CASEing the Catty #106 Favourite Hostess Set

It’s a full Sunday today, with another hop for you to enjoy!

Today at CASEing the Catty, it’s all about the hostess sets from the Annual Catalogue – pages 198 – 201 or Holiday Catalogue – page 3.

Images © Stampin' Up!

I’ve already CASEd the Holiday Catalogue for my CTC swaps – you can see my shrink reindeers here.

So, today I’m CASEing the Annual Catalogue, specially the layout from this beautiful card.

Images © Stampin' Up!

I thought this would make a perfect starting point for a card for the baby shower I attended today.

There’s was a ‘no pink’ brief – which I {TOTALLY} ignored!!!

I’m a pink lover and having had 2 girls – I know how hard it is to avoid pink for little girls – it’s everywhere!!!

The biggest Little Miss Papercraft’s favourite colour has always been yellow.  It’s so difficult to get yellow anything for girls!

In fairness, the pink was inspired by this beautiful bandana bib I bought as part of their baby shower gift – which matches our Sweet Sugarplum cardstock perfectly!

So, it’s actually not pink…

CASEing the Catty #106 - Favourite Hostess Set. Kelly Kent -

And when you add ink all that black, grey, silver & gold, it’s not really all that pink at all!!!

Really!!!  Hopefully they’ll love it and I won’t be the only rule-ignoring guest!

Next place to visit for this blog hop is the wonderful Judy.

ESAD Blog Hop – 2016 Holiday Catalogue Favourites

Good afternoon!!  Thanks for joining me for the ESAD 2016 Holiday Catalogue Favourite Products Blog Hop.

There’s just over a month left to shop this beautiful catalogue, so today the demonstrators from the ESAD Facebook group are going to remind you what you’ve forgotten from your wishlist!

I’m a little late to the Paisleys & Posies party (better than never hey!), but it arrived last week and I can see why everyone has fallen in love!

The stamps and dies are beautiful!!

They are sweet & floral, with a great variety of shapes.

Since the 2016 Holiday Catalogue has lots of Christmas inspiration – and we’re at that time of the year, for my blog hop project, I’ve used the Paisleys dies and Paisley & Posies stamps to create a Christmas tree!

ESAD 2016 Holiday Catalogue Favourites Blog Hop. Paisleys & Posies Christmas. Kelly Kent -

I even decorated the inside using one of the cute sentiments from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set and matched it with the Christmas sentiment from the My Hero set.

How well do those 2 sayings pair together???

While I was playing with my new favourite bundle, I thought a little treat box would look perfect along side this card!

ESAD 2016 Holiday Catalogue Favourites Blog Hop. Paisleys & Posies Christmas. Kelly Kent -

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes (you can find them in the Annual Catalogue) are perfect for Christmas gift packaging.  I’ll be making a few of these this season!

And the dies from the Paisleys set make it super quick & cute to dress it up.

Did you spy some of my other Holiday Catalogue favourites in my projects?

I {LOVE} the gold twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack.  I’m super hopeful that this will make it to the 2017 Annual Catalogue as a stand alone item.  Pretty please Stampin’ Up???

You will also have spotted the Warmth & Cheer DSP and washi tape.  The colours are great for a traditional Christmas theme.

Just Add Ink #338 – Paintbrush Photo Inspiration

Just Add Ink Design Team

Hello & welcome to another week at Just Add Ink!

For challenge #338, it’s a photo inspiration chosen by Jan.

Love this artsy paintbrush picture???

Just Add Ink #338 - Photo Inspiration

There are so many places it could take you!

Colours, themes, shapes, elements!

You can see what the Just Add Ink Design Team came up with by visiting the main blog.

I tend to be quite a literal thinker, so when I saw the paintbrushes, that got me thinking about paint… and then paint splatters.

So, going with the blue, red & purple paint pictured (yep, literal!), and the gold from the brush handles, I created this one-layer card using the Perpetual Calendar stamp set.

Just Add Ink #338 - Paintbrush Photo Inspiration. Kelly Kent -

I love one-layer cards with a masked centre to create the illusion of layers.

Once I’d made this card – it got me thinking… what other cards could I quickly whip up using the same technique, but other ‘splatters’ and sentiments???

How about stars?

Just Add Ink #338 - Paintbrush Photo Inspiration. Kelly Kent -

Or butterflies?

Just Add Ink #338 - Paintbrush Photo Inspiration. Kelly Kent -

I could have kept going all night using the other splatters and a trio of pretty colours.

Make your own one-layered card using masking…

First, cut a shape from photocopy paper (ie, an oval, circle, butterfly) and stick it to the middle of your card front with temporary adhesive.

Stamp around the outside edge of the copy paper.  For these cards, I went all the way to the edge, creating a ‘background’.

Remove your copy paper and stamp / emboss a sentiment in the middle.

The sentiments in these cards come from the Watercolor Words stamp set- the font is lovely and the sentiments are a great size!

If the photo inspiration gets your creativity going, please join us for the weekly challenge.

Joyful Christmas

Popping in quickly today to share one of the cards we made at Tuesday’s class.

The ladies were lovely in humouring my love of non-traditional Christmas cards!!

We made this ‘sweet’ pink & silver card, using the Wonderful Year stamp set.

You could make a rainbow of these cards!  If you’ve still got cards to make, it’s a great way to craft in bulk!

What do you think a yellow Christmas card would look like???

Stamp Review Crew – Picture Perfect

It’s been a while between Stamp Review Crew hops for me, so I’m excited to be back in the mix again today!!

Let me take you around the world for a “Picture Perfect” blog hop.  The hop aims to travel in a circular fashion, but if you get lost along the way, just click on the banner above to take you to the main SRC page.

That’s right, today it’s projects feature the Picture Perfect photopolymer stamp set.

This cute set features 3 multi-step designs including a rose (with leaves), hummingbird & starfish, plus great sentiments for all occasions.

I decided to create tags to use as features on my card fronts – with no-so-perfect watercolour stamping.

As you’ll see on the hop, the 2, 3 or 4 step stamping in these designs create beautiful 3D images that leap off the page.

I wanted to go a little whimsical, so I stamped each layer and then immediately washed over with an aquapainter to make it run.

Here’s the starfish (with Serene Scenery DSP)…

And the rose…

And my favourite – the hummingbird!

There’s so much you can do with this set!

I can’t wait to see what the crew came up with, starting with Holly Krautkremer.

CASEing the Catty #105 Fancy Frost

Thanks for joining us today for our Sunday CASEing the Catty #105 blog hop.

Follow us around the South Pacific as we CASE projects inspired by the Fancy Frost section of the Holiday Catalogue.

Images © Stampin' Up!

For me this week, it was the beautiful rosettes in the background of the photo above that started my creative process.

It’s been so long since I made paper rosettes – and what fun I had!!!

My first card uses the rough layout of the card at the right side of the photo – with a beautiful pink rosette as the centrepiece.

CASEing the Catty #105 - Fancy Frost. Kelly Kent -

I love the white on white effect that the Fancy Frost DSP has when layered with Whisper White cardstock.

My second card (because one rosette is never enough!) uses the layout from the card at the top left of this photo as a guide…

Images © Stampin' Up!

To create this card…

CASEing the Catty #105 - Fancy Frost. Kelly Kent -

I used a tighter coil for this rosette which I got by scoring at closer intervals (1/4″).  The starting cardstock size as 1-1/4″ x 11-3/4″ (or approx the length of an A4 page).

CASEing the Catty #105 - Fancy Frost. Kelly Kent -

The pink rosette is scored at 1/2″ intervals, with a starting cardstock size of 1-1/2″ x 11-3/4″

CASEing the Catty #105 - Fancy Frost. Kelly Kent -

You can easily change the finished look of your rosette by adjusting the starting size of your paper / cardstock and the intervals you score at.

Once scored & mountain/valley folded (ups & downs), to create your rosette, adhere at the short end to form a circle and then pull one edge of the circle inwards until it gathers at the central point and your rosette sits flat.

I used hot glue to hold it all in shape – making sure to work on my Silicone Craft Mat.  If you don’t have one of these, you *need* one!!!

I’m pretty sure these aren’t the posting variety of cards – imagine what kind of artistic shape they’d have after receiving Australia Post’s not-so-delicate treatment!!!

Please join us in the challenge this week by adding your catalogue inspired Fancy Frost project here.

Then, continue the hop by going forwards to see the delights made by Elizabeth, or backwards to see what the fabulous Rachel made!

Just Add Ink #337 – Doily & DSP

Just Add Ink Design Team

When we were attending OnStage, Shelli & Sara (founder & CEO) mentioned a few times that their favourite Stampin’ Up! products are stamps.

While I do love the SU! range of stamps, my favourite (if I had to choose just one) is designer paper!

I’m a sucker for pretty paper and still have some of my favourites from years gone by that I refuse to part with (or use the very last little bits of!).

So, when this week’s Just Add Ink #337 was a ‘choose two’ challenge, I knew DSP would be one of mine.

Just Add Ink #337 - Doily, Diecut or DSP

Then, to choose the other!!  I do also love the range of diecuts, but for a different spin, I decided to add a doily.

Deciding on those 2 would be the hard part – right?  Wrong! How does a mumma of so much DSP choose which one makes it to the card???

In the end I hunted for a design from the 2016-17 Annual Catalogue selection which hadn’t seen much love yet – and ended up with the Moroccan Designer Series Paper.

I couldn’t decided on a layout, so I created both – and I’m leaving it to you to decide which one looks best!

Just Add Ink #337 - Doily & DSP. Kelly Kent -

Do we prefer the DSP straight….

Just Add Ink #337 - Doily & DSP. Kelly Kent -

Or on a diagonal???

Just Add Ink #337 - Doily & DSP. Kelly Kent -

Traditionally, I’m a straight girl myself – but sometimes it’s good to switch it up!!!

How much does the DSP “pop” with Bermuda Bay as the card front colour?

Which 2 of the options would you choose?  Join us for the challenge – I’d love to see what you create!

This is how I Stamp-A-Stack – Christmas 2016

On Saturday, I hosted 8 lovely ladies for a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack.

What is a Stamp-A-Stack?  Typically, it’s a chance to make cards in bulk.  The card designs are a little simpler, but you walk away with more.

For this reason, they are perfect for Christmas where people often send cards in larger numbers.

When planning my S-A-S, I decided we were going to make 12 cards – 4 each of 3 designs.

The ad went out, and not only did I fill the class I’d advertised, but I filled another one as well!!!

Now, despite knowing that the cards needed to be stripped back a little so we could get through them in the class time, I’m not so good at simple and just love to spoil my class participants with interesting cards.

So, even though I promised 4 cards of 3 designs, I actually ended up making 2 variations of each design so we actually had 2 each of 6 designs in the end.

So, here’s what I ended up thinking of as my the deluxe S-A-S of 2016!!!

Card 1 – a variation of my shrink reindeer CTC swap from OnStage

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 2 – a silver & purple variation of the card above!

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 3 – peekaboo tree card using Build A Birthday

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 4 – peekaboo tree card using Warmth & Cheer washi tape

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 5 – stitched card using Letters for You stamps

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

Card 6 – stitched card using Merry Tags bauble & Large Letters

Christmas 2016 Stamp-A-Stack. Kelly Kent -

The ladies loved the cards and were just fantastic at getting through all my ‘deluxe’ designs within the class time!

I helped them a little by doing some of the elements before the class (like the cute little reindeers) so there wasn’t too much wait time.

Do you have a favourite from the stack of cards?  I think mine is one of the stitched letter cards – maybe the JOY?!

I know they’ll all come in handy when it’s time to start sending cards.  How’s your stash looking?

If you need more supplies, don’t forget my November promotion.  All online orders using the host code TGEH7KV6 during November will go in the draw for $100 of Stampin’ Up! products.

Happy shopping!
