Baby Card with a Twist

Our Paper Adventures team added a new member this month with one of our team members welcoming a beautiful baby into her family..  It’ll be a while before she’s stamping, but I’m excited that our junior division is growing!

#futurepaperadventurer

My Little Miss Papercrafts came shopping with me to pick out something for the new addition and made me giggle in the shop when they were analysing present options based on the potential for a coordinating card.

The final choice was a Bonds wondersuit with a fabulous neon tropical pattern.  They were right – this design made a fabulous card!!!

The card was made using Rooted in Nature as the base and Animal Outing for the finishing touches.

Who knew that Rooted in Nature would be the perfect stamp set for a baby card???  It fits perfectly with the theme this week for the Just Add Ink challenge – my curveball of a suggestion to “Add a Twist”.

You can see the design team creations over at the Just Add Ink blog – and add your own card with a twist.  The challenge is open until tomorrow evening.

One of the things I love the most about this baby card is the bright & fun colours.  Who said baby cards had to be pastel & cutesy?!?

It’s a big welcome to the new little one!  I have a feeling she’s going to carve her own path in life – with a uniqueness and boldness that this baby card promises!!!

Just Add Ink #416 | Sketch

Hey there!  Thanks for joining me for tonight’s Just Add Ink challenge.

This week we’re all creating to Patrice’s awesome sketch.

Image may contain: text

Sketches are one of my favourite challenge types because I love all the different directions it takes the design team.  I’m usually very literal in sketch interpretation (and this week is no different).  I get blown away by the creativity of the design team and how they use the sketch.

Of all my new catalogue items, I keep going back to the Animal Outing & Animal Friends bundle.  The characters are cute & quirky and they make for great universal cards.  My greatest Stampin’ Up! wish would be for a ‘happy birthday’ stamp in each set – but I have lots of choices for mixing & matching!!!

Animal Outing | kelly kent

The DSP in this card is also from the Animal Expedition suite.  It’s part of the buy 3, get 1 free promotion in July and I will be stocking up!!!  Read all the details here.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

I’ve been desperate to use the gorgeous giraffe print die since getting these framelits – how amazing does it look layered on a card!!  The framelits are very useful – they cut out all the animals in the set (which I remembered after I fussy cut the frog/tree!!) and have extra pieces like the giraffe pattern to add interesting features to your projects.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

The giraffe and frog have been quickly coloured using Stampin’ Blends.  I’m not a natural with colouring (and I don’t worry about being perfect). I love how easy Stampin’ Blends are to use.  I’ve got the 11 new colours on their way to me.  Looking forward to some more colour options – especially greens!!!  See more info here.

It would be great to have you join in with our sketch challenge.  You’ll find entry over on the Just Add Ink blog, along with the awesome design team cards for the week.

Happy stamping over the weekend – the forecast in my house is perfect for stamping in my pjs!!!

Enjoy the Little Things Video In Life Video Blog Hop | June – Guest Designer

Hello!  It’s an early blog post today as I have the great pleasure of joining the Enjoy the Little Things in Life Design Team for their June video blog hop.

I’ve been doing a few videos lately as part of my Stamp In Confidence program (read about that here), but it’s still not natural for me to be organised enough to craft and video at the same time!!!

But life is all about challenges and extending ourselves, so I was delighted to say yes to a guest designer role with the Enjoy the Little Things DT.

The theme for this hop is 3D.  The design team has come up with some lovely creations, complete with tutorial videos to help you make your own versions.

I’m so much of a card girl, and don’t often make boxes, bags or other 3D items.

So, for today’s project, I’m combining the two – a card that features an interactive 3D component.

Interactive Puzzle Card | kelly kent

One of the new bundles in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue is the Love You to PIeces stamp set and coordinating Puzzle Pieces Thinlits.  Such a fun way to create cards for big & little people!

I’ve created a double layer frame for the puzzle to sit in, so once the puzzle is together, it fits snugly onto the card front and looks like it’s part of the card.

But, the pieces can be taken out, mixed up and put back together just like a regular puzzle.

I’ve used the new embossing mat with the puzzle thinlit to create the background outline to guide the puzzle doer.

There’s so many pretty DSP patterns in the new catalogue that are perfect for this style of card.  This design is Petal Promenade – beautiful photography patterns of flowers on the main side & marble on the reverse.

Stamp Review Crew | Animal Outing

Hello!  It’s a wonderful Stamp Review Crew Hop today -my international Stampin’ Up! friends and I are sharing projects made using Animal Outing.  You’re going to love this hop!!!

This stamp set is part of a bundle with the Animal Friends Thinlits.  It’s also part of a suite with Animal Expedition DSP & other coordinating products.  See the range in the catalogue – page 27, or browse online.

I’m sharing two projects today made with the Animal Outing stamp set.

The first was a team class project where I wanted to share reverse image stamping with my team.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

The giraffe (and all the animals in in set) are perfect for this technique.  It adds extra dimension to the layout of a card – and means you can have animal friends looking at each other.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

There’s 4 giraffes in the circle – two facing left and two facing right (although one is upside down, so technically three of them are looking right!).  The ones facing right were stamped as normal.  The ones facing left were stamped onto a silicone mat and then transferred onto the cardstock.

Reverse Image Stamping | kelly kent

I’ve tried this technique before with Window Sheet – but you have to be so careful not to smudge the image as you transfer it.  Using the silicone sheet gives a much better image, but you can’t see through for placement – so it’s slightly trickier in that way.  I recommend doing the reverse image first, then lining up your other images.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

Although I love the sentiments in the stamp set, the animals go so well with lots of other sentiments. For my quartet of giraffes, I liked the ‘from all of us’ saying from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

For my second card, I wanted to stamp the rhino onto DSP to see the effect.  I love the Animal Expedition DSP (I’ve used that for the gray panel) but had a pink rhino in my head, so went looking through the new DSP – and fell in love with the Tropical Escape DSP Stack.  Oh my, the patterns in this are amazing!!!

Animal Outing | kelly kent

Add some embellishments and we have a cute & girly card.  I like the pink rhino – she’s fun!!!

Animal Outing | kelly kent

In both cards I’ve used Stampin’ Write Markers to add open eyes to the animals.  I still need some practice, but I like the effect of the animals looking out from the card.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

Thanks for joining us today for the Stamp Review Crew Animal Outing hop.

Next up is Linda Callahan and her super sweet project –

CASEing the Catty #175 | Occasions Big Shot

Hello Sunday!!!  I hope you had a lovely weekend.

Today I’m sharing a card I designed using the CASEing the Catty #175 theme – Favourite Occasions Big Shot Project.

Image may contain: text

There’s lots of Big Shot Projects to love in the Occasions catalogue!  I needed a layout to use with my new Animal Outing stamp set which I have been itching to get inky since we got it at OnStage.  You’ll be able to add it to your collection when the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue goes live in June #demoperks

The stamp set contains fun cartoon animal images including a rhino, frog, giraffe and a super cute kangaroo & koala combination.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

It’s rare we get Australian animals in stamp sets, so I just love the kangaroo image!!!

I’ve used the layout of the (left) picnic card on page 6 of the Occasions catalogue…

…as the base for my kangaroo creation!

Animal Outing | kelly kent

This fun stamp set comes with framelits (can’t wait for those!) and is going to be a huge hit in the new catalogue!!!

Animal Outing | kelly kent

Let’s have a look at that cute kanga one more time.  She’s easy to colour using your favourite colouring method.  I’ve used Watercolor Pencils & Aqua Painter for this card.

Animal Outing | kelly kent

I know you’re going to be seeing lots more of her!

To join my team & have early access to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue (plus a fabulous discount on all your new catalogue spending), click here.

To keep hopping (punny!), visit my lovely friend Fi Cobbin in Sunbury, Victoria (which rhymes with Bunbury and could be another source of a great pun!!!).

Join the challenge by CASEing a favourite Big Shot project from the 2018 Occasions catalogue and sharing it on our Facebook group.

You love seeing what you make!

Have a great week,
