It’s the third Monday of the month and I’m excited to be hopping with the Stamp Review Crew.
Our theme for today is Geared Up Garage – part of the Classic Garage suite.
This stamp set is available in the Occasions catalogue and is perfect for all your rev-head card needs.
Since it’s release, I’ve seen a few steampunk themed cards made with this bundle and that’s the direction I wanted to take for my project.
If you’re not familiar with steampunk, it’s a genre of design inspired by symbolism of the industrial revolution of the 1800s and a romantic perspective of Victorian Era’s steam powered technology.
The cogs from the coordinating framelits to this stamp set are perfect for this theme!
The Smoky Slate mat for the card was stamped using the splotch image in full strength Smoky Slate ink and also stamped off to create some lighter images. The nuts are stamped in Basic Gray.
Once all the stamping was some, I crushed and crinkled the cardstock to give it more vintage & distressed look (this was fun!). I smoothed it out and curled the corner using a bone folder.
The die cut images for the card were all cut in foil – gold for the clouds, champagne for the cogs and copper for the hot air balloon (with copper embossed balloon image).
The mat behind the Smoky Slate is silver foil embossed with the Subtle folder to add more texture. And then behind that is DSP from the Classic Garage DSP Stack.
The card was finished with the ‘You’re a Classic’ sentiment which was perfect for this vintage style card. This is on silver foil with StazOn Black ink.
There were definitely times during making this card that I felt a little out of my depth – vintage is not my usual style. But I love how it all came together.
It’s always fun to see stamp set both in the light they were designed in but to also be taken on a journey of seeing that stamp set through the eyes of others.
Next up on the Stamp Review Crew hop is Lauren Alarid, one of the crazy talented Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team members for 2019.
Thanks for hopping with us!
