Hello! And welcome to the first of 3 blog hops I’m participating in over the next 17 hours – you’re in for a treat!
First up is the ESAD hop which is featuring projects from 25 South Pacific Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.
You’ll hop back & forwards between Australia and New Zealand to sample the delights of the 2016 Holiday Catalogue.
If you missed the release on Thursday, or saw it and are crazy excited like us, then make sure to visit all the blogs – the creativity is wonderful!
Blog hops go in a big circle. So, if you’ve hopped from Cathy in our national capital (Canberra) – thanks for visiting me in Bunbury, Western Australia. Just started or still going? Make sure to visit Leonie next, back on the east coast (Sydney).
Now, for my project. I’m sharing a fancy fold card using one of my favourite bundles from the new catalogue – Star of Light stamp set & Starlight Thinlits.
I’ve already seen so many lovely cards on Pinterest using this bundle (buy both the stamp set & thinlits and save 10%).
Want to pin my Christmas Trinket Easel Card? Click here.
It’s surprisingly easy to make (see full instructions below) & lots of wow.
When flat, it’s a pretty card with beautiful colours and that lovely star…
When open & in easel layout, the free-hanging ornament is stunning.
These ornaments come in a set of 24 (8 each of 3 designs).
I’ve used the cute little silver bell from the Christmas Trinkets Embellishments pack, but can’t wait to use the holly & gingerbread men too!
I’ve paired it with a new DSP from the catalogue – Petals & Paisleys Specialty – which is not actually a Christmas themed paper, but works so well with these colours! And makes it a super versatile investment!
Easel cards make great Christmas cards because they look amazing displayed on a mantlepiece (for the traditional) or side table (for everyone else!).
Make your own Christmas Trinket Easel Card…
*** Measurements are in inches and suit Australian A4 cardstock.
If anyone has adaptations for US cardstock, I’d be happy to share.
*** Tutorial designed to go with pictures below
CARD FRONT
- Start with a piece of cardstock that is half A4 (longways) – 4-1/8″ x 11-5/8″ {Pool Party}
- Score at a quarter of the way (2-15/16″) and half way (5-7/8″) – fold & crease
- Mark the middle point along the fold and with your card front folded, punch a 1″ circle – roughly in the middle of the card front, along the fold
- Adhere a decorative panel to the bottom of the card front – I used Very Vanilla embossed with Petal Burst – 3-7/8″ x 2-13/16″
- Turn to the reverse side of the card front and re-punch the circle you made so the decorative panel doesn’t show through
- Stamp the swirl from Star of Light in Pool Party across the top panel of the card front and the Merry Christmas sentiment in Basic Gray Archival ink.
STAR CENTRE
- Cut two solid stars from Mint Macaron cardstock (Starlight Framelits)
- Cut one large decorative star from Silver Foil cardstock (I use an adhesive backing sheet to make the sticking process easier)
- Adhere the silver foil star to one of the Mint Macaron stars
- Using the 3/4″ circle punch, cut a circle from the middle
- Line up both Mint Macaron stars and using the 3/4″ punch again, cut the middle from the second MM star in the same place
- Using the 1/8″ handheld punch, punch a little hole above the circle on the Mint Macaron/Silver star combination
- Thread twine (I used metallic gold) through your chosen Christmas Trinket, and then through the little hole so that your trinket hangs in the middle of the star
- Adhere the string to the back of the star (I used Fast Fuse) and cover with the second MM star
- Adhere the bottom portion of the star to the card front so that the two side points line up with the card front crease line
CARD INNER
- Adhere a piece of DSP to the inside of the card – I used Petals & Paisley – 3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″
- Stamp the ‘May your season be peaceful…” sentiment in Basic Gray Archival ink on Very Vanilla cardstock
- Cut using the largest label from the Tags & Labels Framelits
- Adhere to a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock (2-1/8″ x 2-5/8″) and place rhinestones in each corner
- Adhere to the DSP (towards the bottom so it doesn’t show through the circle when the card is closed) with Stampin’ Dimensionals
Optional: add a piece of Very Vanilla to the back of the card as a writing panel (3-7/8″ x 5-5/8″)
