower and outdoor

Pink, gray and neutrals – plus, any green of your choice.

This card was made for our newest design team member – Jackie Aitken.  Check out her first project with us – it’s sensational!

I used quite a few features of the inspiration picture to try something totally different for me – a busy card with lots of texture!!!

Colour INKspiration #18 | kelly kent

My green of choice was Pear Pizzazz for some touches of ‘greenery’ in my planter boxes.

Colour INKspiration #18 | kelly kent

I added Sweet Sugarplum ink to the embossing paste to make a cute pink brick wall.

Have you tried this?  It’s easy and fun to colour the embossing paste!

The floral shapes come from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits – it’s a great set!

And the butterfly is cut from the new Champagne Foil – so pretty!!!

This is a fabulous set of colours and the design team have an amazing range of projects to share with you!

You can continue the hop by visiting the delightful Lou Kitzelman and her cute pink project!

Don’t forget, you can add any green to the quartet – Powder Pink, Basic Gray, Sahara Sand & Sweet Sugarplum.

And any metallics!

Can’t wait to see what you upload to our Facebook Challenge page.  Click here to jump on over.

Beachy Little Christmas

In the same theme as yesterday’s post, I want to share another stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue that lends itself to a number of different occasions.

Today it’s all about Beachy Little Christmas…

This set was modelled on some of our iconic beachy images here in Australia.

In a catalogue full of snowflakes, it’s a great alternative option – perfect for our summery climate at this time of the year.

The stamp set comes with Christmas-like sentiments, so the first card I’m sharing is for Christmas.

I’ve used a colour theme that screams ‘beach’ to me – Sahara Sand, Pool Party & Whisper White.

The background is made using the faux woodgrain technique on glossy white cardstock, but in beachy colours – Soft Sky base and Pool Party & Bermuda Bay streaks – to emulate a water scene.

Beachy Little Christmas | kelly kent

All those gorgeous pastels!!!  I love non-traditional Christmas card colours!

Beachy Little Christmas | kelly kent

The second card uses the same colours, but this time I’ve left off the sentiment and used it as a birthday card.

Beachy Little Christmas | kelly kent

The Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder is a great coordinating products for the beach shack stamp.

Beachy Little Christmas | kelly kent

I’m always on the lookout for multiple options for the stamp sets I buy.  I want to know that I’m adding value and creativity to my stash.

I’m hopeful that many Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and customers will purchase the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set and support the efforts from the corporate design team for the Christmas range to be inclusive of all geographical areas.  Fingers crossed for a surfing Santa or 6 White Boomers stamp in a future design!!!

Colour INKspiration #14

The colours this week for Colour INKspiration are lovely!

Image may contain: one or more people and shoes

Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry, Soft Sky & Night of Navy.

Warm, inviting and adorable!

I started this card by testing out something on my to-do list – colouring embossing paste using a reinker & Isocol solution in a Stampin’ Spritzer.

The colour in the spritzer looked intense, but it was much less intense when sprayed!

This is what it looked like before I started layering other embellishments on the card….

Colour INKspiration #14 | kelly kent

It ended up being a great way to get different tones of the challenge colours.  The Night of Navy is a very light version!

The card was a thank you to go with an order for a grandmother & granddaughter duo that love all the new Stampin’ Up! products.

I wanted to show them some of the things they bought, together with some other things they might like to add on their next order.

Creating doilies using the Eastern Medallions Framelits is one of my favourite uses for that set – so that was the next layer in Rich Razzleberry.

And then some of the gorgeous trims from the new catalogue.

Colour INKspiration #14 | kelly kent

I’m very in love with these three options – crinkled ribbon, mini sequin trim & shimmer ribbon!

Apologies for the slightly average photo of this card – it’s been a washout here with not so much sunlight!!!

Colour INKspiration #14 | kelly kent

I may have gotten a little over excited about my ribbon use and realised once my card was all made that the shimmer ribbon is actually Pool Party (not Soft Sky)!

I’m calling it close enough – and using it as a good time to mention that you don’t have to have exact colour matches to join in with Colour INKspiration.

Please use the closest match you have in your collection and share your creation on our Colour INKspiration Challenge Facebook page.

To see what the rest of the design team created with this wonderful quartet of colour, continue the hop to visit the lovely Tanya Bell.

I’m sure Tanya used the right colours!  She’s great with details!!!

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  I hope you had a wonderful Friday and have a weekend that you can look forward to!

Welcome to another Paper Adventures team blog hop.  We’ve got a great theme for you today!

Siobhan selected a red, white & blue theme since July is filled with theses colours around the world – particularly Independence Day & Bastille Day.

So, for today’s hop, the team are creating with all or some of these red, white & blue Stampin’ Up! colours…

Image may contain: text

As well as international celebrations, these colours always remind me of a nautical theme!

With the new Message in a Bottle stamp set in my hot little hands, I set out to create a card using the cute little boat stamp.

Paper Adventures Blog Hop | kelly kent

I added a father’s day sentiment – it’s only July, but Father’s Day always seems to sneak up on me, so I wanted to start early!!!

Paper Adventures Blog Hop | kelly kent

There’s not too many options for Father’s Day at the moment (our Father’s Day is out of sync with the US date which is in June!), but the Thoughtful Banners stamp set has a great range of sentiments including some for Dad!

Just Add Ink #362 – Colour Combo

Happy New Catalogue Day!   If you need more details and to see my top 10 list- see my post from this morning.

Tonight I’m sharing a card I made using the Just Add Ink Challenge Colours and some of the products from the 2017-2018 that are no longer upcoming, but here!!!

Image may contain: text

I, and I’m imaging many other crafters, will admit to these colours being out of my comfort zone.  Orange isn’t on high rotation for me – and with aqua/teal/blue…. I had to dig deep!

But they call it a challenge – yes?

I had fun putting my new products together.

This card is made using the Daisy Delight bundle (stamp set & punch) with the Eastern Medallions Thinlits.

Just Add Ink #362 Colour | kelly kent

The daisy is layered 3 times for lots of texture.  I stamped each daisy on Whisper White cardstock in Peekaboo Peach, coloured it with more Peach ink using my Aqua Painter and then cut each daisy out.

Don’t forget when mounting your daisy stamp, that you want to have petals pointing straight up & down (ie, 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock).  Stamp this way onto your cardstock and it will make it lining up the punch a breeze!

Just Add Ink #362 Colour | kelly kent

When putting the daisy layers together, space so that petal takes up a third of the gap between the petals (12 o’clock, 4 o’ clock, 8 o’clock).

If you try to put it in the middle (at 6 o’clock), the third daisy will sit behind the first.

Just Add Ink #362 Colour | kelly kent

How cute is that medallion as a backdrop?  The Eastern Palace Suite was available during May as a pre-release but only in a bundle.  You can now buy each products from the suite individually.

I highly recommend you add the Eastern Medallion Thinlits to you collection!

I carried the theme through to the inside of the card…

Just Add Ink #362 Colour | kelly kent

Make sure to visit the Just Add Ink blog where you can see the cards made by the design team.

Hopefully this will inspire you to add your own entry.  We’d love to see what you make!

There seems to be a common theme with the design team creations this week.  Can you guess what it is???

Colour INKspiration #10

Another amazing fortnight of challenge entries!

If you’re not already on our challenge page over on Facebook, join us to for wonderful ideas shared every day by crafters just like you!

It’s our 10th challenge this week – which is a wonderful achievement for Bronwyn Eastley and the Colour INKspiration team.

If you’re already on your way hopping, did you love what Denita made?  I always admire her creativity.

The colours for Colour INKspiration #10 are amazing {again} and will stretch the way in which you look at your crafting projects.

Cajun Craze, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate and Delightful Dijon!

This is the last time the crew will play with Delightful Dijon as it’s set to retire next week.

Have you bought all the items you *need* from the retirement list?  Next week it’ll be all about the new catalogue!

When I first sat down to play with these colours, I was raiding Nanna Papercraft’s craft room while she’s on holidays.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but Delightful Dijon is an absolutely perfect colour for beer!

So, with the Mixed Drinks stamp set in my hand, this is what I created for Colour INKspiration #10….

Colour INKspiration #10 | kelly kent

Lots of Island Indigo & Smoky Slate – because I love them!

Whisper White to break all those strong colours up (don’t forget you can use any neutral or metallic in your Colour INKspiration project).

Delightful Dijon – because it makes fantastic beer!

And just a touch of Cajun Craze for the sentiment to finish the challenge!

I’m not sure if you’ve looked at the Mixed Drinks stamp set (it’s awesome!)…

There’s only one beer mug?  How did I get it to ‘clink’ I hear you ask?!?

Colour INKspiration #10 | kelly kent

I used the reflection technique to flip it over.

Stamp in Versamark & emboss the beer mug as normal.

Then, stamp it again on Window Sheet.  Turn the window sheet upside down and very carefully (it’s slippery and wants to slide away from you producing a truly spectacular beer googles effect!) press down on the stamped image.  This will transfer it to the cardstock -as a mirror image.  Emboss as usual and colour both images with an Aqua Painter and Delightful Dijon ink.

I’ve also put a special touch on the inside.

If you’re going to send a beer themed card, you should probably send beer money…

Colour INKspiration #10 | kelly kent

Personally, I’d rather stamping money… but I guess they don’t hold the same appeal for everyone!

Next up for some colourful inspiration is my gorgeous friend Lou Kitzelman

And join us on Facebook for the challenge.  It runs for three weeks, so plenty of time to get inky!

Just Add Ink #357 Colour Combination

Hello!  Thanks for joining me for Just Add Ink #357.

It’s always a pleasure to design cards for a challenge – and this colour combination, put together by Jan, is a dream!

This sweet card is on it’s way to brighten someone’s letterbox.  I try to send as many handmade cards as I can – it really is a wonderful feeling to check the letterbox and take out something pretty!

I’ve used the Rose Garden thinlit, deconstructed into Sweet Sugarplum blossom & Island Indigo leaves, which I’ve stapled to the Sahara Sand panel.

I love stapling on cards – it’s mess-free, quick, easy & gives the pieces of the card movement.

But of course, you don’t always want them showing – so for this card, I’ve covered them up with a Very Vanilla Thick Twine bow.

If you’ve tried to order pearls in the last couple of weeks you’ll noticed that they have disappeared!  Don’t worry, they’ll be back on 1st June 2017 when the new catalogue starts in a configured format.  I haven’t seen them yet, but I hear they are flatter – perfect for mailing!

I’m still trying to decorate the inside of my cards (and the envelopes too!)…

It adds such a nice touch to open a card up and see more prettiness!

Do you have someone in mind this week to send a handcrafted card to?  Make a list of people that you’d like to shower with paper happiness!!!

Use our colour challenge combination for your card and share your creation with us on the Just Add Ink blog.

You’ll also find the rest of the design team cards – and with colours as beautiful as these, you know the range of projects will be stunning!!!

Colour INKspiration #06

Hello!  Welcome to our second Colour INKspiration for the month of March.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful entries we got for the first challenge for March – #05.  You can see them on our Colour INKspiration Facebook page.

Colour INKspiration #06 gives us a great combination of rich & fresh colours – Night of Navy, Pool Party, Calypso Coral & all things gold!

For me, I just couldn’t move away from the Middle Eastern luxury feel – which led me back to my favourite elephant!!!

He’s definitely around for the next 2 months – so I’m going to be making the most of him!

How cute is the gold touch on his caparison?  That was inspired by this super cute pink elephant card made by Robyn Cardon.

I carried through the colours to create a fun inside of the card too…

I love splatters and have quite a few stamp sets that work well to create that bottom left to top right splatter pattern!

We’d love for you to join us on the Facebook page to see what other stampers are creating with these colours & to share you own creation.

Speaking of amazing creations (because I know yours will be), please hop on to the gorgeous Lou Kitzelman and see hers.  This lady is a never ending bottle of talent!

Thanks for supporting Colour INKspiration.

We’ve been dazzled by your contributions & amazed by how many people keep joining the fun!
