Stampin’ Up! Kits – So Much Happy!

I was using my collection of Stampin’ Up! kits to make some customer thank you cards and fell in love all over again!

Stampin' Up! Kits | kelly kent

They are amazingly quality, with high-end design and offer options for beginner & experience crafters.

For the beginner – look for all-inclusive kits and follow the instructions to create beautiful cards with only extra adhesive required.

For the experienced crafter – add in supplies from your craft stash to change up the designs & add your own personal touch.

Each new catalogue release brings new kit options.

There are three kits available in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue plus a planner.

Here’s two of the card kits….

Elf in A Box

Earlier in the year I had a custom order for a card to be sent overseas. And I realised I hadn’t shared it with you!

It’s the perfect Christmas Eve creation to share – full of joy & fun!

It needed to be something that could sit up & be displayed on the mantle, but could be posted flat – a card in a box was the perfect fold.

Elf in a Box | kelly kent

I really like Di Barnes’ tutorial & measurements for making a card in a box.  Click here visit her blog.

I wanted to make the card look like a present filled with presents!

Here it is folded flat…

Elf in a Box | kelly kent

And a closer view of the elf on the inside.  I masked out the Happy Holidays sentiment & replaced it with a bow!

Elf in a Box | kelly kent

I have loved using the Festive Phrases stamp set!  It’s retiring from the Holiday Catalogue and is available in the online store at a 15% discount for clear-mount and 20% discount for wood-mount.  The DSP for this card – Christmas Around the World – is also on the retirement list.

The Labels to Love stamp  set (sentiment on the card), Everyday Label Punch & Ready for Christmas stamp set (presents on the card) are all on the carryover list.  See the full list here.

Make sure to get any of your favourite Holiday Catalogue products by 2nd Jan 2018.  Shop 24-7 including Christmas Day in my online store.  Click here to browse.

Hopefully all your Christmas preparation is under control and you are spending today relaxing!  The Miss Papercrafts are I are constructing a gingerbread house – I think I prepare to work with paper!!!

Just Add Ink #391 | Choose Two

Hello! And thanks for joining me for my last design team committment of 2017.

I’ve loved every post I’ve shared this year acros all my design team involvement including Just Add Ink, CASEing the Catty, Stamp Review Crew, Colour INKspiration & Stamping Sunday.

Design team cards – and all challenge entries – bring out the best in my creativity.  I’m terrible with a blank slate for creating, but give me a starting point and I’m away & running!!!

Today’s challenge from Just Add Ink was exactly like that.  After so many Christmas card designs during 2017, starting from way back in February, I’ve been excited about having my Occasions Catalogue pre-order to play with for some variety.

But then came this challenge and the Christmas creativity was sparked again!!!

Image may contain: text

You’ll see from the design team cards on the Just Add Ink blog, your design doesn’t have to be Christmas themed.  The choose two element of this fun challenge means you can have twine & tags for a birthday project, or even trees & twine of a non-Christmas theme.

I have gone down the Christmas road with Twine & Trees….

Just Add Ink #391 Choose Two | kelly kent

It’s a shame I don’t have a ‘press here for smell’ button – I scented the ribbon with a holiday blend of essential oils!

Just Add Ink #391 Choose Two | kelly kent

I’d love to send this card to someone who visits my blog (anywhere in the world is fine!).  Leave a comment on my blog with your favourite thing about Christmas.  I’ll pick a recipient on Christmas Eve and pop it in the post next week.  It won’t arrive in time for Christmas – but it’s never the wrong time to get happy mail!!!

Merry Christmas, hope your final days of preparation are stress-free and wonderful!

If you’ve done all your shopping, wrapped all your presents and find yourself with some free time at the craft table, please join us over the the Just Add Ink blog and upload your twine-trees-tags creation!

Paper Adventures Christmas

Earlier in the month, the Paper Adventures team celebrated Christmas.

I forgot to get a team photo (I’m terrible at capturing moments – too busy enjoying them!), but here’s me with our littlest Adventurer…

Paper Adventures Christmas Party 2017

There was food, presents and of course stamping!

I organised a few festive games.  One of them was blindfolded stamping!

Paper Adventures Christmas Party 2017

Here’s how it worked…

I provided a box with stamp sets, blocks, ink pads, card bases, DSP, whisper white, ribbon & punches. Only one of each type of item was allowed at any time. Everyone formed teams of 2, with one person blindfolded and one person not. The ‘seeing’ person was able to get items, pass them to the ‘blind’ person, do any cutting required and give verbal instructions. The ‘blind’ person had to do everything else – stamping, sticking, punching, tie bows, etc
We set a 15 minute time limit and at the there was a parade and a winning card was chosen.

Here’s the teams in action…

Congratulations to Coriana & Kristel for their winning creation!

Paper Adventures Christmas Party 2017

For our presents we swapped Secret Santa gifts filled with…Stampin’ Up!  That’s what everyone wants for Christmas – yes?!

I got this amazing stamp set from the upcoming Occasions 2018 Catalogue.

Paper Adventures Christmas Party 2017

I can’t wait to ink up in the new year!  It will be perfect for team cards!

Of course there were gifts from me too (I love giving gifts any time of the year but Christmas is perfect for sharing the love!).

Each team member got a personalised Paper Adventures bag…

Paper Adventures Christmas Party 2017

And a card…

Paper Adventures Christmas Card | kelly kent

As I was making the card I loved how it represented me & my style of 2017 – non-traditional colours, gold & white embossing, vellum, snowflakes…

Paper Adventures Christmas Card | kelly kent

And of course a message that shares how much my team means to me…

Paper Adventures Christmas Card | kelly kent

I wonder what 2018 will bring for new favourites & styling.

There’s so much more fun to be had for our Paper Adventures team in 2018.

Stamp Review Crew | Christmas Quilt

It’s that time of year when it’s the last of everything for 2017!

This is the last blog hop the Stamp Review Crew will do for 2017.  A big thanks to Tanya Boser for all her hard work coordinating the hops – it’s a pleasure to be involved with a talented group of stampers!

The theme for today is the Christmas Quilt stamp set – and coordinating Quilt Builder Framelits.

I thought this bundle would be around forever – but sadly it made its way to the retirement list.  If you have it on your wishlist, you’ll need to buy it soon.  Once 2nd January comes around, these items will no longer be available (or earlier if stocks sell out!).

I have been making, packaging, wrapping and giving lots of gifts this festive season.  Between coaches, teachers, friends & family, there’s lots of opportunities to share some handmade love in Australia!!!

I can wrap a box like a pro.  One of my jobs while I was at university was selling fragrance in a department store – so I spent hours wrapping gift boxes and boxes of perfume for lucky ladies & men!

Give me a box to wrap any day!  But irregular shapes are not my thing!!!  So if it’s not a box, it’s going in a gift bag.  Easy, fun & pretty – ticks all the boxes!

And it also provides opportunities for coordinating cards.  As usual, Stampin’ Up! are right on trend with packaging options this Christmas.

Here’s two cards that were inspired by a gift bag – using the Christmas Quilt stamp set!

First up is a Christmas theme…

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

This one was based on a wine bottle bag featuring brightly coloured Christmas trees.

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

I used the quilted triangle stamp to recreate the cute little Christmas trees and the trunk using the stitching!

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

The second card is a thank you card for Miss Papercraft’s teacher…

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

I used the diamond pieces to recreate the geometric pattern on the bag!

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

You could use the dies to cut these out, but I just quickly snipped them with my paper scissors.

The colours are Dapper Denim, Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist & Pool Party.

Stamp Review Crew Christmas Quilt | kelly kent

I had so much fun playing with the shapes and making my creations nothing to do with quilting!!!  There’s so many ways to use our stamping supplies.

I know you’re going to see lots of great quilted creations if you keep hopping.

Visit Dawn Tidd in the US next for her great ideas.

Thank you for your support in 2017!

See you next year – our first Stamp Review Crew hop goes live on 1st January 2018!

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop | Picture Perfect Birthday

Hello!  The Stamping Sunday Design Team would usually hop together on the fourth Sunday of the month, but that’s Christmas Eve, so we’ve brought it forward a week – hopefully you don’t mind!!

Thanks to Sara Levin for all her wonderful work coordinating the Stamping Sunday blog hops in 2017.  What a pleasure to hop with such a talented group of stampers!

The theme for this hop is the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set & coordinating products from the suite.  This range will be available in the upcoming Occasions catalogue!  Get ready for some sensational sneak peeks!

To see a list of everyone joining in this week’s hop, including our marvellous guest designer – Brian King – click on the cute blue frog.

My first project for today is a card for my brother who turns 32 next week.  How convenient that the gorgeous Picture Perfect Party DSP features balloons in the shape of a ‘3’ & a ‘2’.

Picture Perfect Birthday | kelly kent

One side of the DSP is photographic images – like the balloons!  And other side is printed patterns like the stripes and Lemon Lime Twist pattern.

Picture Perfect Birthday | kelly kent

I’m probably never likely to add ‘celebrate the good stuff’ to a card, so I cut this sentiment up to have ‘celebrate’ on its own.  This way it’ll get lots of use!

Picture Perfect Birthday | kelly kent

The photo DSP adds such a realistic element to your projects.  Wait til you see it in person – it has a definite wow factor!

Although this set is very clearly birthday themed, the second project I’m sharing with you is actually for Christmas!  I always like to be able to find the alternative uses in my Stampin’ Up! products.

The gift bow is fantastic for all gift giving occasions – including on this Christmas gift card holder.

Stamping Sunday Picture Perfect Birthday (Christmas) | kelly kent

This gift card hold is simple to create.  Cut a piece of cardstock to 9-1/4″ x 3″ and score at 3-1/2″ & 7-1/2″.  Add a strip of DSP to the inside (9″ x 2-3/4″).  Decorate the front with coordinating cardstock & DSP (1″ & 3/4″ wide) and the cute bow from Picture Perfect Birthday.  The sentiment is perfect for this card!

Stamping Sunday Picture Perfect Birthday (Christmas) | kelly kent

You don’t have to add a Bunnings gift card to the middle – but the colour combination works well!!!

I also used the bow as a ‘star’ on the top of my Christmas tree for the card!

Thanks for hopping with us today!

To see more projects, please keep hopping.  Next up on the list is Brian King who has kindly agreed to share his talents with us today.  You’re going to love what he’s made!

Click on the blue frog for the full line-up.

Merry Christmas to you & your family from the Stamping Sunday Design Team!  We’ll be back in 2018 with more Occasions Catalogue projects!

If you live in Australian and I can help you with a copy of the Occasions catalogue, please let me know!

Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Sketch

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Well, hello December!!!

Our Paper Adventures team has been blogging each month since May – I’m so proud of all the wonderful projects we’ve shared!!!

This month we welcome my beautiful friend Jackie Aitken as a guest designer.  Jackie is a demo who lives in Perth, Western Australia (the town where I grew up) and as well as being so lovely, her designs are amazing!!!  Thanks to Jackie and all my stamping friends that have joined us in 2017 as guest designers.

For December’s hop, I’ve designed a sketch and asked everyone to create a project using this as inspiration.

Paper Adventures December 2017 Blog Hop | kelly kent

Both of my projects tonight contain sneak peeks of what you can expect when the Occasions 2018 & Sale-A-Bration catalogues go live on 3rd January.  So many lovely, pretty & funky new products to own!!!  And some of them are free – yes {FREE} with qualifying purchases!

The first card I am sharing with you tonight is a {VERY} literal use of the sketch.

Party Pandas | kelly kent

New DSP – Tutti Fruitti – where the panels are (the reverse sides are so versatile!), banner across the middle, solid cardstock centre and a sentiment!

Party Pandas | kelly kent

I just can’t get enough of the cute little panda!!!  He’s a free choice during Sale-A-Bration. Spend $90 from 3rd Jan 2018 – 31st March 2018 and you can take him & his friends home!!!

How do I own him now?  #demoperks #joinourPaperAdventuresteam

The second card is a more liberal use of the sketch.

I’ve swapped the panels for soda bottles, the sentiment is in the circle on the middle bottle and the banner is behind the bottles.

Bubble & Fizz | kelly kent

These brightly coloured bottles are from the Bubble & Fizz DSP – another free choice during Sale-A-Bration!  Other coordinating products in this suite are the Bubble Over stamp set, Bottles & Bubbles Framelits and Glitter Epoxy Shapes.

Psssttt…. the framelits cut out the DSP – OMG!

Bubble & Fizz | kelly kent

Are you a little challenged when it comes to lining things up?

Here’s my tips for the panda panel card:

  • Cut your DSP to the size you normally would then trim about 1/4″ off the end.
  • Work out how big each panel needs to be by dividing the length by the DSP by the # panels.  Although I work in inches for cardmaking, the decimal system makes division so much easier!!!.  The panda card has DSP that’s 9.8cm x 13cm, cut into 4.3cm (x9.8cm)  panels
  • Test out that the panel size works – it’s too late once you’ve started sticking!!!
  • When you’ve got the measurement, adhere your end 2 panels first, then the middle one.  This allows you to centre the middle panel with equal distance between the edge ones.  Left to right rarely works out – no matter how hard you try!!

Lining up panels | kelly kent

For the soda card:

  • Adhere the middle bottle first (use a ruler if you’re not so good at judging middle!)
  • Then add the items either side!

Lining up trios | kelly kent

Please keep hopping for more great ideas.  Next up is one of our team who is joining in for the first time!  She’s extremely talented, so I’m excited she’s decided to share with you!

Pop over to Joanne Gaff via Facebook to see her take on the sketch.

Thanks for hopping with us today!

If you see any products along the way, everyone on this hop is an Australian demonstrator and can help you with your order.  My online shop is here: http://bit.ly/shopSUwithkellykent

December Birthdays Blog Hop

I am excited about Christmas and trying my hardest to be ready, but so many beautiful people I know are born between November and February!!!  It’s party central around here!

So, when the lovely Natalie Lapakko invited me to be part of the December Birthdays blog hop, it seemed perfect for my current creative needs!!!

You are visiting with Kelly Kent in Bunbury, Western Australia, on this international journey.  Hello!!!

The line-up for this hop is crazy talented, so make sure you keep hopping until you get back to where you started so you don’t miss a single project!

I said there’s lots of birthdays happening here…..yes….?

Which means I have a few things to share!  There’s a little something from all the catalogues.

Let’s start with a masculine cowboy card from the Annual Catalogue…

Cowboy Birthday | kelly kent

I love the variety within the pages of the Stampin’ Up! catalogue!  Can I make a cowboy card for a 40th birthday…. yes I can!!!

Cowboy Birthday | kelly kent

Complete with a lasso rope embellishment!  And of course, cowboy boots!!!

Cowboy Birthday | kelly kent

The Woodgrain embossing folder is sadly retired, but if you don’t own it, you could add in more of the gorgeous Wood Textures DSP.

My next share is using the Cat Punch from the Holiday Catalogue.

I was so excited to find out that this cute kitty is on the 2017 Holiday Catalogue Carryover List.  You can find all the details about carrying over and retiring Holiday Catalogue products here.

Birthday Cat | kelly kentHow striking in the black cat in pretty DSP!?

Birthday Cat | kelly kent

The stamp set is the much loved, but shamefully underused Paint Play stamp set from the Annual Catalogue.   You’ll find the Pick at Pattern DSP there too!

Birthday Cat | kelly kent

The final card I’m sharing tonight is a sneak peek from the upcoming Occasions 2018 catalogue….

Bird Banter | kelly kent

One of the new catalogue highlights is the amazing new DSP patterns – wow-oh-wow, they are divine!  The one you see here is the gorgeous Sweet Soiree Speciality paper with silver foiling on every sheet.

Bird Banter | kelly kent

Isn’t this design just the perfect budgerigar colour combination!!!

Bird Banter | kelly kent

And doesn’t he look sweet coloured with the Stampin’ Blends!!!

Blends would make an amazing December birthday present!!!

Or a just because present…..  I love them so much I’m planning on buying a second set for classes.  We’re going to be using these lots!!!

If you’re in Australia and know someone with a birthday that {NEEDS} a Stampin’ Up! gift voucher – get in touch with me!  I can help!!!

For more inspiration that lead to extra items to add to your never ending wishlist, including lots more new catalogue sneak peeks, keep hopping!!!

I’m delighted to be linking to the lady with the best organisational skills – and awesome design talents, Natalie Lapakko in the US!

Thanks for hopping with us, and to Natalie for having us!

If you know someone with a December birthday, make sure to give them a big happy birthday hug or send them a hug in a card.  I’m told the birthday love at this time of the year gets a big overshadowed by Christmas!!

If you’re into making New Years Resolutions – make it to send at least one handmade card by mail next year!  There is truly fewer things in life’s simple pleasures than retrieving an envelope of prettiness from the letterbox!!!
