Hello & thanks for joining us for a Paper Adventures team blog hop.
The theme today is “CASE the designer” and the designer is Sam Hammond Donald – aka “Pootles” from the UK. We are touched that she has agreed to join us. The friendship and kindness within the Stampin’ Up! community is amazing. Sam is a million dollar earner with a successful blog. She shares a project every day on her blog including cards & 3D projects. Sam is so generous with her time and talent – thank you Sam!
This is the card Sam made for our hop using Best Dressed DSP & Witty-cisms stamp set.
The team were encouraged to CASE (Copy & Share Everything or Copy & Selectively Edit) Sam’s design and create their own version based on the elements that influenced them. It might have been the colours, the layout, the styling, the stamp set or the DSP.
I really loved that background and wanted to make it using cardstock rather than the Best Dressed DSP.
I cut Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink and Purple Posy cardstock into random width strips and adhered them to a Whisper White base. I then stitched around the outside to create a decorative border. I really love stitching on cards.
Where Sam used the Witty-cisms stamp set, I’ve added in a favourite flourish of mine – a heart and flower combination and a white heat embossed “thanks” sentiment.
The heart is from the Be Mine Stitched Dies, the flowers from Dressed to Impress bundle and ‘thanks’ from the Music From The Heart stamp set.
I’ve carried the flowers through to the middle layer of the card too. They are coloured with Stampin’ Blends – Lovely Lipstick, Purple Posy, Pink Pirouette (retired) and Pretty Peacock.
Although I cut the card up to achieve the background, this also works really well for those 1/4″ & 1/2″ strips that end up piling up on our desk when we’re cutting A4 sheets down into mat size.
Thanks to the team for always being so willing to join in the blog hop and to Sam for making it a special one this month. In a time of certainty, it was lovely to have this sparkling moment in our week.
Next blog on the hop is Siobhan Fitzsimmons and her pretty creation.
Have a safe and happy weekend. I’ll be spending time with my family, enjoying the sunshine and hopefully some self isolation (from the kids!) in the craft room!!!

Perfect way to use up our many scraps-makes a stunning card!
Can we really self isolate from the kids in the craft room?? I’m so up for that. Love your stripey creation, I love how you’ve made that background yourself, it adds so much textural interest. A great scrap buster (because who can bear to throw away any little bit of pretty card or paper?). And I really love the actual for real life sewing detail. 🙂 S.
I love the stripy background on this card Kelly and the stitching! I must try that one day, combine my two loves papercrafting and sewing!
