It’s been a busy week here at Papercraft HQ, but I couldn’t resist this fabulous challenge by Rochelle!
I {LOVE} stitching on cards!!! You’re going to love the cards the clever design team have created.
Stop by the Just Add Ink blog to see them all – and enter your stitched creation into our weekly challenge.
Did I say already that I love stitching on cards? I really do!
I often stitch cards in white, but for this challenge, I wanted to step it up a little and see how the metallic thread would go in my sewing machine.
I threaded it for the top layer, and left the bottom layer as a white bobbin thread. It worked – to a point! Then it kept snapping the super fine thread.
But that’s ok! With a bit more care, a little working of the wheel (rather than the pedal), I got a great border for my card.
And a cute butterfly trail!
The hand winding was a little more work, but – look at the finish!!! And another great way to use our SU! products!
Do you love the sentiment? It’s from a new stamp set available in June called Colourful Seasons.
I had so much fun with all the copper on this card!
Getting photos in the wind this afternoon wasn’t so much fun!
But I had to laugh when I saw this action shot on the camera…
That butterfly just wanted to fly!
Can’t wait to see what you create for our stitching challenge.
You can use machine sewing like me, Stitched Shapes Framelits like some of the design team – or try out your own stitched creation!

Hey Kelly,
Great minds think alike I was only thinking about the metallic thread and if it would work in a sewing machine last night as I waited for my train.
Good on you!
Love the design btw.
Cheers

Copper crush happening right here! Love that you used the copper thread, it looks awesome Kelly and teamed with the other copper elements…I’m in love! xx
Ooh that copper looks fabulous and your stitching is amazing – especially that trail behind the butterfly!
LOL, had to laugh at the action shot! The touches of copper are fabulous, and the hand cranking was definitely worth the effort.
Absolutely adore this card Kelly with all its sparkly copper details! Love the trail behind the butterfly – the effort was definitely worth it – and you’re doing a great job of convincing me I need that set too 🙂 xx
This is fabulous!
Love your butterfly trail Kelly and that you took the time to hand crank the wheel to get it! Love how it matches that gorgeous flowery DSP xxx
How gorgeous does the metallic stitching look! You’ve done a beautiful job, and created a gorgeous card – well done on the patience this must have taken. x
Outstanding Kelly. You did a better job at sewing with the thread the I did once lol. Loving all the copper on this card!!
