Just Add Ink #383 | Add Cake

Chloe has suggested adding ‘cake’ for Just Add Ink this week.

What a fabulous theme!

Everyone loves cake – yes???  Or at least the icing!

Hands up who’s been to a birthday party where your child has only eaten the icing from the cake!  That’s me!!!  Always holding (and eating) a plate of second hand cake!

My inspiration for this card came from the current cake decorating trend of ‘drip’ cakes.

This is something I could never achieve in actual baking!!!

But playing with paper – that’s a different story!

It turns out the straw from the Coffee Cups Framelits makes for excellent drips!

I wonder if I didn’t tell you this was a cake inspired creation if you’d be able to tell!  But hopefully you can see it….Just Add Ink #383 | kelly kent

Pink, gold & white is a lovely colour combination – but doesn’t the leafy green just brighten it up!Just Add Ink #383 | kelly kent

CASEing a Coffee Card

I hit up the catalogue this week for a card using the Coffee Cafe stamp set.

Do you ever use your catalogue for inspiration?

CASEing refers to “Copy And Share Everything” or “Copy And Selectively Edit”.

When I first joined Stampin’ Up!, the Annual Catalogues were marketed as ‘ideas books’.  And it’s such a good description.

The pages are filled with ideas for colour combinations, layouts, techniques & other ways you can use your Stampin’ Up! supplies.

This gorgeous photo shows so many ideas for the Coffee Break Suite…

Coffee Break Designer Series Paper

Cards inspired from the catalogue can either be a direct copy of what you see, a mix of elements or a starting point for your own creation.

My finished card used the layout at the right of the catalogue photo, the DSP background from the card above it and added some copper heat embossing & woodgrain textured embossing (which I have realise as I write this, is not longer current!).

If you already love using the catalogue for inspiration, or if it’s a new concept to you, you might want to join our CASEing the Catty Facebook page.

Each week we select a catalogue category or theme and set a challenge for you to ‘CASE’ the catalogue.

I find my best creations often come out of challenges!

Be inspired!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Hostess Sets

Hello!  I’m about half way through my quiet August, thanks to everyone that has joined me on Facebook, subscribed to my blog ready for September or visited old posts!

What have I been up to???  I’ve still been creating – birthday cards, cards for friends, cards for orders and some cards just for fun!

I’ve also had early nights, watched a few hours of terrible tv (and some good tv too), read some books, caught up with friends, spent time with my family and focused on my Paper Adventures team.

I, with 6 of my team registered on Tuesday to attend the next OnStage event in November.  We’ve chosen to visit beautiful Melbourne and I’m very excited!!!  The event is so popular that it sold out in 5 hours!

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Tonight I’m popping back into the blog to participate in my Paper Adventures team blog hop.

The theme for August is ‘host sets’.  These sets are only available for purchase with hostess rewards, which can be earnt on any order over $250 in Australia.  This can be your order alone, a combined order with family/friends or the order from a workshop held in your home. And the even better news for host sets is that they have a special price – usually 50% of the suggested retail price.

There’s 6 host sets in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue…

I needed to make a card for a couple who bought their first home – but I wanted it to be fun!

So, I made a neighbourhood with moveable cars & trucks!

Paper Adventures team blog hop | kelly kent

The track was made using the straw die from the Coffee Cups Framelits.  I made the first road and then just kept cutting intersecting roads until my streets were complete.

Paper Adventures team blog hop | kelly kent

The houses are white embossed and the roads marked with white gel pen.

The cars & truck are attached to washers, which are separated with dimensionals, allowing them to slide along the roads.  They get a bit stuck at the corners, but that’s ok!!!

Paper Adventures team blog hop | kelly kent

Interactive cards are always so much fun to make and an exciting way to celebrate the happy news of a new house.

The In The City stamp set is totally amazing (as you’ll see on this hop).  There’s 60 photopolymer stamps in the set – which makes the options endless for creating cards!

Next up on our team hop is Anne Barker (via Facebook) with a totally different In The City project – it’s pink & oh so pretty!!!

WWYS #127 Coffee Cafe Guest Designer

Hello!  I love challenges and try to play along with different ones as my time permits.

A couple of weeks ago, I joined in with What Will You Stamp for their Daisy Delight challenge.

I was ‘delighted’ to be chosen as the winner, and was asked to guest design for this week’s challenge.

The stamp set for this week is Coffee Cafe.

What Will You Stamp #127 Coffee Cafe

As you know, I love the DSP for this suite!!!

And that has given me a strong association for cards in the suite colours – browns, blues & greens!

So, for my WWYS #127 card, I wanted to go the total opposite and stamp using pinks, purples and greys!

And I love it!!!

WWYS#127 Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

I used the ‘frappe’ stamps and dies for this card – ones I hadn’t played with yet.

And remembered to stamp on DSP, using it for the coffee cup base!  How pretty is the Petal Garden DSP!?!

WWYS#127 Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

The sentiment is cut from the larger sentiment to just say ‘friend’ (white embossing on Rich Razzleberry).

The background is a mix of the coffee beans from the Coffee Cafe stamp set and the circle stamp from Timeless Textures – they are a great coffee stain pattern and similar to the one used in the DSP.

Thanks to What Will You Stamp for having me this week!

You can pop over to the What Will You Stamp blog to see all the cards from the design team and add your Coffee Cafe creation to the challenge.

You could be the next guest designer!!!

Stamp Review Crew – Coffee Cafe

Hello!  What does this lovely Monday hold for you?

It’s week one of the winter school holidays here, so we are having fun between showers, rugging up against the cold and spending some quality time inside!

Winter weather is always a great excuse to put on a movie and spend some time at the craft table as well – so there’s been some of that too!!!

I’ve been busy over the last week putting together not one, but four cards for today’s Stamp Review Crew blog hop featuring the Coffee Cafe stamp set, together with the coordinating Coffee Cups Framelits dies and wonderful Coffee Break DSP.  This suite is great for all occasions!

Prepare to be dazzled as you zoom around the world on a coffee filled adventure with some surprises along the way!

The hop goes around in a circle, so you may have already visited the gorgeous Twila Davis in the US!  The link at the end of this post continues the hop for you – to Bronwyn Eastley, a lovely demonstrator in Tasmania who I love to be able to call a friend!

I initially had a difficult time brewing ideas for this hop (pun intended!) but once I got started, they just flowed!

I’ve kept with the suite colours & overall theme for these designs – I just love the DSP!!!

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

Here’s all the cards in more detail – warning, lots of photos to come!!!

The first card is a lovely generic sentiment card that would be perfect for any number of occasions.

It really highlights how awesome the DSP is!

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

And features one of the great sentiments in the stamp set.

I love that it fits in the belly band – which makes it easy to add!

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

Did you spy those cute little cups on either side of the main coffee image?  They are fussy cut from the DSP – endless possibilities!

The next card has a hard-hitting statement… because you know if someone loves you  more than their coffee, it’s got to be a lot!

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

The “I Love You” is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set – the font is a lovely compatible match for the “coffee” wording which I’ve stolen from the large sentiment in this stamp set.

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

I tried a few different lettering options for the ‘more than’ text and in the end I decided that my handwriting emulated when the cafe writes your name on the takeaway cup.

During my collating ideas process, I tried to come up with a card that used the name writing on the coffee cup idea in a funny way – you know, like “Stephen with a ph”… I’m still working on it!

Card #3 is my favourite… I think!

I’ve seen this idea on coffee mugs and thought it went well with the ‘life happens’ sentiment.

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

We all have that friend who {does not} function until they’ve had their first coffee of the day?!?!  Maybe you live with one?

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

And the final card is a cello bag shaker card – because those little coffee beans are too cute!!!

Stamp Review Crew - Coffee Cafe | kelly kent

I love a good pun – so the ‘thanks a latte’ sentiment tickles my fancy!
