Stamp Review Crew | Bike Ride

Happy Monday!  The kids are back at school today after a wonderful school holidays.  I have the pleasure of sharing my love of Stampin’ Up! this morning with a class of gorgeous ladies.  We’re making three cards – including one of the cards I’m sharing today.

Today’s hop is with my international Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends as we all share projects using the same stamp set.  The theme for this hop is Bike Ride, which has coordinating dies.  Both these items are on the retirement list – get yours while stocks last.

This is one of the sentiment free stamp sets that Stampin’ Up! released.  It’s designed to be paired with sentiments from other sets.  Because of this, the artwork is full of fabulous images that coordinate with the bike.  This was the inspiration for my trio of cards – using the flowers, books & dog and not the bike to create fun birthday cards using repetitive stamping.

The layout is the one I shared for the Paper Adventures team blog hop this month (click here to see my ‘Inspired by Fashion’ card).  I love how easy it is to create interesting cards using the Stitched Rectangle Framelits.  Thankfully they are NOT on the retirement list.

Each card has the image stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock in Memento ink, colour added and then cut using the Stitched Rectangle Framelit (3rd down from the biggest).

The floral card has been coloured using the stamps in the set – there’s a stamp to colour the leaves and also one for the flowers.  Makes it super quick to colour the images.

Colours: Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo & Granny Apple Green ink

Finished with a Daffodil Delight frame and Flirty Flamingo sentiment.

The next card uses the book image.  This is my favourite accessory stamp from the set!

Colours: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather & Smoky Slate

Finished with a Smoky Slate frame & Highland Heather sentiment

The third card from the trio uses the cute little doggie.  Isn’t he just the sweetest!

Colours: Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends – I coloured this one by hand rather than the stamp in the set because I wanted a checkered scarf for him.

Finished with a Real Red frame & Basic Black sentiment.

After making these cards, I couldn’t resist making a card using the actual bike from the set.  For some reason I find it hard to see this bike in any other colour than Mint Macaron! (I think because this style of bike is so trendy at the moment!).

So, using the same layout, here’s my Mint Macaron bike…

I never knew the die set had that cute little banner!  What have you discovered about a favourite stamp or die set just before it retires???

Speaking of retiring, I’ve snuck a little Lost Lagoon into this card – because I love it and even though something retires, doesn’t mean it loses its value.  Stampin’ Up! has an eternal lifespan as long as it holds a special place in your heart.  Some sets are worth keeping.  So, one more question – what retired colour, stamp die or other Stampin’ Up! favourite have you been unable to part with?

Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear your favourites and then jump on your bike over to Charlet Mallett for her amazing project.

CASEing the Catty #183 | Animal Expedition

Hello Sunday!  I hope your weekend was amazing!  We had a fantastic mix of sport, family time, crafting and a day out!  Now it’s time to get ready for the week ahead!

This week’s CASEing the Catty challenge is the Animal Expedition pages & beyond (pages 26-37).

No automatic alt text available.

As always, use the photos in the catalogue to inspire a project you make.  It might be the layout, theme, colours or design that catches your eye.

Share it on our Facebook page to be in the running to win our weekly challenge.  Click here to visit the CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook page.

My inspiration for today’s project came from the card on the right in the photo below (page 28 of the catalogue).  I could have easily just recreated the card in its entirety – that’s how much I loved it!

But instead, I did a complete switch up.  I swapped the colour scheme so that pink (Lovely Lipstick & Melon Mambo) was the base with a Mint Macaron accent, and swapped the position of the sentiment & the bike.

The Happy Birthday and pretty girl on the bike can be found in a new stamp set called One For All.

I always love a big & fun birthday greeting – so this stamp set was a definitely on my wishlist.

Thanks for joining us!

Next up on the CTC hop is the super stylish Megan Lenske.

Creating Kindness Blog Hop | Guest Designer

Image may contain: 1 person, text

Hello – I’m tickled pink to be hopping with the Creating Kindness Design Team this month.

The theme for this hop is ‘Colour Inspiration’.  I can’t wait for you to see what inspires all these wonderful crafters.

For me, it’s all about pink in this house.  It’s a 3-1 ratio (4-1 if we’re counting the dog!), with Mr Papercraft being seriously outnumbered.

And girl power around here means pink!

A couple of years ago we transformed one of our bedrooms into a pink paradise and bought new bed linen for the girls.

Bedroom Makeover | kelly kent

{I think they like it!}

I had such fun searching for designs that matched the vision in my mind for pretty & pink.  Given the intensity of the walls, I wanted lots of white in there too.

After a long search (and a little luck), I found two gorgeous designs – and it’s one of these beautiful patterns that have inspired my colours & card designs for today.

This is the reverse side which started the colour journey…

Bedroom Transformation | kelly kent

From this, I took the three gorgeous bright colours – and these are my inspiration colours for my project…

And this is the front side – which formed the concept & design part of my card…

Bedroom Transformation | kelly kent

Although I love the silhouette effect of the gray amongst all the colour, I wanted to bring this design to life.

So, in full colour, this is my card…

Creating Kindness - Colour Inspiration | kelly kent

When I’ve made this style of card previously (which I love!), I’ve called it a flip-flop card.  I’m not sure if that’s still what crafters are calling it!

Creating Kindness - Colour Inspiration | kelly kent

It’s a great design that folds out and you write in the middle panel.

Creating Kindness - Colour Inspiration | kelly kent

The bottom layer is my favourite of this card – handmade DSP using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and modelled on the reverse of the quilt cover.

Look at all those fun shapes!

My other favourite part is the bike on the front from the Sheltering Tree stamp set.

I just love how it all comes together and the inspiration from the front of the quilt for the heart balloon posy….

Creating Kindness - Colour Inspiration | kelly kent

All up this was such a fun card to make – and all because of the bright and vibrant colours.

Just Add Ink #377 Colour Challenge

Hello & welcome to another Just Add Ink Challenge.

#377 is a colour combination chosen for us by Rochelle.

My design team friends are loving Lemon Lime Twist & Pool Party this week!  Today it’s paired with Dapper Denim.

Image may contain: text

I love these three colours, but together they were a wee challenge – but that’s what it’s all about, right?

I decided to stick with simple – lots of white space to balance those colours!

Just Add Ink #377 Colour Challenge | kelly kent

It’s easy to get overwhelmed with 2 new catalogues in the space of 4 months, so it’s sometimes refreshing and stabilising to go back to old favourites.

Many of the products I’ve used in this card are carryover favourites from the previous Annual Catalogue.

Sheltering Tree stamp set, Classic Label Punch, Sunshine Sayings stamp set and the new for 2017 embossing folder – Garden Trellis.

I also realised when I was writing this post up, that despite making this card & my Colour INKspiration card at different times of the week, they have quite similar features!  I definitely have a style!!!

I am forever hopeful that it’s a love of this style that keeps you visiting & subscribing!

One of my go-to techniques for using embossing folders is to emboss the whole card – not just the front.

Just Add Ink #377 Colour Challenge | kelly kent

This means you need to add an extra piece of cardstock on the inside for writing on, but I love the luxurious feel of both the extra embossing and the matted inside.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my same-same-but-different Lemon Lime Twist & Pool Party card today.

For more beautiful cards using these three colours, pop over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the design team cards.

While you are there, you may also want to join the challenge by uploading your own Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party & Dapper Denim creation.

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to visit me!

Colour INKspiration #17

Are you ready for another colour combination?

After some very dark and moody options over the past few challenges, today’s offering is bright and fun and promises that summer is just around the corner!

Image may contain: indoor

Stay on board for a fabulous blog hop with the Colour INKspiraiton team.  I am nestled between two amazing designers.  You may have already visited my beautiful friend Lou Kitzelman (if not make sure you get all the way back to her blog to complete the full circle).  Next up is the gorgeous Denita Wright-Smee – click on the next button below to visit her blog!

For all the challenge action, join us over on Facebook at the Colour INKspiration Challenges group.

There’s lots of Lemon Lime Twist in the gorgeous inspiration photo, but I wanted to make Pool Party the focus of my card.

I just love the colours & patterns from the Petal Garden DSP stack – of which, Pool Party is one of the coordinating colours.

I added some interest to the background DSP panel by cutting the DSP into three strips.

Colour INKspiration #17 Bike Ride | kelly kent

The other colours in the challenge quartet became part of my bicycle & sentiment elements.

I love pink & blue together!  The Lemon Lime Twist books added another pop of colour!

Colour INKspiration #17 Bike Ride | kelly kent

I am totally loving the Bike Ride stamp set & coordinating Build A Bike Framelits.   They’d been on my maybe list for a while, and I got them recently thinking some of the additional stamps would make great teacher cards.

For some strange reason, I thought the bike would be really fussy to put together – but it’s so easy (totally a piece of cake with the framelits!).

So, as it turns out, I’ve used this stamp set non-stop since it arrived and love it!

Isn’t it funny how things translate from the catalogue to craft room favourites – sometimes in the most unexpected ways!

On the flip side, I’m sure we’ve all got stamp sets that we just ‘had to have’ and have barely touched inked since they arrived!!!

To see what’s getting inky on Denita’s craft table, visit her blog for your next bright & fun Colour INKspiration project…

And don’t forget, you can join us on Facebook to play along with this challenge, or any Colour INKspiration palette that catches your eye!

Bikes, Banners, FMS185 and a new weekly challenge!

I’ve shared lots of convention cards with you lately, so today I’m excited to share a *NEW* card made with products you can order now!  No need to wait for the new catalogue to start!

Today’s card uses two challenges.  One of my regular go-to’s: the sketch supplied by the lovely design team at Freshly Made Sketches:

And a brand new weekly challenge just for South Pacific Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators (ESAD).

The first ESAD Demo Design challenge has been set by Donna Chapman and is to create a card suitable for a male with the theme of travel.

So, with the sketch as my starting point, I’ve made this gender neutral card featuring the awesome bike from Sheltering Tree.  I love it when a stamp set offers more than just what it promises.

It features one of my all-time favorite colour combinations of black, grey, white & yellow, which works well for males (or females).

This card has a mix of retiring, not be be continued (Occasions 2015) and carryover products.

If you think you’ll miss any of the products on the retirement list or in the Occasions catalogue, then you’ll want to order them now!  Online shopping makes it super easy – shop from wherever you are & get it delivered to your door (the hostess code if you’d like to use it is: 2DDVDWRQ).

Thanks for all your support of my papercraft journey!  I’m certainly feeling the love!  Kelly x
