CASEing the Catty #227 | Retiring Bundles

The last chance / retirement list is up on us and the CASEing the Catty Crew are taking the chance to use retiring items for inspiration before they disappear.

This week it’s a favourite retiring bundle – stamps & dies, or stamps & punches.

I’ve chosen the Bloom by Bloom bundle – stamp set and coordinating punches.  These products are part of the Happiness Blooms suite.  It wasn’t an immediate favourite, but the bright & fun colours of this suite have grown on me and I’m going to miss them!

Each suite in the catalogue has a full page spread and I’ve taken inspiration from the card at the top of the image below (page 24 of the Occasions catalogue).

I love the colours in this DSP and the use of the stamps in the floral centrepiece, so with this as my inspiration, I’ve used these features in a triangular fun fold card.  Click here to view the tutorial for this fold by Jackie Bolhuis.

This is what the card looks like when fully folded….

The card is incredibly simple to make!

Cut a piece of A4 cardstock down to 11-1/2″ and then score the middle along the long and short sides (4-1/8″ across the short side and 5-3/4″ across the long side).

Cut the cardstock in your trimmer from the top left corner to the bottom right corner (diagonally).  One piece of A4 cardstock gives you two cards.

Fold the flaps down & inwards to create a card front and then embellish.

I’ve used a Sahara Sand Stitched Circle overlayed with a Vellum stitched circle and the decorated with flowers from the Bloom by Bloom stamp set.

Some of the larger images in this set are fussy cut, but the smaller flowers can be cut using the punches.  There’s even the cutest little leaf in one of the four punches.

Although I’m excited about new DSP,  I’ve stocked up on an extra pack of the Happiness Blooms DSP so I can make cards like this when I feel like a bright and cheery option.

All of the bundles in the current catalogues are retiring.  Products that are ‘bundled’ together attract a 10% discount.  Some of these retiring bundles may appear in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue – but no longer in a bundle and therefore without a discount.

Some of the projects you’ll see on the hop tonight show you products that will still be available in the next catalogue – but as single items.  Some projects feature items that are going into the retirement zone, never to be available again.  Whether you’re shopping for a discount or doing some last chance shopping, make sure to get what you need before it’s too late. Links for this project in the table below.

Next up on the blog hop is Peta Stephen with her last chance project.

We’d love for you to share your project with us.  Join the CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook group and show us your project inspired by a retiring bundle.  You can see all the retiring bundles in the online store – click here to visit.

Thanks for hopping with us – I hope you have a fabulous week!

CASEing the Catty #217 | Happiness Blooms

Hello!  I hope you’ve had a glorious weekend!  We’ve been in celebration mode this weekend – a continuation of Miss Papercraft’s birthday, attending a friend’s 40th and using the last of our Christmas gift vouchers (we went ten pin bowling – sadly I lost to Mr Papercraft!!).  I also snuck in a visit to see friends at a craft retreat.

Tonight’s the CASEing the Catty Crew are sharing projects inspired by the Happiness Blooms suite and subsequent pages of the Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue.

We all know I’m slow on the uptake of trends, so it’s not a huge confession that I did ‘t love the Happiness Blooms suite when I first saw it.  But as I’ve seen more & more samples and added the DSP to my collection, I’m happy to admit that it’s grown on me immensely.

So, rather than avoiding this section of the catalogue, I’ve happily used it as inspiration for one of my Paper Adventures team members birthday gifts.

Using the design features of the box on the bottom left, I’ve created a decorated notebook and coordinating card.

I love how light and bright the featured DSP on this design.  I used a Stitched Rectangle in the place of the tag and added a personalised “G” for her notebook (pictured on the left above).  The ribbon double layered – the Flirty Flamingo from All My Love combo pack and the Grapefruit Grove from the Sale-A-Bration organdy ribbon pack.  As the organdy selection from Sale-A-Bration was so popular, it’s no longer available as a redemption choice!!

The “G” is cut from Grapefruit Grove Foil Sheet – another amazing SAB choice.  I just love the colour variation the light reflection throws onto it.  It’s available until 31st March or supplies last.  This product is so lovely, I think there’s a chance this one will disappear early too!

The elements of the card are very similar – the theme was so lovely I just kept going with it!  Same rectangle, same ribbon choices (this time in a bow) and the same DSP – but turning the striped piece into a featured banner.

The sentiment for this card is from the Well Said stamp set – one I’m fast finding is a craft room staple I keep turning to.

Thank you for joining us today for the CASEing the Catty hop.  We love sharing how the beautiful pages of the catalogue have inspired the projects we’ve made.  To see more, please keep hopping to visit Julia Quinn’s super cute Easter treats.
