Stamp Review Crew | Beauty Abounds

Hello to the new week!  I know it’s going to be a good one when it starts with a Stamp Review Crew hop!  It’s always a pleasure to join my international demonstrator friends and share projects with you inspired by the same stamp set.  See the full line up of demonstrators on the Stamp Review Crew blog by clicking here.

This week we’re showcasing the Beauty Abounds stamp set and coordinating dies.  I actually didn’t buy this stamp set originally – just the dies.  But then I had stamp envy after seeing so many gorgeous samples and just had to have it!!!

While shopping at Smiggle with the girls last week (a cutesy stationary shop that’s very popular with my kids), I picked out some little lip balms to put in our present box.  We like giving gifts, so I’ve always got a selection of sweet little things for the girls to give their friends.  Smiggle always has something great to add!

Smiggle Unicorn Lip Balm

Although cute on their own, I thought they’d be even cuter if I added some Stampin’ Up! love to them.

In the past I’ve put the lip balm together with a butterfly.  This project steps it up one more notch and I’ve added this element to a post-it note holder with a pen.

You can find the instructions for the post it note holders by clicking here.  Thanks to Kristina Rees for a great tutorial.

The pack included several different colours of lip balms, so I made a few up, ready to have to hand when we need a present.

This version is Highland Heather & Gorgeous Grape with some little butterflies.

And Pool Party with Bermuda Bay.  While making this one, it occured to me that this stamp set would be fabulous to make your own DSP.  I hope someone has done that in the hop!

I attached the lip balm to the post it note holder with mini magnets so it could still be used.

This stamp set is gorgeous and there’s so many ways to use it!  I love that it looks great in any colour and with those dots, isn’t limited to one theme or occasion.

Keep hopping and visit Jay Soriano to see the amazing project he has shared using this stamp set.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great week!

6″ Mini Album | Share What You Love DSP

Last week a very special friend of mine turned 40 and hosted a fabulous party. I wanted to make a bespoke keepsake that could double as gift and a place to keep her party memories.

This made it the perfect opportunity to make my first mini-album.  I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time and I’m so glad I finally got there!!!  My love of mini albums started when Jacqui Crouch made one for my 5th stampaversary blog hop – and then posted it to me as a gift.  It still has pride of place on my shelf and I love it!

Between a combination of studying Jacqui’s album design, watching you tube tutorials and winging it, this was my final result…

Share What You Love 6" Mini Album | kelly kent

The album cover is 6″ and the pages are approx 5-3/4″.  The whole album is constructed from scratch using the firm cardboard packaged with glimmer paper.  I found this you tube tutorial particularly helpful.

The album contains 12 pages decorated with Share What You Love DSP,.  There’s a mix of fixed photo spaces, cascading photo spaces and photo pages that side out from a belly band.

Of course every amazing gift needs a coordinating card.

Pull Out Side Pocket Card | kelly kent

I used the same style of card as I shared with you during the week – it’s call a Pull Out Side Pocket Card.  You can find the previous post with instructions and links by clicking here.

Pull Out Side Pocket Card | kelly kent

Large Numbers Framelits and Milestone Moments that I used for the album & card are now retired – but they are staple parts of my crafting stash and it’ll take a good replacement option before I part with them!

Stampin’ Up! currently only sell packs of 12″ cardstock in Whisper White and Very Vanilla.  The Kraft cardstock I used for the album & card is an alternative brand.

I’m already planning my next album – the question is… which DSP???  What current or retired DSP do you think would make an amazing album design?

February – why are you leaving us so quick???

I know February is the shortest month of the year, but this one just zipped by me!  Things at Papercraft HQ went into serious overdrive – three kids to keep alive, three houses to look after, a birthday, some anniversaries, the start of school, resuming card making classes for the year and so much more meant every day was a whirlwind of activity!

With all that happening, it’s only in the final moment of February I’m marking some things off my to-do list – like posting birthday cards for friends!  They will arrive in March, but I posted them in February – so it still counts!!!

I’ve always appreciated having a birthday month, so hopefully the recipients will too!

I made these cards using some Occasions Catalogue favourites and also a new DSP available as a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration reward.  See the second release catalogue by clicking here.  The Painted Seasons DSP comes in a bundle with a floral stamp set – available to redeem when your order reaches $180.

I like to make multiples of cards with subtle differences.  Easy changes – like a different size butterfly in this case – give you a different card for minimal design effort.  Other easy changes are – changing the orientation or using different colours or DSP.

The second card used the same die set, but the large butterfly as the centrepiece.

Both cards have the same bokeh dots in Poppy Parade, Grapefruit Grove & Blushing Bride (to coordinate with the DSP) on a Rectangle Label (of course!), a Stitched Label die cut and a heat embossed sentiment.  The sentiment is cut down from the ‘FRIENDSHIP’ stamp in the Beauty Abounds set.  I always love it if I can get multiple uses from the words in a set.

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

And those dots – I’m still in love!  I originally bought the Beauty Abounds stamp set just for the dots.  And I have no regrets!

Beauty Abounds | kelly kent

The stamp set also has a lovely flourish that I thought would look nice on the inside of the card.  Seems to be the month for extra decorating!  I love colouring with my Stampin’ Blends – they are so smooth and luxurious!

Here’s hoping that March is a little slower in pace but just as full of love, happiness and fun!

Just Add Ink #445 | Embossing

Hello!  You’re going to love the Just Add Ink challenge this week – we’re adding embossing!

Image may contain: text

Make a project with any kind of embossing you like – heat, paste, folders….  There’s so much potential!  Go nuts and add all the embossing if you like!

I decided this challenge was the time to dust off my neglected embossing mat and use them with the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits to create a pretty background effect.

Just Add Embossing JAI#445 | kelly kent

If you haven’t used an embossing mat before, it’s an extra set of layering plates & mats for your Big Shot that transform cutting dies into embossing dies.  They don’t cut through – they just leave the imprint on your cardstock.  Magic!  Especially when you add a spritz of Shimmer Paint (which of course you can’t see in the photo – but it’s there and it looks fab!).

Just Add Embossing JAI#445 | kelly kent

I’ve layered butterflies from the same Thinlits set on top and cropped down one of the bigger sentiments to just include ‘friend’.  Of course, the sentiment is heat embossing in white – that’s my favourite use of embossing!

Just Add Embossing JAI#445 | kelly kent

The DSP is from the Floral Romance suite.  This sheet is a vellum finish and just gorgeous!  The colours and pattern are so beautiful.  I love Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive together.

Thanks for stopping by today.  To see all the design team projects and add your card to our embossing themed challenge, visit the Just Add Ink blog.

Paper Adventures Team Hop | February Sketch

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  So glad you could join us tonight for our Paper Adventures team hop.

This month we’re welcoming Zoe Tant from the UK as our guest designer.  I’m so excited to have her share a project as part of the team hop – I just love her work!

We’re all creating tonight using this sketch.

Image may contain: text

The inspiration for sketch is the card at the top of the front cover of the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions catalogue.  The team don’t know that though, so I can’t wait to see what they all came up with!

I used the sketch to create a 40th wedding anniversary card for Nanna & Grandad Papercraft who celebrate this amazing milestone on the weekend!!!

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

This card is another combination of current and retired favourites.  The sentiment is from the retired Milestone Moments stamp set.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

Fresh from my new acquisition – Beauty Abounds – is those gorgeous bokeh dots!  I stamped first and then ran the whole card through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

The glimmer hearts are cut using Silver & Red Glimmer paper (red is sadly retired) & the heart from the Support Ribbon Framelits.  The frame is cut using the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits.

My card was styled on the matching gift – which was inspired by a print I saw on Pinterest.  It was one of those ‘I can make that’ moments – many thanks to the original designer.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

The red glimmer in the background can be changed out to suit the decor of the room, but given the significance of the ‘ruby’ anniversary I made the original a shimmery red creation.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary | kelly kent

Wishing my parents an amazing anniversary with a fabulous celebration of their married life this far and the years of fun to come!

There’s more projects to see if you keep clicking on the next.

From here you’re visiting the talented Siobhan Fitzsimmons

Thanks for hopping with us!
