Happy Saturday! Saturday has been one of the highlights of my blogging week for the past 3 months as I hop with my stamping friends as a way to stay connected through these COVID times. Today’s theme is “thinking of you”. There’s a full list of all the themes so far and all the designers participating in today’s hop on the main blog post for this hop – click here to visit.
For my cards today I’ve made 2 cards using the split card technique – an idea shared by Jennifer McGuire last month. It’s a great way to get two cards with one lot of stamping and a great corner or border style design. You can see Jennifer’s post here.
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measured 5-5/8″ x 7-3/4″ and stamped the blossoms in Misty Moonlight down the middle portion of the cardstock, adding in Seaside Spray flowers, Night of Navy mini flowers and Crumb Cake accents.
The inspiration for the colours of this design came from Stacey Marsh – a demo I recently starting following in the UK. Check out her Instagram – she’s amazing! She had me at blue flowers!!
Once all the stamping is done, cut the cardstock down the middle (at 3-7/8″) and use the pieces to make up your cards.
This first card features a Crumb Cake base and Vellum butterflies using the Butterfly Duet Punch. The sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set cut using one of the label dies from the Hippo & Friends set.
The second card features a Seaside Spray base, hearts from the Pattern Play stamp set and sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.
This technique makes it easy to whip up some cards to send to family and friends in no time at all. Feeling adventurous? Try stamping a whole sheet and cutting into 4 pieces!!! Or using die cuts for your images. There’s so many possibilities!
Next up for more ‘thinking of you’ inspiration is my gorgeous friend Narelle Simm.
