Winter Wedding Wishes

Here in Australia, not many people have weddings in June.

Why not?  Because it’s winter and the weather is much nicer October to March, which is when you are most likely to attend a wedding.

On saying that, planning a February wedding isn’t exactly a walk in the weather park either!

We got married on 13th Feb 2009.  The week leading up to the wedding was 40 degrees (104 Fahrenheit for those of you needing the other scale) on 4 consecutive days.

We’d chosen black suits with black shirts for the guys and heavy red dresses for the girls (crazy I know but I had a vague Valentine’s theme!).  And of course I had layers upon layers of wedding dress!

In a stroke of wedding luck, the weather dipped down to a pleasant 29 degrees and was gorgeous.

You can control lots about the wedding but not weather! I’ve been to weddings where it’s rained, weddings where it’s been cold & weddings where I’ve been blown away.

One thing you can control is a sensational wedding card!!!

This card was a custom request from a friend who went to a winter wedding last weekend.

One of my personalised creations with a design that was inspired by the invite.

The invite had a black & white theme with cute fairy light bunting.

The bride’s new initials will match her husbands so my friend asked that this was a feature of the card.

Would you find it funny or frustrating if your initials were the same?  I ended up with alliterated initials by changing my name – I like it!

This theme was super easy to carry over to the inside of the card with the new Pick a Pattern black & white Washi Tape!

This is one of my all-time favourite wedding sentiments.  You’ll find it in the Better Together stamp set.

CASEing the Catty #128 Favourite Kit

Hello Sunday!  Do I say that every week?

CASEing the Catty is one of my favourite challenges to be involved with – the catalogue is a treasure trove of amazing samples and creavity!

I feel like it brings out the best in my creativity and this week is no exception.

I just love the cards I created for challenge #128 – CASEing our favourite kit.

We know that picking favourites is a tricky one for me… but when it comes to kits, it was an easy flick to the Watercolor Wishes all-inclusive kit.

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit

This kit started a real love affair for me with kits, although with a stamp set, block, ink spot and all the materials you need to make 20 cards, what’s not to love?

These all-inclusive kits are perfect for every crafter.  For the ‘just getting started crafter’, they provide everything you need to be able to make beautiful cards.  For the novice crafter, they take all the hard work out of design.  And for the experienced crafter, they are a box of ‘easy’ – perfect to pack up & take on holidays, to kids sport or a good go-to when you just want to create!

For my CASEing the Catty projects, I wanted to highlight the great layout & designs of kit cards.

They are designed to be simple and appealing – lovely to look at but not too complex to put together.

Based on the designs in the photo, I used other items in my craft stash to make similar lovely but easy cards.

The sentiments are all from the Better Together stamp set (which lots of my team are getting this month thanks to a great promotion offered to Sale-A-Bration recruits!) and each card features the Falling in Love DSP.

I also used pearls as a feature through the card set.

Using catalogue pictures to inspired card layouts is a great way to get a project started!

And here’s the full set together…

I didn’t make these cards to be a set, just to show variety, but given the coordinating features they would actually make a lovely gift set.

I hope I’ve been able to remind you today that you don’t actually need lots of supplies to make great cards!

Stick to the basics of paper, stamps & ink and you can’t go wrong!

Next place to visit on the hop is the gorgeous Judy May, with equally as gorgeous creations!

We’d love for you to join us on Facebook and share your creations.  You’ve got all week, and all weekend to create, with entries open until Sunday evening 7pm (AEST).

Thanks for sharing in the fun!

Better Together Wedding Wishes

I’m at a wedding today – the beautiful union between one of my best friends from uni & her suave (now) husband.

This is the card I made for them, using some of my favourite supplies.

Many of the products I used for this creation are at the top end of pricing – but don’t let that deter you.  They are great, solid investments that you won’t regret.

The first is the Large Letters framelits and Letters for You stamp set.

Letter sets are amongst my favourite purchases – it adds so many options for personalisation.

For me, one of the greatest pleasures of card making is being able to create something you can’t easily buy in the retail market.

The best value purchase for this set is using the 50% discount you earn when hosting a workshop with sales of $750 or more.

Any crafter can be a host – ask me how!

The next great investment is the Better Together stamp set.

It’s {FILLED} with really useful sentiments in great layouts and fonts.  You’ll be able to use them on all your cards & projects.

I added the sentiment to the outside of a custom made envelope – just for a different touch!

The final ‘must-have’ is the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits – so elegant and such a lovely feature piece.

It looks stunning in gold glimmer paper!!!

Lots of wedding wishes for the happy couple.  Now, it’s time to party!!!
