Bye-bye Blendabilities

image

It is with mixed emotions that I pass on the news that due to quality issues, Stampin’  Up! has made the hard decision to discontinue their Blendabilities Alcohol Markers.  They will no longer be available to order through your demo or on the online store.

I’m sad that this style of markers will no longer be available as a Stampin’ Up! branded product.  I have gained quite a collection of these markers over the past few months and have enjoyed using them.  My love for colouring has definitely grown!

However, the over-powering sense of pride I have in Stampin’ Up! as a company makes me very happy  Their first and foremost focus is on customer satisafaction and within this is their dedication to quality.  Product quality is a big part of my love for Stampin’ Up!  You know you are going to get a product worth investing your money and time into it.

I have my fingers crossed for more alcohol markers within the SU! range at some point in the future.  In the meantime, I will continue to use other wonderful products within the range including Stampin’ Write Markers, blenders pens & aqua painters.  Because I own Blendablities, and you might too, you may occasionally see them in some of the projects I blog.  But, as always, my primary focus will be on current products that you can add to your collection.

If you are a Stampin’ Up! customer with concerns about Blendabilities you own, please contact the demo you purchased them from.  SU! has given us lots of options that enable us to provide excellent customer support to you.  Kelly x

Just Add Ink #252 Sketch Challenge – Happy Easter

This week at Just Add Ink its a sketch challenge.

image

I’ve been wanting to try this ‘on the angle’ look for a while, so thanks for the push JAI.

With Easter only a month away, I thought it was time to get started on inking up my Occasions Easter sets and using them to create a ‘Happy Easer’ creation. Isn’t the bunny cute? He was a little delicate to fussy cut, but worth the effort! Kelly x

Product Update: Blendabilities go back to the drawing board

I made this card during the week with the plan to share it with you as part of my learning to love Blendablities journey.  And also to make a card that showcased products from the Annual Catalogue.  I feel like I’ve been neglecting it since Occasions & SAB came ontothe scene.

image

However, since making it and now, Stampin’ Up! has temporarily stopped selling Blendabilities markers while they investigate manufacturing quality issues.

I’m looking forward to new & improved Blendabilities – I’ll keep you updated.  In the meantime, there’s always Stampin’ Write Markers, watercoloring, Aqua Painters, Blender Pens … It’s time to fall in love with some new techniques.  Kelly x

Thank you, thank you, thank you! JAI 251

This week’s Just Add Ink challenge was {perfect} for me!  I have lots to be thankful about at the moment, but the most blog relevant is …

Over 500 Pinterest followers!

Over 150 blog subscribers!

image

Wow – that’s a lot of people sharing in my papercraft journey! Thanks to each & every one of you.

image

This is my card for Just Add Ink 251.  I’ve used Irresistibly Yours DSP, coloured with Melon Mambo Blendabilities markers.  There are lots of ways to colour the ’emboss resist’ DSP – markers, sponging, painting, braying, spritzing.  The products on pages 210-212 of the catalogue will set you up with everything you need!

I’ve added vellum to the top and finished with the ‘thanks’ (minus the ‘s’) and ‘you’ from the Hello You thinlits.  And for good measure, and happy balance, added a bejeweled Petite Petals flower.

So, once again – thank you!  A blog isn’t worth writing unless someone is reading it.  And it makes me smile to know you are reading it.  Kelly x

Bow Builder Punch for all Occasions & Sale-A-Brations

I love punches!  I have most of the SU! range and use them in almost every card I make – one way or another.

One of the newest additions to the family is from the Occasions catalogue – the Bow Builder Punch, which has three pieces used to make bows (as well as other things).

bow builder punchThe ESAD blog hop had some great inspiration for using the Bow Builder Punch – have a look at Libby & Nerida‘s blogs for great bow ideas.  And be sure to visit Clare’s blog for some truly amazing punch art using the Bow Builder punch.

Here is what I’ve been ‘building’ using my punch and some catalogue favourites:

Floating to the Heights of a 2nd Birthday!

Good morning! Today’s card is … kids birthday card!  It’s been another action packed week of partying.

image

Celebrate Today has been a solid favourite of mine since appearing in the Occasions 2015 catalogue.  I’ve made quite a few balloon cards with it, but this is the first time I’ve added the basket to transform it into a hot air balloon.   By adding multiple balloons, I’ve made this hot air balloon 3D.  The background is from the Sweet Dreams DSP pack – what a cute design!  And the perfect background for my hot air balloon to float on.

Storage Style … the next installment … Blendabilities

image

I was a little late to jump on the Blendabilities train, but now that I’ve boarded, I’m loving my growing collection.  As the pile grows taller, I realised it was time to design some stylish storage for them.  Like the Stampin’ Write Markers, they are best stored flat, so the DVD style cases are once again a perfect fit.

The main collection fits perfectly into two wood mount cases (18 markers, 6 sets in each).  The skin tone assortment and color lifter store nicely in a clear mount case.  And because there are 4 new sets in the Occasions catalogue, I’ve created a wood mount case insert just for them!

Note: To fit 18 markers in each wood case, you’ll need to stand your markers up on the skinny side.

Once again, I’ve used MDS to create free printable inserts, ready for you to download.  Simply click on the links below to download the jpg files you need, or download the Microsoft Word file which contains the full set ready for printing, including a blank insert to customize the sets you have at home.  Kelly x

“Herd” You Were … Looking for some card ideas!

I’m still loving “From the Herd”.  It’s so fun much to colour the farm animals with Blendabilities & they make a great centrepiece for a light hearted (gender neutral) card.  I love the match with the Hardwood Background Stamp which is a constant favourite on my craft table.  It’s fabulous when the old & the new make such good friends.

These are two of my recent creations.  In this one I wanted the animals to be peeking out from behind a fence to mimic the ‘looking in on you’ sentiment.  It makes for a perfect get well card.

image

The second is for a work colleague who is leaving.  There isn’t a ‘good luck’ type sentiment in the set, which is  shame because the first thing I thought when I saw this stamp set in the catalogue was “woo hoo, a ‘from all of us’ sentiment that would be perfect for group cards”.  Not to worry – the computer came to the rescue and I was able to add in my own sentiments.  I love the “punny” of using ‘herd’ rather than ‘heard’.  I hope the person receiving the card gets it, otherwise they’ll think I’m a really bad speller! Here’s Looking at You – From the Herd

Have you seen “From the Herd?”.  It’s one of the new stamp sets available in the 2015 Occasions catalogue.  This 13 piece stamp set features the oh-so-cute farm animals all looking right at you – ready to wish you a variety of messages with 8 sentiment stamps including ‘happy birthday’, ‘from all of us’ (great for group or office cards), ‘it’s pasture birthday’ (when the card is a touch on the late side) & ‘just looking in on you … and hoping you’re feeling better soon’ (for those get well type cards).

from the herd stamp set

You don’t have to colour the animals, but they look great when coloured with the Blendabilities markers.  It’s been a fabulous chance for me to practice using these markers, which are surprisingly simple to get the hang of.  I particularly love that you get 3 colour tones of the same shade and they match Stampin’ Up! colours within the current range.  [And even better, there are 12 sets of these available for FREE as part of the Sale-A-Bration promotion].  Join the ‘party animals’ and have some fun yourself!  Kelly x
