Social Stamping | April Kits – Bonanza Buddies

I’m starting to design the cards for my May card kits.  Thank you to everyone who purchased the supplies to turn the 5 kits into cards in April.

Be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss the May kits.  These can be posted Australia wide and include all materials except sentiment stamping and adhesive. Perfect for some stress-free crafting, design/layout inspiration or a little mojo kick-start.

Two of the cards in April’s kits used the Birthday Bonanza suite.  There’s always a surprise retirement for me in every catalogue, and this was it for 2020!  I’m going to miss these cute little critters!

I think this card style is called a Peekaboo Card since you can see through the front layer of the card to the back, but I’m not 100% sure. If you’ve heard a different name, please leave me a comment.

There was a Coastal Cabana version and a Daffodil Delight version.

The tag from the Bonanza Dies worked perfectly as the upright portion to hold the two front layers together.

The card kits were sent with pre-cut card bases & cardstock pieces, die cut embellishments, Birthday Bonanza DSP and ribbon.

Layout Love

On Monday I posted about our Paper Adventures team retreat – click here to see that post.  I loved all the cards I made (and had major card envy over the ones I didn’t!).  One of the cards that I was lucky enough to make (designed by Mandy Depiazzi of My Paper Trail) had a layout that I just loved.  I’ve been using it over the last month for so many cards.  It has a repeated sentiment, a tag and a fun element that you can interchange depending on the theme.

This is my version of Mandy’s card using the Bonanza Buddies stamp set & Birthday Bonanza DSP.

No photo description available.

And here’s 3 more variations I’ve made –

A soccer theme with For the Win stamp set

No photo description available.

A hippo theme for a special birthday request (hippo from an online colouring page site printed on Whisper White and coloured with Stampin’ Blends)

No photo description available.

And a dinosaur theme using Dino Days stamp set and Dinoroar DSP.

The tag for all the cards is from the Bonanza Dies.  Mandy used the Starburst Punch in her original card.  You can always count on some great purchase enabling at team retreat days, so guess which punch I added to my very next order?  I can’t believe I’d overlooked it in the Annual Catalogue!

Now is the time to have another look through the current catalogues – the Annual Catalogue & the Jan-June mini catalogue.  These both finish on 2nd June 2020 and once the retirement list is announced later this month, some items will sell out fast. Based on previous catalogues, items to sell out first are the retiring In Colors (especially ink refills).

It’s always best to get in early and make sure your favourites are in your craft room before stock becomes limited or unavailable!  If you’re shopping in Australia, you can place an order via my online store.  Click here to visit.

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Australia

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Happy 2020 and welcome to our first Paper Adventures Team hop of the year.  The theme is ‘Australia’ and I can’t wait for you to see what fun creations the team are sharing tonight.

We’re joined by guest designer Jo Stubbings – thanks for hopping with us Jo!  Jo is a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from NSW who I met through the Just Add Ink design team.  I love her use of colour and know you will too!

There’s a few Aussie contributions in the current Stampin’ Up! range including the cute kangaroo & koala duo in the Animal Outing set, but I couldn’t go past the koala in the new Bonanza Buddies stamp set (Birthday Bonanza suite).  I used him for my Just Add Ink card last week and as hard as I tried to use something different for this hop, I kept going back.

Koalas are native to Australia and only found on the east coast of Australia – unless in captivity.  They eat only eucalyptus leaves and despite looking very cute, their claws are quite sharp and dangerous.  Most people are surprised by how heavy koalas are when they have a cuddle.

I inked the koala in Smoky Slate and stamped his eyes & nose in Memento Tuxedo Black.  The Bonanza Dies coordinate perfectly to cut him out.

The Bonanza Dies are actually one of my favourites from the Jan-June Mini Catty because they have so many options.  Not only can you cut out the animals in the stamp set, but there’s a stitched tag die (yeesss!  I’d buy the set just for this!) and some super cute bunting.

I’ve used the tag die together with a stitched rectangle cut out to create a shaker tag.  Cut the top piece with the rectangle to create a window and cover the window with Window Sheet.  Using Foam Adhesive Strips, adhere to a tag base.  Make sure to pop some super cute shaker pieces in the middle.  I’ve used From My Heart Faceted Gems, gold sequins and Night of Navy stars I made using the retired Stars Border Punch.

I picked DSP for this card in a red & blue theme, picking up the essence of the Australian flag. I love DSP and always make sure I have all the patterns.  The easier way to do this is with a DSP sampler which I release each catalogue.  This card features blue stripe & red watercolour patterns from the Peaceful Poppies DSP (Jan – June mini) and dark blue watercolour from the Lily Impressions DSP (Sale-A-Bration).

The final touches for this card were the Australian flag (printed from my computer and attached to a toothpick) and the ‘welcome’ sentiment from Animal Outing.  I thought this would make a great card for someone who is spending their first Australia Day (coming up on Sunday 26th Jan) in Australia.

The layout for this card was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch which popped up on my Facebook feed earlier in the week.  I love sketches – they are a great starting point to get creative.  Click here to visit the Mojo Monday post.

For a bigger dose of Aussie fun, keep hopping and see what the rest of the team have made including our guest designer, Jo Stubbings, who is next on the list.

Wishing you all a wonderful Australia Day!  For those in Australia, enjoy having Monday off too!  May there be lots of crafty hours in the mix!!!
