CASEing the Catty #213 | Floral Romance

It’s a long weekend Sunday here thanks to Australia Day yesterday!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!!

There’s no better way to spend a long weekend than in the air con in the craft room for a few hours.  Then it’s time for a casual dinner at the beach. I do love the warm, balmy nights that summer offers!

The theme this week for CASEing the Catty is the Floral Romance suite and subsequent pages.

No photo description available.

I just love the styling of the Floral Romance suite – it’s pretty and feminine and totally gorgeous!  For my card this week, I took a little inspiration from all of the cards in the suite photo above.

I liked the layout of the bottom right, the DSP of the middle left, the leaves of the bottom left, the embellishment of the middle & bottom right, the addition of Rich Razzleberry from the gift box at the moment….

I pulled all those flashes of inspiration together to create this card for my new teamies that have joined during Sale-A-Bration.  They took advantage of the amazing Starter Kit special ($169 for $315 of products, free shipping & 20%+ discount!!).  If you’d like to be part of our Paper Adventures team, click here for more information about the Starter Kit.

Floral Romance | kelly kent

That floral vellum is my favourite – so delicate & pretty!!

The sentiment from this card is from the Stamping Your Way to the Top – an exclusive demonstrator only stamp set currently available to order.

Floral Romance | kelly kent

The scallop circle panel is from the Spot of Tea Framelits – I bought them a while a go and haven’t used them nearly as much as I would like.  It’s a nice change up to the stitched look which I so often favour.  I’ve layered it twice – Whisper White with Blushing Bride underneath – to match the DSP.

Floral Romance | kelly kent

I just can’t get enough of the embellishments from this suite.  The gold seals are divine!!!  And the little flowers are so sweet!  Do you use embellishments on your cards?  I buy many but so often forget to use them.  I’m trying to change this in 2019!

Please join us for this challenge over on Facebook.  This challenge covers the samples for Floral Romance, To Have & To Hold stamp set and Beauty Abounds Bundle.  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Awesome DSP for an Awesome Recipient

Favourite DSP | kelly kent

I made this card to go with a team incentive gift.  I purposely chose the beautiful butterfly paper from Needlepoint Nook as it’s one of my favourite pages from the 2019 Occasions catalogue.  I’ve been waiting for a special card to cut into it – and this was it!

Incredibly Proud | kelly kent

If you enjoy my projects enough to follow my blog (which I hope you do!!), you’ll have noticed how much I love the Stitched Rectangle Framelits.  They feature on just about every card I make at the moment.  Stitched edges are a great finishing touch for every card!!

Incredibly Proud | kelly kent

The sentiment for this card comes from the Incredible Like You stamp set (Occasions 2019 Catalogue).  It’s full of lovely positive sentiments with beautiful font – which makes it fabulous in my eyes!

Incredibly Proud | kelly kent

Did I mention how easy Stampin’ Up! DSP is to coordinate colours with???  Just pick out the key colours and you’ve got a perfectly coordinated card.

This card features Night of Navy, Blueberry Bushell, Whisper White and Very Vanilla (with Silver Baker’s twine for a bit of bling!).

Stamping Your Way to the Top Butterfly | kelly kent

I also decorated the inside of this card with a coordinating butterfly from the Butterfly Gala stamp set (and punch) and a super cute banner from Stamping You Way to the Top.  This stamp set is an exclusive demonstrator only stamp set currently available for demonstrators to order.  It’s filled with stamping related sayings.

I can’t wait to make more cards for my team using these two stamp sets – Incredible Like You & Stamping Your Way to the Top.  Being able to support and celebrate my team is a big part of the Stampin’ Up! journey for me!

If you’re curious about joining Stampin’ Up! or feel like our Paper Adventures Team would be a good fit for you, we’d love to have you!  Joining Stampin’ Up! gives you a 20% discount, access to catalogues and products before customers, opportunity to buy exclusive products and so much more!!!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Water

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Our Paper Adventures team is back in 2019 – bigger and better than ever!!!  We’re welcoming one of our new teamies – Lisa Whitehead – as part of this blog hop, and also our guest designer for January – Leonie Schroder.

The theme tonight is ‘water’.  I can’t wait to see what the team creates with this diverse theme – there are so many options!

I flip-flopped on ideas for this blog hop for ages!  Watercolouring?  Beach theme?  My favourite water beverage of choice – hot tea?

I ended up deciding to get one of my new stamp sets inky and use the water reflection technique.

Let It Ride | kelly kent

How beautiful are the horses from the Let It Ride stamp set?

It’s so rare for Stampin’ Up! to bring out a stamp set with horses, I knew this one needed to be part of my collection to keep forever.  With 2 Little Miss Papercrafts in the house, I’m sure we’ll be making cards for horse loving friends for years to come!

Let It Ride | kelly kent

For each card, I stamped the horse / tree image on Whisper White cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Without reinking, I stamped the image again onto a piece of Window Sheet (acetate) and pressed that ink side down to create a reflection.

Let It Ride | kelly kent

The images were colouring using Stampin’ Blends – Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party & Balmy Blue.  The two tones of each blend colour and the way they literally blend into each other made it easy to create a realistic ‘painting’.

Let It Ride | kelly kent

Once all the colouring was completed, I cut it out using a Stitched Rectangle Framelit and then mounted each one using a combination of Granite Gray & Sahara Sand cardstock – each with different embossing (Simple Stripes & Tin Tile).  A bit of linen thread & new Whisper White flax ribbon to finish.

Let It Ride | kelly kent

Everything you need to make a card like this can be found in my online.  Click here to browse or see the product list at the end of this post for individual products.

Thanks for joining us today for another blog hop.  The team enjoys being able to hop each month!  If you think being part of our Paper Adventures team would be the right fit for you (great team support, 20% discount on your favourite Stampin’ Up! products and a sensation deal on the Starter Kit til the end of March 2019), then please join us!  Click here for more info.

From here, it’s off to Facebook to visit Anne Barker and her water themed project.

See you for another team hop in February!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | All That Sparkles

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

It’s time for one last Paper Adventures team hop before 2018 leaves us.  What a wonderful year of creative projects!  Thank you to my fabulous team for participating every month and taking the time to share their creativity via their blog or Facebook page.  I really appreciate the effort!

We’re finishing with a super fun theme – “All That Sparkles”!  Although I have come across a few crafters who don’t enjoy glitter, lots of us bathe in the sparkle!!!

With a new catalogue just around the corner, I’ve chosen to share some the pretty products I’ve been collecting while pre-order has been available to demonstrators.

The 2019 Occasions Catalogue has lots of exciting new products, including lots of beautiful butterflies!  Choose from a butterfly punch, butterfly dies – or both!  They layer so prettily!

A Little Butterfly Note | kelly kent

The other new product that I’m oh-so-excited by is rectangle stitched framelits!!  I’ve been waiting for these for so long!  Wendy Cranford has putting together an amazing resource for sizes (include mat sizes) for each of the rectangles.  See it here.

A Little Butterfly Note | kelly kent

The hearts on the garland were made using the new Dog Builder punch. The dog is super cute – but the heart is amazing too!

A Little Butterfly Note | kelly kent

And that amazing multi-coloured foil I’ve used for the mat and butterflies is a Sale-A-Bration choice for 2019.  It’s free when you spend $90!!!  This generous gift features 8 sheets of 12″ x 12″ metallic foil in Grapefruit Grove and Lovely Lipstick – 4 of each colour.

If you’re new to Stampin’ Up!, you’ll be excited to hear that every Jan-March (this cycle it starts on 3rd Jan 2019), Stampin’ Up! offers free gifts with every $90 you spend on products.  EVERY $90 for all that time.  There’s no limit to how many you can earn!

Sale-A-Bration also brings us a fantastic opportunity on a Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit.  Purchase a $169 Starter Kit and you’ll get your choice of $315 of products and a 20% discount on all purchases until at least July 31st 2019!

Or, purchase the deluxe Starter Kit for $210 and get $315 of your choice of products, an exclusive (and limited edition) Craft & Carry Tote and a 20% discount on all purchases until at least July 31st 2019!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Christmas

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  It’s been oh-so-quiet on my blog of late.  I’m still spending lots of time with Baby Papercraft – but how could I resist this gorgeous smile?

kelly kent | mypapercraftjourney

Not only did we add a baby to Team Papercraft this year, we also added a house! So the last month has been crazy busy with packing, moving & all the things that come with acquiring a new house.

On the upside, the new house comes with enough space for a craft room!  So after many, many, many years of crafting amongst the chaos, I have my very own space to create.  Now, if I could only conjure up some time to spend in my special craft room, the world would be perfect!!!  I have that to look forward to!!!

Although blogging has slipped down my priority list recently, I didn’t want to miss our team hop, so I’ve snuck into the craft room between baby feeds and big kid activities and created a couple of cards to share for our Christmas themed hop.

Big thanks to the talented Shannon Kissane for being our guest designer this hop!  Wasn’t her Christmas project amazing???

Since my craft time is limited, I decided I wanted to create deluxe cards. I pulled out the stunning Joyous Noel Specialty DSP, shiny Copper Foil and copper embossing to create this fancy fold design I’ve been desperate to try after seeing it on Patty Bennett’s Facebook.

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

It’s called a double easel card and they are so easy to make but so stunning!!!

So stunning I made it in two colours!!!

The first is Merry Merlot, Sahara Sand and copper.

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

I’ve taken lots of photos to show you all the angles – which is actually ironic because I haven’t yet worked out what the best option is for photos in the new house!  So they are highly average…. but you get the idea!

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

The card is a normal card base with a folded front attached.  I’ll add measurements & instructions to this post soon (when I have more time!!!)

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

The second is Tranquil Tide, Gray Granite & copper – with gorgeous reindeer!!!

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

It fold flat for posting but stands up for display.  I love any card with this feature!

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

Do you have a favourite?  I love both creations but you know I’m a pushover for anything with reindeer!

Joyous Noel | kelly kent

Thanks for joining us tonight! Next up on the hop is Mandy Depiazzi with her fabulous Christmas creation!

Paper Adventures Team Hop | Halloween

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello & welcome to our team hop – October edition.

The theme this month is the Toil & Trouble suite & Halloween.  We’ve invited the immensely talented Tanya Boser to share her spooky project as our October guest designer.

Halloween isn’t as popular in Australia as other parts of the world.  We don’t give cards or treats out unless it’s trick or treating on the afternoon of 31st – and trick or treating isn’t a tradition for many households.

One of our team, Mandy (you’ll visit her blog on this hop) is running a craft session for kids so they can have some Halloween fun with just the treats! – what a great idea!

Image may contain: text

Despite not celebrating Halloween here at Papercraft HQ, I often buy lots of items from the Halloween section of the Holiday Catalogue because they make great non-Halloween cards – particularly boys & kids themed cards.

So, today I’m sharing with you two cards I made using the super cute Toil & Trouble DSP, finished off with a birthday sentiment.

Toil & Trouble Birthday | kelly kent

The first card is a bat / batman theme using the Spooky Bats Punch (Holiday Catalogue, page 51).  I couldn’t resist the bat punch thinking ahead to making Batman themed birthday cards!

Toil & Trouble Birthday | kelly kent

The second card uses another pattern from the Toil & Trouble DSP featuring spooky cats.  I added this with the cat punch to create another birthday card.

Toil & Trouble Birthday | kelly kent

The Happy Birthday in both of these cards is one of my favourites – you’ll find it in the Perennial Birthday stamp set.

There’s other great patterns in this DSP including frogs, ghosts, witches & plain patterns such as stars, stripes & spots.  So next time you’re ordering DSP, make sure to see beyond the marketed use and imagine what else those patterns could make you!

For more spooky inspiration, please keep hopping and visit our fabulous guest designer – Tanya Boser.

Thanks for joining us!

Country Home Birthdays

While the Country Home stamp set was on my table last week for the Paper Adventures Team hop, it jumped out to me as the perfect set to use for the September team birthday cards.  See the card I made for the team hop by clicking here.

Country Home Birthday | kelly kent

For this card, I used the opposite combination – the jug & other set of flowers.  I love that these pieces have been designed as builder pieces, so you can play around with the combinations.  I’ve set it on a ‘coloured’ doily – but used the reverse side which is white!

Country Home Birthday | kelly kent

The absolutely stunning DSP you spy is my Holiday Catalogue favourite – Frosted Floral Specialty.  Every side of this DSP has a shimmer finish for a elegant touch to any card.  The DSP is a lighter weight than usual – making it perfect for delicate projects such as origami and techniques such as ripping.

Country Home Birthday | kelly kent

Another one of my favourite products from the Holiday Catalogue – that might be flying under the radar a little is the Braided Linen Trim.  It’s quite like the Copper Trim in composition which means you can use it as it comes off the roll, or you can stretch it out for a different look.  I love it!!!  Click here to see it in the online store.

Happy birthday to my September teamies!  Hope your birthdays were amazing.

Celebrating with Shimmer Paint + Clear Case Insert

I {LOVE} new products – especially accessories!

They breathe new life into all the products you already have.

One of the new ranges I was most excited about in the Holiday Catalogue was Shimmer Paints.  For some long term Stampin’ Up! addicts, these are a ‘returning’ product as some colours were previously available in the range.  For me, they are a totally new toy to play with.

There’s 4 colours – Bright Copper, Champagne Mist, Frost White & Vegas Gold.

You can start with one, or add all four!

I went into shimmer overload for this card to celebrate one of my Paper Adventures teamies promoting to Bronze Elite.  She now gets a bigger discount on all her Stampin’ Up! spending!  Congratulations Gayle!

This card features the Bright Copper Shimmer Paint.

Shimmer Paint | kelly kent

It’s nearly impossible to get photos that do any shimmer product justice!  I tried – but this card is best seen in person!

Shimmer Paint | kelly kent

There’s three different ways I’ve used the shimmer paint on this card

  • applied to cardstock with a sponge dauber (“YOU” die cut)
  • misted to the card base using alcohol (Isocol) and shimmer paint in a Stampin’ Spritzer
  • Applied directly to the stamp and used as an ink

Shimmer Paint | kelly kent

Each colour of shimmer paint will give a different effect.  You can mix the shimmer paint with ink refills to create a coloured shimmer.  Or swirl 2 shimmer paints together for a frosted marble look.  The possibilities are endless!

When you order your shimmer paints (click here to visit the online store), make sure you have sponge daubers and spritzers in your collection – or make sure to add these products to your order as well.  They make using shimmer paints so easy!!!  Isocol is available from the medicinal section of Coles, Woolworths or your local supermarket.  Look for the bright green bottle.

As usual, the Stampin’ Up! Clear Cases make the perfect storage solution. All 4 shimmer paints (and their sponge dauber partners) fit into a half stamp case.  Click here to see this product in the online store.

Paper Adventures Team Hop | CAS – Clean & Simple

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello!  Welcome to the September edition of our team blog hop.

I can’t wait for you to see what our Paper Adventures team have created for you this month. You may have joined me from Kim Oliver’s blog – thanks to Kim for being our amazing guest designer this month.  There’s 7 stops today – 5 blogs and 2 Facebook pages.  See below for the full list of participants.

The theme for today’s hop is “CAS” or Clean & Simple.  Of course, everyone has their own definition of what makes a card clean & simple, but I like to think of it as a card that isn’t too fussy.  Clean lines, straight edges, lots of white space and not too many embellishments.

Some people utilise this style really well, but it’s probably not my natural style.  I do love my embellishments!

Every catalogue I buy the stamp set or bundle that everyone is raving about, but isn’t an instant love for me.  I love being enabled by other people’s creativity.  For the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, my enabled purchase was the Country Home stamp set.

This is my CAS creation…

Country Home | kelly kent

The background is the Tin Tile embossing folder.  Like so many of the embossing folders in the catalogues, they truly come to life when you see them used.

Country Home | kelly kent

I’ve added the doily as a pop of colour against my white space.

Country Home | kelly kent

The flowers are coloured with some of the new Stampin’ Blends available in the Holiday Catalogue (Light Real Red, Light & Dark Blackberry Bliss, Light Shaded Spruce, Dark Mint Macaron*) and the cotton flowers have been shimmered using the new (or returning – depending on how long you’ve loved SU! for!) Frost White Shimmer Paint.

*Mint Macaron is a colour shown in the Annual Catalogue.

Thank you for joining us for our Clean & Simple hop. Keep hopping to see what my talented teamie Mandy Depiazzi has created.

What are your weekend plans?  It’s a long weekend here in Western Australia – I’m hoping for good sleep, lots of sunshine and some stamping.

I hope wherever you are in the world, your weekend is full of happiness and amazing weather!!!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Baby & Kids

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello & thanks for joining us for the August Paper Adventures team hop.

The theme tonight is Babies & Kids and our fabulous guest designer is Rochelle Blok.

Babies and kids seemed like an obvious theme for a hop this year with so many of our team having babies & children, nieces & nephews or being amazing grandparents.

I often own most of this section of the catalogue and always love seeing the new sets available with each launch.  One of the fun new additions to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue is the Treehouse Adventures stamp set.

You have all the piece you need in this set to create a super cute treehouse -in whatever colours you like.  The builder stamps are designed to ink up in separate colours, making it easy to put your treehouse together.

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

I’ve mounted my treehouse on one of my favourite fancy fold designs – a Pop Up Slider card.

The middle panel slides up…

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

And down again…

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

So it goes flat into an envelope for giving or posting, but is still super fun for the recipient.  It’s always great to add an element of fun into kids cards!

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

The colours for my treehouse are Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie & Real Red with Early Espresso accents.

The tree is Old Olive & Pear Pizzazz with a Crumb Cake trunk.

The DSP is from the Share What You Love suite – sometimes the reverse side of DSP designs are just perfect for something different from the usual suite.

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

I just love making this style of card – and they really aren’t as hard as they look!  It’s all about the sizing, which you can find on my blog – click here to visit.

Treehouse Adventures | kelly kent

It’s a small but quality Paper Adventures hop today.  Those babies & kids are keeping the team busy!!!

I know you’re going to love what our guest designer – the oh-so-talented Rochelle Blok – has created  Click on the next button below to visit.

Thanks for joining us!
