We’ll be seeing lots of green for Just Add Ink this week – the theme is ‘shades of green. What a fabulous way to paint the gallery!
For my shades of green projects I wanted to use my current favourite green dream team – Mint Macaron and Just Jade. Their compatibility makes stamping a piece of cake. I have a mint green bike which was the inspiration for one of the cards and an old-school telephone seemed like the perfect extension of the vintage theme.
If we’re going vintage, then the first place to look for stamps is the retired shelves of my stamp collection. The bike is from a set I don’t use very often but can’t bear to part with – Bike Ride stamp set.
I just love the cute bike – reminiscent of childhood days gone by. Though of course, everything old is new again at some point and these bikes became very trendy again in the past decade. The stamp set is sentiment free and instead filled with wonderful bike accessories – like the stack of books I’ve used. I’ve borrowed the sentiment from the Welcome to the Team stamp set, another favourite in the retired stash.
For the second card, I needed to find a “stamp” to fit with my vision for this card. I don’t have any old style telephones in my stamp set collection, but (ironically for the theme) modern technology means I can buy a digital stamp for almost any theme. The telephone is from a digital collection by Taka Tatu. You can see their Etsy store by clicking here. I printed the telephone on Basic White cardstock and then coloured it with Stampin’ Blends.
The writing paper (as a continuation of the communication theme) is another retired set – Writing Notes – together with the Spiral Border Punch across the top.
The sentiment is from one of my all time favourite sets of Sale-A-Bration. It’s simply called “Hello” and I just love the combination of the hello script and the byline greetings. The card is finished off with an embossed background layer and a ribbon & paper clip embellishment.
What retired products do you have on your shelves that you can’t bear to part with?
To see the cards from the rest of the Just Add Ink design team, visit the Just Add Ink blog. You can also add your ‘shades of green’ creation to the gallery and enter the challenge.
Each week we choose our favourites as the winner and honourable mentions. We love seeing the projects you share and we’re sure this week we’ll be green with envy at all the wonderful products you use!
PS, if you are an email subscriber you may have seen this blog post with lots of Xs! I’m terrible with remembering details – like the exact names of stamp sets. I always have to look them up! I wrote my post earlier today in the kitchen while the kids were eating dinner and didn’t get a chance to get back to all those details before it went live – whoops! All fixed now 🙂
