Just Add Ink #353 Critters

Just Add Ink Design Team

Thanks to the fantastic suggestion by Karren, this week at Just Add Ink, we’re all making or stamping critters.

This has created a bit of discussion on the JAI design team page as we chatted about what defines a critter???

It seems that any living creature or animal-like character fits the bill.

I wonder if my Gruffalo card would pass the critter test? (PS, I am never making that card again!)

My critter thoughts took me to a special birthday card I wanted to make for a very special person!

Carolyn Bennie, who is just as delightful in person as she is over a computer screen – had a birthday this month.  And one of my all-time favourite designs of hers was this cute swinging koala.

Now, it’s hard to compete with that level of amazingness – but I do know that she appreciates and loves a good pun.

As do I!

So, I sent “koalaty’ birthday wishes over to South Australia.

Just Add Ink #353 - Critters. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

This is my third version of a punch art koala (see the other two here and here).

I decided that this one would be made using the Blossom Builder punch (and the 1/2″ &  1-1/2″ circle punches).

Just Add Ink #353 - Critters: Koala punch art. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

To make your own Blossom Koala:

Ears: 1/2″ circle with flower in the middle

Head: 1-1/2″ circle

Eyes: Owl Builder Punhc

Nose: leaf

Mouth: hand drawn

Body: 1-1/2″ circle

Tummy: large petal

Arms: leaf

Legs: leaf with end snipped off

This might be the best koalaty (quality) one yet!

Thanks for letting me share it with you!

You can find all the design team projects by visiting the Just Add Ink blog!

You’ll also be able to upload your critter inspired projects & join the challenge.

I’m looking forward to seeing lots of cuteness!

Amazing Mandy!

Did you see the special I posted this morning for recruits who sign on during Sale-A-Bration?

Mandy joined our Paper Adventures team in January and found a passion she didn’t know she was missing!

Her cards are amazing – check out her newly started blog!

I had the wonderful opportunity of making a celebratory card for Mandy this week – as she promoted to Bronze Elite and earned the final part of the Quick Start program.

Mandy will now get 25% discount on all her purchases (Bronze Elite perk), 10,000 flex points for achieving Quick Start and because she made her first quarter minimum, she’ll get the Better Together stamp set.

How amazing is all that!!!

Here’s the fun card I made to celebrate her success…

I took a few photos of this fun card to try & share all the pretty details with you.

This is his fancy blanket – copper embossed and blinged up with pearls.

I’m enjoying all the different ways you can change this elephant up!

And the inside of the card…

And another view of the front…

I’m really loving this elephant – I’m sure you’ve noticed!!!

A few fellow stampers have blamed me for enabling them!  I’m always happy to lead you down the path of temptation!

Do you have a last minute order before Sale-A-Bration finishes on Friday???

Don’t miss out on those fabulous freebies!

Double Happiness Wedding Wishes

It’s been a big week of custom requests – which I {LOVE}!

This one was a wedding card with an Asian theme.

I used the couple’s wedding invite as a base for the theme – giving me a colour palette of red, white & black and the beautiful Chinese symbol for double happiness.

This is what I created…

The double happiness symbol was the centrepiece of the card, surrounded by some red cherry blossoms made using the Tree Builder punch.

I added their initials on vellum in gold embossing to the bottom right hand corner and finished the card with some pretty hearts from the Window Box Thinlits die.

I hope the happy couple had a wonderful wedding day!  It was a pleasure to make a card for your special occasion.

Cello Shaker Cards – bigger & better!

Hello!  Did you see the cello bag shaker cards I posted for CTC#120?  If you missed them, you can see them here.

I’m so in love with this concept!  It’s seriously the quickest & easiest way to make a shaker card.

And I found, bigger is actually better in this case!

The 2 cards I’m sharing today use a 130x90mm cello bags that take up most of the card front.

The bigger bag means the shaker embellishments have lots of room to move around – which is lots of fun!

The first version was a 3rd birthday card for a little super hero we know using the Everyday Hero stamp set.

Using this way of making a shaker, you can have a mix of things in the bag, and things on the outside.

The next cello shaker is super girly using the Sprinkles embellishments…

The big birthday sentiment looks great on this simple but fun card.

This style is amazingly easy!  Choose a cello bag that will fit on your card front (or fold down to size).

Cut a piece of cardstock to fit snugly inside.

Stamp/embellish to suit you theme, fill with a fun shaker material, seal and adhere to your card front.

And then watch the recipient have fun as they chase the shaker pieces across the whole card!

CASEing the Catty #121 Sale-A-Bration

Welcome to CASEing the Catty #121 – our final hop featuring the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

That’s right!  As of the end of this month, Sale-A-Bration 2017 will be finished and there won’t be any further chances to redeem Sale-A-Bration products.

There’s lots to choose from across 3 releases – see the gallery at the end of this post for all the choices.

You’re going to love the projects the crew are sharing today.

My CTC projects were a little multi-taskng opportunity.

I caught up with a fabulous friend this weekend who asked me to bring along any blank / no sentiment cards I had lying around.  I was under strict instructions not to make any extra work for myself.

I completely followed those instructions – and created these lovely sentiment free cards for her as part of my CASEing the Catty requirements.

Sneaky – huh?

I love a ‘no sentiment’ card, so these were super fun to make.

What did I CASE you ask???

Well, it was the 2nd release flyer that was part of my plan, since I haven’t yet featured this in a CTC post.

Specifically, the cards on the front cover…

From those samples, to these inspired creations…

The first card used the doily feature, watercolour centrepiece & some of the pieces from Carosels & Cupcakes stamp set.

The next card uses the Stylish Stems Framelits along a centre panel with some of the Sale-A-Bration glimmer paper as a feature.

And the final card uses the sketch layout from the card – but in a monochromatic Night of Navy & Whisper White theme (with a touch of burlap / Kraft).

I can’t pick a favourite… can you?

With Sale-A-Bration nearing to an end, it’s time to stock up on any of your basics and/or buy the items on your wishlist.
