Hi there! Thanks for joining me for tonight’s CASEing the Catty blog hop. I love being part of this creative group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that share projects inspired by the pages of the catalogue.
This week it’s all about the How Sweet It Is section of the catalogue and following pages. There’s 10 pages of glorious colour, design & inspiration waiting for us all. The first few pages focus on the How Sweet It is suite but after that there’s a range of stamp sets, kits, punches & dies! Spoilt for choice this week!
I have been totally in love with the Cupcake Builder Punch & Piece of Cake stamp set this week. You might have seen the shaker card I posted on Thursday for Just Add Ink.
So, it was this page I was drawn to in the catalogue – and that amazing sparkly drip cake at the centre of the card below.
In an effort to be organised for a big week of celebrations ahead, I used this challenge to make a card for Mr Papercraft. It’s our 10 year wedding anniversary this week. 3 kids, 2 houses and 1 dog later, he’s still the one for me!
I didn’t want to CASE this whole card, but instead used the cake as the starting inspiration point for my card.
The cake, stand and heart were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured using Stampin’ Blends before liberally adding Clear Wink of Stella to make it all sparkly.
The sentiments for this card came from the Well Said stamp set (except the ‘happy’ which is from a cake in the Piece of Cake stamp set). Although it may seem like a bit of an outlay for this huge stamp set, the investment is priceless to have all the standard word sentiments at your fingertips plus a range of fabulous sayings to match. I just love the one I’ve used on this card!
I’ve layered the DSP on this card – something I always forget to do!!! The bottom DSP is Flirty Flamingo stripes from the Brights DSP Stack and the top layer is from All My Love. Mr Papercraft was hanging out watching tv in my craft room when I was making this card and he unwittingly chose his own DSP!
I’ll be the first to admit I’m very influenced by DSP colours. Flirty Flamingo wasn’t anywhere near my favourite colour before the All My Love DSP but the pretty tones of the DSP have me converted!!! Rich Razzleberry was the same until Share What You Love came along!
What’s a colour you’ve come to love recently? I love that favourites can come & go with Stampin’ Up! because they are all wonderful in their own way (and because the fabulous designers are always making pretty new DSP designs for me to fall in love with!).
Please join in with CASEing the Catty challenge and upload your card to our Facebook group. Click here to visit.
You’ll also want to keep hopping to see the other great projects by the design team. Next up is my gorgeous friend Tina Gillespie…
Thanks for visiting,

Happy Anniversary!! Although where’s the pic of you! Love your card.
I’ve become rather partial to Lemon Lime Twist! It was my least favourite of the incolours but it has grown on me.
Happy anniversary! The cake looks so yummy I could eat it.
Grapefruit Grove has grown on my since the Foil Sheets came out in SAB.
Happy Anniversary! Your card is amazing and he will love it 🙂
Happy Anniversary to you both! Your card is so sweet, Kelly. I’ve just bought this bundle, so thanks for the inspiration.
Petal Pink has been my nemesis (memories of 80’s apricot, lol), but that has changed with the Floral Romance DSP.
Happy 10 yrs!! may there be many more! Gorgeous card Kelly. I don’t think I particulary like Grapefruit Grove- but then I’m always surprised by how often I reach for it to add to a project. Guess we aren’t always conscious of our own likes and dislikes.!
But I don;t think I’ll ever really love Pumpkin Pie!
Congratulations! Gorgeous card Kelly, love it x
Happy 10th Anniversary. Love you card Kelly, the sentiment is just perfect.
Happy anniversary, lovebirds! I love this card, so striking with the minimal colour palette. And I really love that you sneakily made it while he was right there in the craft room!!
Awesome inspiration and a brilliant reason to create a sparkly cake card using flirty flamingo. It all shouts an awesome celebration!
Aww, happy anniversary! Your card is fabulous, and I agree about the Well Said bundle – such a great investment.
