Stamping Sunday | Beachy Little Christmas

It’s the fourth Sunday of the month, which is the special day I get to hop with my friends from Stamping Sunday.

You can find the whole line up for today’s theme by clicking on the little blue frog.

This blog hop brings you inspiration from all around the world – which is particularly relevant for this hop.

Given the different seasons that the Christmas period brings, we are either showcasing Beachy Little Christmas or Snowflake Sentiments.

Growing up in Australia, it’s most likely that our Christmas Day is going to be hot.  I’m not actually sure I’ve ever spent a Christmas Day at the beach – but this is a very popular pastime for lots and lots of bronzed Aussies.

So, when I saw the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set in the Holiday Catalogue, I knew it was going to be fun!!!

I love all the parts of this stamp set and used most of them between my two projects today.

The first card is inspired by the tree in the stamp set, but I decided to transform the tree base to a string tree.  Perhaps reminiscent of a tree made from old fishing nets???

I spent some time fussy cutting the beachy ornaments from the tree to add to my string tree…

I love the idea of a non-traditional tree with shells & starfish as decorations!

I couldn’t leave off the saying – it completes the theme, but I didn’t want to clutter the clean & simple design with a sentiment, so I popped it on the inside!

The second card uses the other sentiment in the set with another shell theme…

The shells are shimmery in the sunlight (which most of my photos are not for this post – I couldn’t get the lighting quite right!!!)

The inside is decorated for this card too!

The Merry Christmas comes from the Half Full stamp set – it’s my favourite ‘Merry Christmas’ stamp in the Holiday Catalogue.

Stamp Review Crew | Beautiful You

Hey there!  Thanks for joining us for this edition of the Stamp Review Crew.

You’re hopping with an international line-up of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators, all creating with the same stamp set.

Currently, you’re with Kelly Kent in Bunbury, Western Australia.

I’m nestled in between two lovely roses from the US – Linda Callahan before me and Heidi Baks after me.  Click on the ‘next’ button below to visit Heidi when you’re done with my projects.

Today’s stamp set is the very popular Beautiful You…

We first saw this at the Brisbane OnStage event in November 2016 and there was a very collective ‘ooooo’ around the auditorium.

Since it’s release, there have been some truly beautiful and very innovative cards made with this set.

You’re going to love the fresh eyes the Stamp Review Crew bring to it today!

I’ve decided to combine it with the newly released “Beachy Little Christmas” stamp set.

The beach shack stamp is just perfect for the dancing/cartwheeling lady.  She’s my favourite – so carefree & happy!

The first concept has been swirling around in my mind for over a week now and was such fun to bring to life!

It has a shaker portion within the card front, the lady dancing across the card and the shacks peeking through from the middle!

I’ve stamped one of my favourite sentiments from the set in Black Archival ink directly onto the Window Sheet.

This is the middle of the card – the shaker section is hidden by a third panel which I folded into the middle of the card.

How cute are those beach shacks all lined up?

Once this card was finished, it inspired me to make another card, with similar elements, but not the shaker section.

I’m actually tempted to say I like this one better… Isn’t it funny how things sometimes come together out of nowhere!

I stamped the lady first and then used the masking technique to block her out while I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the beach shacks.

The colouring was done using ink pads & an Aqua Painter – my preferred way of colouring.  So quick, easy & forgiving!

Beachy Little Christmas

In the same theme as yesterday’s post, I want to share another stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue that lends itself to a number of different occasions.

Today it’s all about Beachy Little Christmas…

This set was modelled on some of our iconic beachy images here in Australia.

In a catalogue full of snowflakes, it’s a great alternative option – perfect for our summery climate at this time of the year.

The stamp set comes with Christmas-like sentiments, so the first card I’m sharing is for Christmas.

I’ve used a colour theme that screams ‘beach’ to me – Sahara Sand, Pool Party & Whisper White.

The background is made using the faux woodgrain technique on glossy white cardstock, but in beachy colours – Soft Sky base and Pool Party & Bermuda Bay streaks – to emulate a water scene.

All those gorgeous pastels!!!  I love non-traditional Christmas card colours!

The second card uses the same colours, but this time I’ve left off the sentiment and used it as a birthday card.

The Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder is a great coordinating products for the beach shack stamp.

I’m always on the lookout for multiple options for the stamp sets I buy.  I want to know that I’m adding value and creativity to my stash.

I’m hopeful that many Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and customers will purchase the Beachy Little Christmas stamp set and support the efforts from the corporate design team for the Christmas range to be inclusive of all geographical areas.  Fingers crossed for a surfing Santa or 6 White Boomers stamp in a future design!!!
