6″ Mini Album | Share What You Love DSP

Last week a very special friend of mine turned 40 and hosted a fabulous party. I wanted to make a bespoke keepsake that could double as gift and a place to keep her party memories.

This made it the perfect opportunity to make my first mini-album.  I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time and I’m so glad I finally got there!!!  My love of mini albums started when Jacqui Crouch made one for my 5th stampaversary blog hop – and then posted it to me as a gift.  It still has pride of place on my shelf and I love it!

Between a combination of studying Jacqui’s album design, watching you tube tutorials and winging it, this was my final result…

The album cover is 6″ and the pages are approx 5-3/4″.  The whole album is constructed from scratch using the firm cardboard packaged with glimmer paper.  I found this you tube tutorial particularly helpful.

The album contains 12 pages decorated with Share What You Love DSP,.  There’s a mix of fixed photo spaces, cascading photo spaces and photo pages that side out from a belly band.

Of course every amazing gift needs a coordinating card.

I used the same style of card as I shared with you during the week – it’s call a Pull Out Side Pocket Card.  You can find the previous post with instructions and links by clicking here.

Large Numbers Framelits and Milestone Moments that I used for the album & card are now retired – but they are staple parts of my crafting stash and it’ll take a good replacement option before I part with them!

Stampin’ Up! currently only sell packs of 12″ cardstock in Whisper White and Very Vanilla.  The Kraft cardstock I used for the album & card is an alternative brand.

I’m already planning my next album – the question is… which DSP???  What current or retired DSP do you think would make an amazing album design?

  1. Love it, made a mock up this afternoon as practice and really enjoyed doing it. But I’m now stuck for decorating pages. Where did you find your inspiration for page layout etc. Thanks in advance x

    1. Hi Barry – you were quick! Took me 2 years!!! 🙂 I had a lovely album on my desk from Jacqui Crouch that helped with layout inspiration and I also did some Google searching. Ultimately I ended up with four types of pages – flip style, belly band, pocket and a cardstock mat. I rotated these throughout the album. There’s lots more fussier examples from other crafters, but this simple style suited me for a first attempt. Can’t wait to see pictures of your finished album!

  2. I love it! I love it so much I went to watch the other video. With new grandbabies due this year, I’ll need a few of these. I have a question for you. Would you be willing to share how you add some of the extra pages to your already planned pages? This is just the kind of books new mother’s will want. I was so enthralled with your book, I didn’t want to take my eyes off of it. Any measurements and a little explanation on how you adhered your flip pages in your book, pages 2,5,8,and 11. I’d also like your measurements for page 6. I’ve never in my life made an album. I just hope I’m up to the task of making a bunch of them. ANY and ALL help is apparated! I’m sorry, I can’t spell! I hope you understand what I’m trying to say?

    1. Hi Gloria – your grandbabies will be so lucky to get their own special albums. I’ll try to upload more specific instructions later in the week for you.

      1. Thank you so much Kelly! I’m sure my grandchildren will love these books when I’m old and can’t remember who they are. I’m very grateful you’d take the time to put up all your measurements for the different styles. You call this easy? I’m terrified! I don’t like to scrapbook! But, just thinking about tjose new grandbabies is motive enough for me to make these! So, again, I say Thank you!

  3. Hi Kelly,

Please keep me in mind if you may know of a stamper interested in selling their (used or new) *Lily Photopolymer Stamp Set *and coordinating *Lily Framelit Dies*.

Thank you, I appreciate you checking. Christine christine.b.perry@gmail.com
