Social Stamping | new normal

Hey there, thanks for stopping by for a Social Stamping Blog Host with my friends.  You can see the full list of designers who have joined in for this theme by clicking here.

As we ease from COVID into post COVID, we settle into what is now our new normal.  There’s some really wonderful things we are taking from the lessons of a global pandemic.  We’re also at the start of a new catalogue – yay!  So, the theme for today’s blog hop is “new”.

When reflecting on this theme, and my experiences during COVID, one of the things I really enjoyed was the simplicity and space that being at home more and being less busy allowed.  As we pave a path forwards into what life looks like after the coronavirus of 2020, the pace is picking up and I miss the lazy starts to the day, the time to bake (and craft!) and being able to spend time being fun with the kids.  I’d like to keep some of the simplicity and luxury of time that we experienced and build this into our new normal.

I wanted the essence of simplicity to come through in my cards for today’s hop, so as well as using new products, I’ve used simple stamping (well, simple compared to my usual style).

Jar of Flowers | kelly kent

My cards today feature the Jar Punch in a solid colour, cut twice to make it a little shorter.  Cut once as usual, then feed the bottom of the jar back into the bottom of the punch and punch again.

The white panel used as the backdrop for the card is cut from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies (scalloped rectangle) and then embossed with the new Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder.  This is a fabulous addition to the range of embossing folders – just a bit more texture than the Subtle folder, but still very nondescript so it doesn’t detract from your theme. I’ve used the same die set for the sentiment, which is white heat embossed from the Forever Fern stamp set.

With simple in mind, I just love the look of a leafy die in the jar.  Not to complicate things, I used the same colours and general styling and created two more cards.

The sentiment for this card is stamped directly onto the jar and is from the Many Mates stamp set.  This versatile set is going to be a favourite from this catalogue for all your greeting needs.

I’m sad that the Whisper White twine has retired, but there’s still a couple of twine options in the new catalogue.  The blue (Misty Moonlight / Night of Navy) cards feature the Misty Moonlight / silver Baker’s Twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.  The pink (Blushing Bride / Rococo Rose) cards feature Linen Thread – a staple favourite.

Thanks for joining me today.  Next fabulous designer to visit is Lisa Whitehead with her beautiful new project.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Kelly I love your insights into the current situation. Now that the healthcare sector is much more stable- though still scary- I am finally finding some time and space to sit and reflect too. It is good. I hope you are able to maintain much of that simplicity in your family. Love the simple cards and layout- and of course I’m already sold on the jar! I miss the white twine too – although there is still plenty in my stash

  2. Isn’t this bundle fun Kelly? Loved it as soon as i saw it. Still to break it in properly but love your versions.
I do hope you can keep some of the simple things going but with three to run after it may be a challenge. At least treasure the memories that you had this time together and the fun it was. x

  3. Love the simplicity and those greetings from Many Mates are just awesome. Great cards, and love the linen thread too – what a great standby for any project!!

  4. Gorgeous cards! I love the Misty Moonlight card and the twine is gorgeous. I so miss the Whisper White Bakers Twine.

  5. Ooooo, divine, divine, divine! I just love all of these. They are simple(ish) but very impactful. I adore that new EF, it is just the right pop of texture without competing against the other elements on the card. You are the master of tiny bows, and I love the twine additions to the jars. I had not noticed that MM combo pack but I am off to add it to my order now! 🙂 Siobhan.
