Time to say Goodbye to a Good Friend!

Just a quick reminder – today is your last chance to buy anything you really loved from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue or 2016 Occasions catalogue that is not carrying over to the new annual catalogue.

For a quick ‘flick’ through what’s still available on the retirement list, head to the “Retiring Products” section of the online store.

There’s still time to sneak in one last order before all the new things get uploaded to the website!!!  From tomorrow, you’ll be able to view & order from the new catalogue.

I really loved (and will be sad to see them go) the products from the Going Places suites.

Retiring Soon: Going Global stamp set, Going Places DSP & World Traveler embossing folder. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

FEATURING: Going Global stamp set, Happiest Birthday Everyone hostess stamp set, Going Places DSP & World Traveler embossing folder.

If you’ve thought of, been tempted by or seen something you must have, you can place an order by sending me an email or visiting my online store.  The hostess code to apply for orders under $250 is CUSYWJ3B.

The cut off for all retiring products is 10pm WA time Tuesday 31st May 2016.  The system will be down for 3 hours (10pm-1am WA time, midnight – 3am EST) while they update the online store.  And then from 3am Wed 1st June 2016 it’s all about the new products!!!

Many thanks to all my wonderful customers and blog followers for your support & friendship during the 2015-2016.  It’s been an incredibe year for me and I can’t wait to see what the next 12 months brings!!!

The standout winner from the new catalogue was the 2016-2018 In Colors.   The new colours were an instant hit with everyone and the In Color Classic Stamp Pads were the most popular item of the day.

There’s always more paper on the horizon… 2016 Annual Catalogue DSP Paper Share

Hello! Today I’ve got 2 things to share you with you.

The first is a cute card layout doing the rounds at the moment featuring one of my favourite retiring DSPs.

This is a Double Z Pop Out Card.  I first saw them on Lou’s blog but this particular card was inspired by Carol Lovenstein’s design.

Double Z Pop Out Card - English Card DSP & Birthday Blooms stamp set. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

I just love the English Garden DSP.  Sadly I missed stocking up when it went onto the retirement list.  Lucky for me there’s lots of new favourites in the new catalogue which is just 1 week from being available to everyone!!! *happy skip*

Which brings me to the second thing to share – my DSP paper share available from 1st June 2016.

Although it’s always sad for a paper lover {hoarder} like me to say goodbye to so many papers, the new papers are just beautiful – wait until you see them!!!

2016 DSP Paper Share Kelly Kent text version V2

That’s a lot of paper!!!  The paper share is $45 this time around, which will get you 114 sheets of stunning 6″ x 6″ patterned paper plus a bonus set of In Color DSP.

It’s open to all Australian residents (including demonstrators). Postage can be arranged for those of you who aren’t close enough for pick up {postage estimate is $8.25 in a tracked satchel}.

Paper shares are a great way to try all the new pretty papers and have a bit of everything for all the different types of products you want to make – but at a fraction of the cost.  Trust me – it’s handy to have different colours and types of paper in your collection.

Once you’ve worked out what your favourites are, you’ll be able to buy full packs of those!!!

And by popular demand I will also be offering a ribbon share for the new & beautiful 3/8″ (1cm) Ruched Ribbon.  2.2m of each of the 5 new In Colors for $18.  {Postage estimate is $2.50 as a large letter}.

2016 Ruched Ribbon Share - Kelly Kent, mypapercraftjourney.com.

I’ll be placing the first paper share order on the week of 1st June, so email me now to put your name on the list.

Note: if you read this blog post when it was first uploaded, you might have a slightly different version of the paper share.  The edited version has the correct amounts of each paper in the share and slightly updated price point.  Sorry for any confusion! Kelly x

Timeout Tuesday – GPD#037

It’s Tuesday again and after a busy couple of weeks, I’ve been lucky enough to find some quiet craft moments today!

It’s been a productive day – ticking quite a few things off the craft list including this lovely colour challenge over at Global Design Project.

I love Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe together and went with this duo as my main focus with just a touch of Island Indigo for the sentiment.

GDP#037 - Birthday Blooms colour challenge - Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe & Island Indigo. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

As always, the simplest cards with the most beautiful of DSPs is the perfect combination!

I’ve being trying to put together something for the Just Add Ink challenge this week too but it contains 4 different blue tones – and I just can’t do it!!!  Do you ever have a craft block???

You can check out the amazing JAI design team inspiration here.  They did better than anything I could create! Looking forward to playing along with JAI next week. Kelly x

Birthday Week on Rewind

#imbringingbirthdaysback

When one has a birthday week – it’s simply amazing.  My birthday week started the Thursday before my birthday with a family dinner, then a morning tea at work on Friday, my #imbringingbirthdaysback class on Saturday, my actual birthday on Sunday, another family dinner on Tuesday and a celebration with friends on Thursday.

And between all that joy was so many beautiful birthday cards.  I got a lovely mix of beautiful handmade and perfectly selected store bought.

I’m one lucky girl!!!

So, after all the hype of a wonderful birthday week has died down, I’m stopping by to share the handmade goodness that I was blessed with!  Thank you to everyone who took the time to make & send/give me a piece of happiness.  It was such a powerful reminder about how a simple creation of paper, ink & glitz can bring so many smiles.

In no particular order but thanks to everyone!  Kelly xxx

Wild About Flowers – Swap Inspired Cards

Do you remember the card I made for Kylie Bertucci’s 1:1 swap?

Picture Perfect Raised Frame Card for Kylie Bertucci's 1:1 swap. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

This is the gorgeous card I received in return from Heidi Bell. You can see more of her creations on her Facebook page – Crafting Around Town.

Wild About Flowers card - created by Heidi Bell.

Seeing Heidi’s card using the Wild About Flowers stamp set reminded me that I’d borrowed this set from Nanna Papercraft a couple of months ago and hadn’t inked it up yet.  It’s ok – I think she’s forgotten I’ve got it.  Shhhhh!

I’m so glad Heidi inspired me to use it – it’s a beautiful set!

Did you spy the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock & ink?  It’s my favourite 2016-18 In Color.  It coordinates beautifully with Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede and Old Olive.

All new products available from 1st June 2016.  If you can’t wait until then to order more Stampin’ Up!, you can shop for current or retiring products now including the Wild About Flowers stamp set.

Or, if you really can’t wait, join now as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator (it’s a risk free opportunity – more info here) and add the new colors to your $160 Starter Kit.

Stamp Review Crew – Guy Greetings

Guy Greetings Banner

Today’s theme for the Stamp Review Crew is Guy Greetings.  I’m super excited about the inspiration that is to follow – because I really struggle with this stamp set.

It’s one of the few stamp sets made by Stampin’ Up! that comes in all three formats – wood, clear & photopolymer.

This post is part of an international blog hop with projects all themed around the Guy Greetings stamp set.  You might have just come from Tanya Boser’s fabulous post.  Now it’s me and next up is the wonderful creativity of Sue Plote.  Make the round trip & gather inspiration as you visit some of the best!

I’ve decided to make another pop-out swing card (because they are awesome – you can find instructions on Debbie’s blog here) but with a circle front to mix it up a little.

Stamp Review Crew - Guy Greetings stamp set. Pop-out Circle Swing Card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The car image from Guy Greetings is my favourite to use and I find it the easiest to match to a theme.  The tools are a nice side-kick!

To be honest, the shirtless guy just weirds me out – I’m so curious to see if anyone on the hop can make an awesome card that features him!

I do love the sentiments from this stamp set – they are bold & classic and perfect for masculine themed cards.

I had a bit of a play with the sentiments for this card and wanted to share my love of masking tape with you.

Masking is theme over at Just Add Ink this week, so I’m entering my card in their challenge.

The extra item every crafter needs in their toolbox. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

We all have a few non-Stampin’ Up! items in our ‘toolkit’.  Is masking tape in yours?

{Do you call it something other than masking tape? That might be so Aussie!}

I use masking tape all the time.  If you use it gently, it’s great for holding things in place for just a second.

But the reason I use it the most is for masking out parts of a stamp or sentiment when I don’t want them.  It seems a bit extreme to cut stamps (just in case you want them in the original format again – though I have been known to do it on occasion).  Masking makes it so easy to just block out the bit you don’t need.

For this card I needed to break up the ‘righty-tighty, lefty-loosey’ stamp and the ‘to a classic’ stamp because they didn’t fit in the panel or punch I wanted to use.

Using Masking Tape on stamps to change the sentiment. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

To use masking tape on your stamps, simply rip off a piece big enough to cover the area you don’t want to see and put it sticky side down on your stamp.  If it’s close to other lettering, make sure you press the edge firmly down between the letters.

Using Masking Tape on stamps to change the sentiment. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Ink up your stamp and remove the tape before stamping on to your cardstock.  Don’t forget to take the tape off or you’ll get a strange pattern as well as your stamp!

Using Masking Tape on stamps to change the sentiment. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

This technique works perfectly for photopolymer stamps that are easy to line up.

My last tip before I hand you over to the wonderful Sue at This Pink Rooster, is to make sure your stamp is super clean & dry before you start (or you’ll end up with a shadow on your masked part that shows up when you press down).

We’re getting ready to choose stamp sets from the new catalogue for the next months of hop.  I’m so excited to be creating & sharing some new stamp sets!!!  Kelly x
