Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop. Did you come via the fabulous talents of Carolina Evans??? If you didn’t and you’re just starting here – make sure you keeping clicking on the ‘next blog’ button and see every blog until you get to her. That will mean you’ve finished the loop. If you have time to leave some comments along the way, we’d love to hear from you.
Today we’re sharing projects made with items from the 2016 retirement list. It’s always sad to see favourites disappear from the catalogue. But, as they say – “out with the old and in with the new”. If you see anything you like while on the blog hop, be sure to contact your demonstrator to place an order as these items are only available until 31st May (or while stocks last).
Now, let’s talk punches! Punch art is one of my favourite cardmaking activites and I love the builder punches for the creativity their shapes give me. So, imagine my surprise when I saw that two of my favourite builder punches were on the retirement list!
The Cupcake Builder punch & the Bird Builder punch will no longer be available once the new catalogue starts in June. I’m a little placated knowing that we are getting a couple of new builder punches including a super cute fox punch – woo hoo – I can’t wait to see what I can do with that!!! (PS, I actually used both the bird & cupcake punches to create a fox for a card once!).
There’s 23 (or 25 if you count each of the punches in the Itty Bitty Accent Pack – another huge loss!) punches on the retirement list.
Some have already sold out! There’s up to 60% off the punches still left.

For my blog hop project, I made this cute trellis card which uses the soon-to-be retired Chevron Border Punch. You’ll also spy the Bird Builder punch, Cupcake Builder punch, Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack and Label Bracket punch – can you spot them all?
To make your own trellis, cut two strips of cardstock 6-1/4″ x 1-1/4″. Cut along the full length of each strip with the Chevron Border Punch. Rotate one 180 degrees and interlock the points of each strip to form a trellis pattern. Once I had it in place, I put double sided tape diagonally along the back of each trellis section to hold them together. I then adhered them to my card front and trimmed the excess ends.
Want to make your own cute kitty cat punch art?
Here’s the breakdown:
Ears: wing from Bird Builder
Body: 1-3/4″ & 1″ circles
Stripes: candle from Cupcake Builder cut in half
Eyes: middle circle from Owl Builder & circle from Cupcake Builder
Nose: cherry from Cupcake Builder
Face: 1/2″ circle
Feet: 1/2″ circle
Tail: leaf from Bird Builder (excess leaf tips snipped)
Mat: bottom of cake top (cloud) from Cupcake Builder
The selection of punches are not the only retired product on my card. I’ve also included the outgoing 2014-2016 In Colors. Every year a new set of “In Colors” arrives, which means a set retires. I’m going to miss these colours. I’ve really enjoyed them!
And while we’re talking about retiring prodcuts and punch art…
My favourite adhesive for punch art – 2-way glue pen – is on the way out! What am I going to do????
Thank you for joining me for the blog hop. The next stop is Cathy Pinchbeck (Stampin’ Cat) who is participating in her very first ESAD blog hop – and I’m so glad she did!
