Paper Adventures Team Hop | Halloween

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Hello & welcome to our team hop – October edition.

The theme this month is the Toil & Trouble suite & Halloween.  We’ve invited the immensely talented Tanya Boser to share her spooky project as our October guest designer.

Halloween isn’t as popular in Australia as other parts of the world.  We don’t give cards or treats out unless it’s trick or treating on the afternoon of 31st – and trick or treating isn’t a tradition for many households.

One of our team, Mandy (you’ll visit her blog on this hop) is running a craft session for kids so they can have some Halloween fun with just the treats! – what a great idea!

Despite not celebrating Halloween here at Papercraft HQ, I often buy lots of items from the Halloween section of the Holiday Catalogue because they make great non-Halloween cards – particularly boys & kids themed cards.

So, today I’m sharing with you two cards I made using the super cute Toil & Trouble DSP, finished off with a birthday sentiment.

Toil & Trouble Birthday | kelly kent

The first card is a bat / batman theme using the Spooky Bats Punch (Holiday Catalogue, page 51).  I couldn’t resist the bat punch thinking ahead to making Batman themed birthday cards!

The second card uses another pattern from the Toil & Trouble DSP featuring spooky cats.  I added this with the cat punch to create another birthday card.

The Happy Birthday in both of these cards is one of my favourites – you’ll find it in the Perennial Birthday stamp set.

There’s other great patterns in this DSP including frogs, ghosts, witches & plain patterns such as stars, stripes & spots.  So next time you’re ordering DSP, make sure to see beyond the marketed use and imagine what else those patterns could make you!

For more spooky inspiration, please keep hopping and visit our fabulous guest designer – Tanya Boser.

Thanks for joining us!

  1. I absolutely love these!! I hadn’t even thought about the Batman reference – that’s brilliant. These are simple but oh so striking. The colour palette means they are suited to any recipient. So cool!!
