CASEing the Catty #149 | Year of Cheer

And just like that, the school holidays are over!

Back to packed lunches, early starts and after school activities!!!

If you have kids, what kind of holiday parent are you?  Love the change up and find it hard to go back, or – at your limits and ready for someone else to entertain them for 7 hours of the day???

I’m a holiday loving mumma – but mostly for the sleep ins I think!!!

Staying up til 1am is a little easier when I know I don’t have to be up at 7am!

Because it’s Sunday, it’s time for another CASEing the Catty project.

Today, we’re CASEing the Year of Cheer section of the Holiday catalogue.

Choose any element of what you see from pages 36 – 47.

I’ve chosen to CASE the colours & styling of this super cute treat bag on page 45…

Although you probably don’t often think of black for baby cards, black and pink together make a cute modern twist on the traditional baby card colours!CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kentI’m pretty sure the original Stampin’ Up! project is Flirty Flamingo, but I softened it up a little by having Blushing Bride as the pink.

The DSP choice is the same, and I’ve kept the vellum heart {so much to love about the inspiration card!}.  The vellum is applied using a small amount of Fast Fuse.  It barely shows up through the vellum – perfect!  And even more perfect – buy a Fast Fuse during October and get 2 free refills!CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kentI’ve lost count of how many different types of cards I’ve used the Foil Snowflake on now.  They are definitely not just for Christmas!!

The ‘hello’ is from the Hello Friend stamp set – I’ve got a total crush on this stamp set at the moment!  To get the depth of colour I stamped it three times in Blushing Bride using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the placement.

The ‘baby’ is from Happy Celebrations (love that font!) in Basic Black Archival Ink.CTC #149 Hello Baby | kelly kent

And the final fun touches are Black Shimmer ribbon, Gold Mini Sequin Trim, Pearl Jewels and some Shimmery White Hearts.

I’m not sure where the hearts are from in the inspiration card, but cut mine using the Window Box Thinlit.  There’s two sizes in one of the square patterns – just beautiful for accents!

I just love how this card turned out – and although I haven’t forgotten, it reminds the wonderful inspiration contained within those catalogue pages.

Please join us with what inspires you this week from pages 36-47 of the Holiday Catalogue.  And share your creation with us on our Facebook group.

Thanks for hopping!

See what the rest of the design team has created, hopping from here to Angela Meiritz-Reid with another gorgeously pinkly baby card….

World Cardmaking Day 2017

No automatic alt text available.

I have been invited to hop with a totally amazing group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world to celebrate World Card Making Day – what an honour!

This is a hop you’ll want to run through from start to finish!!!

If you’re already hopping, then you will have just come from the delightful & talented Amy Koenders in the US.

Currently you’re visiting Kelly Kent in Bunbury, Australia.

And next up is our very own South Pacific Artisan Design Team Member – Paula Dobson from New Zealand.

Click on the next button at the end of this post to hop on over to Paula’s blog.

It was a totally free slate for this blog hop – which means we’re going to see some amazing projects.

I took this opportunity to think about what card making means to me – which has led me to share 3 different projects with you that each focus on what card making brings to my life.

The first project is about my team.  When I first joined Stampin’ Up! I could have never predicted that I would surround myself with strong, talented women with many things in common – but bonded by a love of paper, stamps & ink!

During the week, I sent out this card to each member of my team.

I wanted to reach out to them with personalised messages of thanks for their support and congratulations on their successes during the year.

These cards were made using my favourite elements of card making – beautiful DSP, white embossing, vellum, and a spray of flowers.

With one of my new favourite stamp sets – Hello Friend!  The floral wreath is simply stunning!

And how perfect is the sentiment from Labels to Love for cards that celebrate the end of the Stampin’ Up! year!!!  The Holiday Catalogue is not just about Christmas!

I also included a gift for everyone – a charm with their initial & a paper aeroplane (our Paper Adventures team motif).

End of Stampin' Up! Year Team Gifts | kelly kent

It could have many uses but I think it’d make a cute scissors charm or key chain decoration.

This is how I attached it to the middle of the card – with the Circle Tab Punch

The next project was made during a class and represents my customers.

I am fortunate to spend time every month with a group of ladies who all love card making.

Each class is full of laughter, stories and friendship – and is a highlight of my month!

This is an eclipse card we made last month using the Painted Harvest stamp set.

You’ll never guess the colours for the sunflowers…

Crushed Curry (that one was probably easy enough) and Peekaboo Peach (I have no idea what possessed me to pick that ink but it totally works!).

We stamped the fern in Sahara Sand and leaf in Old Olive at random points between the flowers.

This is another style of card that looks impressive but is oh-so-simple when you know how!

The final project for my post today reminds me of the both the friendships I’ve made because of this wonderful hobby and the power of sending a card.

I’ve sent cards around the world, across Australia and across my own town.

They’ve been sent for all kinds of reasons – because it doesn’t have to be someone’s birthday to send a card! #makeacardsendacard

A friend and I affectionately refer to handmade cards as ‘happy mail’ because there’s nothing nicer than checking the letterbox and finding something made & sent just for you!

This card travelled to the US last month to celebrate Holly Stene welcoming a beautiful baby girl into her famiy.

Born To Be Loved | kelly kent

I love all the texture in this card!!!

It also includes some of more of my favorites – Sweet Sugarplum, gorgeous ribbon & trim and lots of layers!

Who are we kidding – most of the Stampin’ Up! range counts among my favourites!!!

That is all from me today!  I hope your Saturday 7th October 2017 contains some stamping happiness – whether it is making a card, sending a card or spending time with crafty friends!

I hope you enjoyed scanning through the pretty pictures.  That’s my style of blog visiting, so bonus points if you read the text too!

Please keep hopping to see the marvellous projects from the rest of the designers on this hop.

Colour INKspiration #13

Hello! And welcome to Colour INKspiration #13!

Do you love or hate the number 13?  I’m a fan!!!!

The first challenge for July features a gorgeous quartet of bright & fun colours – Sweet Sugarplum, Wild Wasabi, Lemon Lime Twist & Fresh Fig.

Image may contain: plant, flower and nature

You may like to take inspiration from the photo as well, but you can go wherever these challenge colours take you.

Don’t forget that you can add in any neutrals or metallics to the palette too – which opens up some great variety.

I’ve added silver/gray to mine to create yet another creation using the “Little One” stamp set.  I just love that teepee!!!

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

This concept came from the idea of a cute baby blanket covered in teepees.  The colours from this challenge were perfect for a bright & fun look.

I double embossed the cardstock with the Ruffled folder (embossed once, rotated and then embossed again) after it was stamped & coloured, to give it a ‘blanket look’.

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

Watercoloring the teepees softened the colours to ‘baby tone’.

A bit of sequin & glitter dot bling finished the sentiment panel…

Colour INKspiration #13 | kelly kent

Do you like the ‘get your swaddle on’ sentiment?

I think it’s a bit of a divider – I’m still sitting on the fence.  Might be a ‘for the right Mum/baby’ type saying.

The hop showcasing these gorgeous colours continues on now to the wonderful Monique Fielder

You can join in too by uploading your creation using the challenge colours (and any neutrals and/or metallics) over on our Colour INKspiration Challenges Facebook page.

If you don’t have Facebook, email me your creation and I’ll share it for you!.

I hope you have a wonderful end to your week!

If you’re still on school holidays like me, I’m hoping for fine weather, lazy mornings and children who don’t whine!

I don’t ask for much, do I???

Teepee Love!

Do you remember the baby teepee card I made back in May when I was eagerly awaiting being able to order all the stamps on my new catalogue wishlist?

Here it is…

Now that I’ve added the oh-so-cute teepee stamp set – Little One – to my collection, I made the card again using the stamp set.

Little One - Teepee Love | kelly kent

I can’t decide which version I like better!!!  I just think teepees are the cutest baby motif!

I also made a Rich Razzleberry version in this design….

These cards were my swaps for our recent team meeting.

Want to be part of an amazing team of like-minded crafters?  You should join Stampin Up! and our Paper Adventures team!  Especially during July – the joining deal is AH-MAY-ZING!  Click here for more info.

{PS, if you are trying to place the cute Tranquil Tide washi tape, I stole it from my Soft Sayings kit!}

This stamp set is getting quite a work out – pop back in tomorrow to see another Little One creation for my Colour INKspiration design team card.

So many baby cards – but I just couldn’t resist!

CASEing the Catty #125 Occasions – Favourite Big Shot Project

Thanks for joining me for a CASEing the Catty Sunday blog hop.  The design team will share their projects for the week in this blog hop.

Then, we ask you to join us and share your creations.  You can find all the action on our Facebook page.

The theme this for CASEing the Catty #125 is Favourite Big Shot projects from the Occasions catalogue.

As always, a hard decision!  But I decided to create with the Dynamic Hexagon embossing folder – because I love it, which definitely makes it a favourite!

It’s currently part of the Urban Undergound suite in the Occasions catalogue and will appear again in the 2017-2019 Annual Catalogue!

I have cased the “Dad” card on the left, and transformed it into a baby card!

CASEing the Catty #125 Occasions Big Shot Projects | Kelly Kent mypapercraftjourney.com

This embossing folder has no limits of use and looks great on pretty much every card!

I can cause cracking on your cardstock.  To prevent this, spritz your card with water before putting it in the folder.  Sounds crazy – but it works!

I made the inside a little more ‘baby’ than industrial using the Moon Baby stamp set (also carrying over – yay!).

Did you know that all bundled pricing finishes at the end of each catalogue cycle – even if the products carry over to another catalogue. That means that you have just over a month to get a 10% discount on the Large Letters framelits & coordinating stamp set. They are definitely a huge investment – but well worth it! And 10% helps!!!
And, while they are bundled, it’s possible to include them in your starter kit!!
Join my Paper Adventures team for the Starter Kit price of $169 and include this bundle (item number: 142348) as your kit selection (remember: it’s fully customisable).  You’ll get free shipping too – saving you even more!

There’s so much choice for creating this week – please join us in using the catalogue as your inspiration for a Occasions catalogue Big Shot themed creation.

Add your creation to the CTC#125 album on our Facebook page.

Continue the hop by visiting the delightful Rebecca Scurr and seeing what she has made.

My bucket list of card making

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’ve been attempting to write a blog for a long time but for many reasons haven’t gotten to the point of being able to publish anything. My blog will be mostly a papercraft journey following cards and projects I make for family, friends and as a hobby. These will use Stampin’ Up! products – my favourite for their quality & coordination.

My first share with you was a first for me – framed art. I made this for a friend who had a baby boy this week. She’s a Stampin’ Up! fan too so I knew she’d love the trio of blues – Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay & Island Indigo.

I’m excited to share more, thanks for taking the time to read this 🙂
