Just Add Ink #487 | Sketch

Whoops!  Did you get a blank email from me today where this post should have been?  I started it earlier in the week and had grand plans to finish it – but it’s been one of those weeks with unexpected stuff happening left right & centre and I didn’t get back to it in time before it published.

No photo description available.

So, my Just Add Ink card isn’t in fact invisible for this fab sketch challenge created for us this week by Jackie Aitken.  It looks like this…

The butterflies are cut down from the Butterfly Beauty Dies in Whisper White cardstock.  I’ve layered two different Pretty Peacock DSP designs from the Woven Threads pack with more Whisper White in between the layers and then on to a Whisper White Thick mat.  The placement of the butterflies over the mandalas on the DSP was completely by accident – but I always love a happy accident (in life and cardmaking!).

The sentiment is in Night of Navy, stamped from the Welcome to the Team stamp set – one of my favourites in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.  In fact, all products used for this card are from the Annual Catalogue, because although we tend to move our focus forward with each new catalogue release, there are still plenty of wonderful products available for the full year of the catalogue cycle (June 2019 – June 2020).

We’ve love for you to join the final challenge of 2019 and share what you’ve created based on our sketch.  Click here to visit the Just Add Ink blog where you can add your project to the gallery and see the other design team creations.

Thank you for all the comments, visits and love for my Just Add Ink design team cards in 2019.  When I cut back on my blogging commitments, Just Add Ink was one of the few regular commitments I kept.  I love the variety and quality of the challenges and I look forward to more opportunities in 2020 to create pretty cards and share them with you.

Paper Adventures Team Hop | “S”

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header
Hello September!  Which also marks the start of SPRING here in Australia.  The weather is warming up, the days are longer and I couldn’t be happier about that fact.  It’s felt like a very long & cold winter!!!
You’re joining us tonight for the September installment of our Paper Adventures team blog hop.  In honor of SSSSSeptember and SSSSSPring, the theme is “S”.  I can’t wait for you to see what everyone has made.  We welcome our guest designer Tina Gillespie.  Tina has the greatest sense of style and I love her quirky cards.  Click on the next button below to visit Tina’s blog.
I’ve created a Snow Dome Shaker Card to share with you.  I almost overlooked this bundle in the 2019 Holiday Catalogue because I don’t have a need for many snowy cards at Christmas time.  But then I got to thinking about all the cool snow globes my kids have collected over the years – fairies, animals, places – and it occurred to me that I didn’t need to make it snow at all.  Then Lou Kitzelman did a fabulous post with so many great ideas that I knew I’d made the right decision.  See Lou’s snow globe post by clicking here.
Everyone loves an interactive card, so this Snow Globe is for a big kid – using one of my favourite DSPs (Pressed Petals DSP).  This DSP is part of the buy 3, get 1 free promotion this month.  And even though, being a specialty DSP, it’s the most expensive on the list, you can choose it as your free pack – how awesome is that???  See all the B3G1 DSP options by clicking here.

The layout is CASEd from the catalogue (page 43) – I love how the banner fits so nicely with the snow globe.  All the snow globe pieces are from the Snow Globe Scenes Dies.  There is also a coordinating stamp set (Still Scenes stamp set) which has snow globe outlines and a stamped base.

The card is filled with shaker pieces – butterflies, stars & sequins.  The butterflies are from the Butterfly Beauty Dies, the stars from the retired Star Border Punch (I will never part with this!) and the sequins from a set in my collection (also retired no doubt!).

The Snow Globes are so easy to put together – like crazy easy!  Cut the pieces with the dies, add a Snow Globe Shaker Dome and construct your card. The domes have adhesive on both sides, meaning no glue mess – I love the simplicity with the wow factor.

The sentiment for this card is from the Wonderful Moments stamp set.

With the dies and domes doing all the hard work for you, snow globe cards are quick to make.  I was able to whip one up in 20 mins for a birthday party we went to last week.  It’s a perfect theme for any style, age or event!
