Good afternoon!
Today you’ve joined me for another ESAD blog hop! Thanks for stopping by!
This hop is all about the new catalogues that launched on Wednesday – Occasions & Sale-A-Bration 2017.
Prepare for your wishlist to grow, to be excited about things you didn’t notice the first time and fall in love all over again with your favourites.
If you’re already on your way hopping, did you love what the fabulous Monique made??? If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to keep hopping til you get back here – that’s a full loop.
There’s a few of us on this hop & so much talent!. So, settle in with a cuppa or wine and enjoy the inspiration as you travel around Australia and New Zealand looking at all the amazing creations.
My project has been swirling around in my head for the past couple of weeks after my Mum made a great banner card as a display for Christmas. She CASEd Julie Kettlewell’s Christmas Concertina card. Thanks to Julie for her youtube video – I used this as the starting point for my measurements.
As this idea grew in my mind, I decided I wanted it to be more of a display keepsake than a one off card – and I had the perfect little lady to make it for, who turns 6 this month.
How perfect is the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite from the Occasions Catalogue for all things girly???
I overlayed vellum on top of the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP to create some additional texture. I thought about using all the same DSP for this design – but actually love the eclectic look of having the DSP sampler across the card. Besides – how would you choose just one of those gorgeous designs???
To finish it all off, I added lace trim from the So Detailed Thinlits – perfectly pretty!!!
Because of the fold pattern, the card easily folds into a little pocket and can be held closed with some pretty Very Vanilla Satin ribbon.
To make this Carousel Concertina Card, I cut several pieces of Sahara Sand cardstock:
- 2 of 10-1/4″ x 4″ (A)
- 1 of 10″ x 4″ (B)
- 2 of 3-5/8″ x 4″ (C)
The two larger pieces (A) were scored in landscape (long edge) at 2-1/2″. 5″, 7-1/2″ & 10″.
Piece B was scored in landscape at 2-1/2″. 5″, 7-1/2″ & 10″.
These 3 pieces were then joined to create one large concertina piece with piece A (1/4″ tab to the left), then piece B overlapping on top and then piece A (1/4″ tab to the right) with the left edge under piece B. You need to adhere the pieces together with glue or tape – crossing over a whole panel at each edge of piece B. Julie’s video does a great job of showing this!
To finish the edges cut the floral So Detailed thinlit from each of the C size cardstock pieces. You’ll need to trim the edges (the die is bigger than needed) to get the finished shape. Cut off the ragged edges into rounded flower petals.
Adhere the edge created by the die to the tab at the left & right edge of your concertina card.
Since this is home decor and not a greeting card, I needed to make a coordinating birthday card for the birthday girl.
I drew elements from the concertina card including the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP, gold embossing & carousel horsey.
The finishing touches for the card were a birthday sentiment and a trio of sequins!
What a perfect gift set!!! I can myself making a few of these for all the birthday princesses we have throughout the year.
Next stop on the Occasions & SAB 2017 ESAD Blog Hop is my stamping buddy – Nicole Wilson, who is also here on the west coast. Have fun for a bit longer here in sunny WA!
Thanks for sharing in the excitement of the new catalogue with me! At the bottom of this post there’s a full list of participants (just in case of any broken links) and a product link up in case you know any little princesses who *need* some cupcakes & carousels in their life!
