Hello Sunday! And welcome to a CASEing the Catty blog hop, where the design team shares their creative inspirations from the pages of the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.
Today’s theme is Sale-A-Bration…
You’ll see a range of projects inspired by the samples of the 2018 Sale-A-Bration catalogue.
I loved the ombre effect of the sample at the bottom of this photo on page 17…
So I set about making this feature the centrepiece of my card. I think the sample used cardstock for their letters. I created something similar using the Stampin’ Blends and Shimmery White Cardstock.
I coloured across the cardstock for this card….
Here’s what it looked like before I die cut –
Colours:
- Light Pink Pirouette, Dark Pink Pirouette, Light Rich Razzleberry, Dark Rich Razzleberry
- Light Night of Navy, Dark Night of Navy, Dark Bermuda Bay, Light Bermuda Bay
- Light Daffodil Delight, Dark Daffodil Delight, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Light Pumpkin Pie
Here’s a close-up of the die cuts. I backed the cardstock with Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets before I ran it through the Big Shot – it makes it so easy to stick them on with no fuss or mess!
I coloured down the cardstock to get this style of ombre…
Here’s the pre-cut cardstock
Colours –
- Dark Pink Pirouette, Light Rich Razzleberry, Dark Rich Razzleberry
- Light Night of Navy, Light Bermuda Bay, Dark Bermuda Bay
- Light Daffodil Delight, Dark Daffodil Delight, Dark Pumpkin Pie
The twine – which started white – was also coloured using Stampin’ Blends by running it under the brush tip along a clear stamping block. To get a slightly ombre effect, I
The addition of the ink from the blends makes it a bit thicker & more rustic, so I was able to curl the ends slightly using closed scissor blades.
I will never tire of my Blends!! Have you got yours? There’s lots of colours but if you add a couple of colours to each order you place, you’ll have a gorgeous set before you know it!
We’re just short of half way through the Sale-A-Bration promotion. Which means there’s still plenty of time to earn your rewards – and also 4 new items to look forward to very soon. The second Sale-A-Bration release starts on 16th Feb!!!
Next up for the design crew is Mel Pagano and her super cute Hedgehugs creation….

Wow! Very clever and the effect is awesome!
Lovely cards Kelly, what a great tip, and the word is not too big so you wouldn’t use too much ink I wouldn’t think. You are amazing!
So pretty, Thanks for sharing how you made it amazing!
Wow, such a clever way to create the effect. I was thinking of trying this but thought I’d have to colour the already cut words. Your way is so much simpler. Thankyou.
