Although I’d love to hang out at the craft table all day (and night) I have two other jobs that keep me busy. They are both equally as fun and interesting with very different pay rates and job descriptions. My job as a Mumma to the three Mini Papercrafts pays in love and kisses. My job as a Speech Pathologist pays in gratitude and the satisfaction of being able to help children communicate.
Last week was Speech Pathology Week – a week of celebrating Speech Pathologists and the workplaces in which they help others. The theme for 2020 was Communicating with Confidence. This is me with my fabulous work colleagues in our Speech Pathology Week shirts.
Approximately 5% of the population have communication difficulties. Communicating with confidence is vital to enable everyone to participate fully in the social, educational, economic and sporting aspects of community life. We believe that families have the right to access the support and opportunities they need to help their children develop, learn, participate and thrive. It’s a pleasure to be part of the complex journey a family takes when their child has a communication difficulty.
A couple of weeks ago my love of paper and being a Speech Pathologist collided when a friend needed a card to thank the Speech Pathologist her son had been seeing. Speech Pathologists, affectionately known as “Speechies” love a good play on words, so gnome pun seemed like the perfect card for the occasion.
This card started with the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set – specifically the ‘like gnome other’ phrase. The base of the card uses the Peek-A-Hoot Dies to create some structure for the other parts of the card – and a window for the cute little gnome house to peek out. The DSP for this card is from the In Good Taste DSP.
The gnome has undergone a transition from Christmas gnome to garden themed gnome with some paper piecing on her hat and coordinating colouring with Stampin’ Blends.
The “Speechie” letters are cut from the Playful Alphabet Dies in Misty Moonlight cardstock with Foam Adhesive Sheets for extra impact and lots of Wink of Stella for the sparkle she deserves!
If you’re looking for a thank you stamp set for your collection to cover all types of thankful occasions, I really love the Massive Thanks stamp set from the Annual Catalogue.
Thank you to all the Speech Pathologists across the world – you are awesome! If you know a “Speechie”, let them know what a fantastic job they are doing!
What a lovely card to showcase your two worlds colliding! I just love punny sentiments, and this one is one of my favourites.
