Thanks to the fantastic suggestion by Karren, this week at Just Add Ink, we’re all making or stamping critters.
This has created a bit of discussion on the JAI design team page as we chatted about what defines a critter???
It seems that any living creature or animal-like character fits the bill.
I wonder if my Gruffalo card would pass the critter test? (PS, I am never making that card again!)
My critter thoughts took me to a special birthday card I wanted to make for a very special person!
Carolyn Bennie, who is just as delightful in person as she is over a computer screen – had a birthday this month. And one of my all-time favourite designs of hers was this cute swinging koala.
Now, it’s hard to compete with that level of amazingness – but I do know that she appreciates and loves a good pun.
As do I!
So, I sent “koalaty’ birthday wishes over to South Australia.
This is my third version of a punch art koala (see the other two here and here).
I decided that this one would be made using the Blossom Builder punch (and the 1/2″ & 1-1/2″ circle punches).
To make your own Blossom Koala:
Ears: 1/2″ circle with flower in the middle
Head: 1-1/2″ circle
Eyes: Owl Builder Punhc
Nose: leaf
Mouth: hand drawn
Body: 1-1/2″ circle
Tummy: large petal
Arms: leaf
Legs: leaf with end snipped off
This might be the best koalaty (quality) one yet!
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
You can find all the design team projects by visiting the Just Add Ink blog!
You’ll also be able to upload your critter inspired projects & join the challenge.
I’m looking forward to seeing lots of cuteness!
