Stampin’ Up! ® has just had a major colour revamp so to start off the new catalogue year at Colour INKspiration we’ve decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit. This month we are starting off with the NEUTRALS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project. We are also changing the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the Basics – Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics.
The Neutrals range had a big shake-up in the Color Revamp. Black, White & Vanilla became “Basics”, Chocolate Chip retired, Night of Navy moved in and we were joined by Gray Granite, Merry Merlot & Mossy Meadow.
The inclusion of a dark blue, red & green may seem strange in a collection that we are used to seeing filled with browns, grays, black & white, but Stampin’ Up! research found that people were using colours like Night of Navy as a neutral – in that it provided a great coordinating colour for the other collections.
I wanted to make a card for a team member who has recently finished a further studies course – it’s been a big 12 months for her and I’m so proud of everything she’s achieved!!!
She loves blues, so I’ve used Night of Navy and combined it with Basic Gray and Smoky Slate for my 3 Neutrals.
With my colours sorted, I turned to the sketch running at TGIF for the layout…
This is the card….
I coloured Deightfully Detailed DSP segment with Smoky Slate using the Sponge brayer and also a layer of Shimmery White with Night of Navy Ink. Using inks in a colour challenge as well as cardstock is a great way to get variation in colour tones as the ink may be a less intense version of the colour.
The sentiment was made using the Celebrate You Thinlits (if these look familiar, it’s because they were a Sale-A-Bration item that have carried over to the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue).
The top layer of the ‘amazing’ was made using the now retired Myths & Magic Washi Tape, layered on a Basic Gray die cut to give it definition. The “you” is Night of Navy covered with Wink of Stella (also layered on Basic Gray).
Who said Neutrals had to be boring???
Next up to visit on this wonderful hop is the talented Tanya Bell…
Thanks for joining us. If you’re inspired to create a card using colours from the Neutrals Collection (plus any Basic or metallic), you can share it for our challenge in our Facebook group. Click here to visit.
