8 years ago I was in labour with the first of our Miss Papercrafts. She took her time coming, so technically her birthday isn’t until tomorrow, but we’re back on deck with Colour INKspiration tomorrow so I thought I’d do a sneaky share today (thankfully she doesn’t read my blog!)
Usually for birthdays I match the theme of the card with the party or present theme. Now that she’s getting older, her presents are often experiences and opportunities – which don’t always translate well to cards.
So this year, I did something I’m not sure I’ve done before – I asked her what she wanted on her birthday card. No surprises from our future Vet, she asked for animals.
The Animal Expedition DSP made for a fun & pretty card base. This DSP is awesome – I just love the colouring, style and different animal choices.
I added a birthday sentiment panel using the large circle from Swirly Frames, words from the Piece of Cake stamp set and a glittery number 8 using retired Large Numbers and Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper. I find myself using quite a few of my retired products lately – I love keeping things that are just perfect for a card down the track.
The stamps in the Swirly Frames set are fabulous for adding detail to plain shapes. It’s been on my shelf for a while, but it wasn’t until this week that I got it inky.
Here’s an iphone quickie (while it’s still on my work space!) of a card I made for a custom order during the week using the rectangle frame…
What stamp set is sitting on your shelf needing some love?
If there’s one thing stampers are good at, it’s collecting supplies and forgetting to send cards! I’m running behind on my February birthday cards – hoping to get them posted very soon!
