After a little delay to the start of Social Stamping at the cafe this term (thanks to a snap lockdown), I can’t believe tomorrow is our last session of Term 1. We’ve made some great cards, drunk delicious coffee and shared lots of laughs! The good news is that after a break for school holidays, we’ll be back again in Term 2!
Here’s a sneak peek of one of the cards for tomorrow. Inspired by the catalogue sample on page 29, I’ve adapted to make it work for a larger group.
Rather than stamping each of the colours using the stamp, I’ve used the die to cut out the brushstrokes and filled them in with colour from behind. In rainbow order, they are Magenta Madness, Pumpkin Pie, Bumblebee, Just Jade and Misty Moonlight.
We don’t have the option to heat emboss at the cafe, so I’ve changed the sentiment to white cardstock with Night of Navy ink, and also used Night of Navy for the leaves. Using a dark blue instead of black is one of my favourite tips for getting a dark but solid image. Memento and StazOn black inks are great and definitely have their purposes, but I find it hard to get a consistent coverage unless I stamp several times.
The roses are stamped in Gorgeous Grape and cut with the dies from this coordinating set – Beautiful Brushstrokes Dies. I’ve layered on a vellum circle to give some definition and added some gold gem bling!
I always offer any alternative for classes – but the differences on this one are subtle! The specific sizing of the Brushstrokes die makes it hard to change the layout too much!
Can you spot the changes? The flowers are on the left side, the sentiment in stamped on a long strip and not cut into words and the brushstrokes are upside down compared to the other cards. I can’t wait to see how the stampers change up the design tomorrow to show their creative flair.
