Stamp Review Crew | Sale-A-Bration

It’s always a pleasure to be hopping with my stamping friends from around the world.  Today we’re all sharing projects we’ve made with Sale-A-Bration catalogue items.

Sale-A-Bration is the most wonderful time of year – who doesn’t love free stuff for working their way through their Stampin’ Up! wishlist.  You can see all the Sale-A-Bration items for 2020 by clicking here.

The Sale-A-Bration stamp set I have most fallen in love with this year was a big surprise for me.  I instantly loved the meerkat set (The Gang’s All Meer) but it has actually been the Happy Birthday to You stamp set that has been my fave!

The cake is just stunning, the sentiments gorgeous and the flowers can be cut separately – which adds so many more options for this set.

I created these three cards using my favourite technique with this set – white embossing and watercolouring.  The cakes just pop!

I’ve matched the colours for each card with the colours in the Best Dressed DSP for three different variations.

Before you start thinking that I’ve got this fussy cutting down to a fine art, I’ll share with you that Stampin’ Up! released a range of coordinating products to match some of the Sale-A-Bration & Mini catalogue items.  So, if you love the Happy Birthday to You stamp set and plan to choose it as your Sale-A-Bration free product, make sure to add the coordinating Birthday Dies to your order ($47 – 153590).

CASEing the Catty #219 | Gingham Gala

There’s nothing like a weekly blog hop to make you realise how quickly the weeks roll around.  Hello March!!!

This week at CASEing the Catty we’re celebrating the Gingham Gala suite and subsequent pages of the catalogue.

No photo description available.

Gingham isn’t usually my go-to favourite, but it’s growing on me!  I loved the brightness of this card on page 34 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I used strips of Gingham Gala DSP across a landscape Whisper White thick card base and added a cupcake centrepiece

I’ve translated lots of elements from the original card into my version – the gingham DSP, use of white twine, flowers & Grapefruit Grove sentiment.  They are now just in cake form!!!  There’s so many options in the Piece of Cake stamp set, I feel like I’m still creating with new cakes for each card.Gingham Gala | kelly kent

I’ve used the colours from the Gingham Gala suite to create the cake elements – Highland Heather for the swirly frame, Grapefruit Grove for the cake and coordinating flowers with Stampin’ Blends.

Although I’m generally a ‘straight’ kinda girl when it comes to adding pieces to my cards, I loved the wonky overlapping effect of layering the DSP.  This came about because I cut the DSP into 1″ strips without doing the maths – and then they didn’t fit.  I wasn’t cutting them again, so I just added them all on top of each other!

There’s more to this challenge than Gingham – be inspired by pages 34-37 of the Occasions Catalogue and share your projects with us on the CASEing the Catty Facebook page.

Thank you for hopping with us today.  The next fabulous design team member is visit is Siobhan Fitzsimmons with her beautiful butterfly creations.

Have a great week!  I hope it involves lots of stamping!

Just Add Ink #443 | Choose Two – Colouring & Sequins

Every time I design for Just Add Ink I think about how much I love the variety of challenges!  I can’t pin down a favourite but I always love the creativity that comes from a “Choose Two” challenge.

This week it’s a choice of embossing paste, colouring or sequins!

As always, I could have gone in so many different directions with this theme.  I was tempted to dig my unnecessarily unloved embossing paste out, but in the end decided on colouring and sequins for a shaker card.

When Stampin’ Up! added rectangle framelits, I knew I was going to love them!  They make everything pretty and shaker cards an absolute ‘piece of cake’.

I started by repeatedly stamping the candles across the bottom of the card base and coloured them with Stampin’ Blends – Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Bermuda Bay & Granny Apple Green.  I chose these colours based on the DSP spots.

The frame was cut using two rectangle framelits (2 sizes apart) and backed with Window Sheet.  To create the depth ready for my shaker sequins, I lined the back with a border of Foam Adhesive Strips and adhered it to a piece of How Sweet It Is DSP cut 1/4″ bigger than the frame size.

And then finished it off with a pretty drip cake and more candles from the Piece of Cake bundle. I love the variety of cakes and embellishments in the stamp set.  And being able to cut it out with a punch is great for saving time and having a beautiful neat finish.  I don’t mind fussy cutting, but give me a punch any day!

This bundle is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!  So amazing in fact that it’s almost sold out in Australia and once current stocks have been depleted, it won’t be orderable again til new stock arrives in mid-late March.  If you haven’t already added it to your collection, I suggest a quick little order!  Click here to view in my online store.
