Paper Adventures Team Hop | weather

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

As the weather chills down here in the south west of Australia, weather seemed like a great theme for the July 2020 Paper Adventures team hop.  I’m never more aware of the weather than when it’s cold.  I spend my time both enjoying the lashing of rain (I love a good storm) and wishing it away as I wait for warmer days.  My favourite season is definitely summer!

We welcome Leonie Stuart today as our guest designer.  I love Leonie’s elegant style and beautiful nature and was so happy she was able to join us for this hop.  If you’re a blog subscriber of Leonie’s and have joined us via her blog, thank you!

Weather is such an powerful topic.  We talk about it, we enjoy it, we hate and we often base our activities around the weather that Mother Nature has delivered.  There’s nothing better than having an excuse to stay inside and craft all day because the weather is awful outside!!!

With the cold weather making life a little chilly, I bought a gorgeous little heat pack buddy for a friend who is turning two this weekend.  I couldn’t resist making a card that matched the design….

I love using inspiration from around me to make cards!  Like all good punch art creations, this is a little bit of this and a little bit of that.  Lots of it is hand cut.  The In Good Taste DSP provided excellent texture for the bottom part of the card and the top is Sahara Sand with Tasteful Textile embossing.

My current favourite way to finish a card is to add the Playful Alphabet letter dies with foam adhesive sheet.  The effect is awesome!

This card just makes me smile!  The heat bag monster is such a happy little character – it’ll be great for cold night snuggles!

Stay warm and keep hopping with our guest designer Leonie Stuart.

Have a great weekend!  I hope the weather plays nice for whatever activity you have planned!

Not a Banana in Sight…

One of my greatest card making pleasures, still after all these years, is being able to make cards that match the present!

A cute little friend of ours had his birthday recently and his gift was the book Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas.  My kids love it!!  See it here on you tube!

Here’s Brian – the star of my card….

You’ll notice there’s not a banana in sight – because piranhas don’t eat bananas!  The inspiration for the DSP came from the bananas in the Tutti Frutti pack – but I’ve used the fun stripy reverse side inside… no bananas!

Apart from his eyes (1-1/4″ circle, 1′ circle, Cookie Cutter Builder punches), the artwork is all free hand cutting – nice & rustic for this cartoon character!

His teeth are the banner from In The Trees stamp set.  That’s the part I love about punch art – matching all the shapes to what I have in my Stampin’ Up! collection.

In The Trees is on the retirement list, plus the Large Number Framelits, Big on Birthdays stamp set, Tutti Frutti DSP  & Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper.  Make sure you get all your favourites before they are gone!
