Perfect Poodles!

Morning (or evening if you are in the other hemisphere!)!  Today I wanted to stop in to share with you a card I made for a friend who needed a way to say thank you to her poodle pet sitter.

Now, I know I say every new Stampin’ Up! product is my favourite… and with my soft spot for DSP, it’s probably no surprise that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the Perfectly Artistic Sale-A-Bration DSP.  Sadly, this is one of three SAB products that are limited edition, which means you may not be able to add them to your order after 15th Feb 2016.  {Yes, I have been doing a bit of stock piling}.

The side with the subtle marbling is my favourite.  You can see it in action in this card as it creates a perfect beach background for my Cameo cut poodles to play on.

Perfect Poodles featuring Perfectly Artistic DSP - Kelly Kent,

Want your own pack of Perfectly Artistic DSP?  It’s as simple as placing a $90 order in my online store.  If you don’t want to shop online, I can help with any order – big or small!  Kelly x

Just Add Ink 295 – I Love You Sew!

Hello!  Have you had a lovely start to the week so far?  We’ve just returned from a lovely camping trip to Molloy Island in the South West of Australia.  It’s a beautiful place I didn’t realise existed until just recently. What a hidden gem!

Camping doesn’t involve stamping, so I’ve had a lot of time over the past few days to think about what my Just Add Ink card will look like.  My starting inspiration for this week’s sketch challenge was a card I saw on Pinterest by Debbie Henderson that used the new two tone Baker’s Twine from the Occasions catalogue and the Love You Sew hostess stamp set to make little thread bobbins – so cute!

This is the JAI sketch…

Somewhere in the midst of the night sky, open air & freedom that camping provides, it occurred to me that the cute little Bow Paper Clips Embellishments from the Occasions catalogue would make great bobbins.

Turns out, I have good ideas when I’m out camping!

Just Add Ink #295 - Sketch Challenge using products from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue: Bow Paper Clips Embellishments, Baker's Twine Combo Pack & I Love You Sew Stamp Set. Kelly Kent -

And then, because I had so much fun making this card with my little bobbin twine clips, I made another card using similar elements…

ESAD 2016 Occasions & SAB Blog Hop – Kettles & More…

OCC & SAB 2016 Blog Hop Header

Welcome to another ESAD Blog Hop.  These are always so much fun and contain lots of inspiration.  There’s 20 crafty ladies in total.  You can hop in which ever direction you like (or at random if that takes your fancy!).  You might be starting here or have come from Carly’s cute projects.  Next stop after this one is Sally – just click on the ‘next blog’ button below.  If you get lost (or want to try the random approach), there’s a full list of participants at the bottom of this post.

I’m putting it out there, this seasonal catalogue is one of the best ones I’ve ever seen!  I {don’t} have one of everything, but it’s been very hard to draw the line on what I *need*, what I {want} and what I absolutely can’t craft without.

My top 3 catalogue buys are:

  1. Wink of Stella in Clear – I have been putting this on almost every card I’ve made since it arrived.  It really is magic!  Can you guess which card from my blog hop projects got the Stella treatment (hint: the answer might surprise you!)
  2. Large Numbers / Number of Years bundle – the size, style & shape of these numbers is perfect to make them a centrepiece on any project and the matching stamp set is just adorable!
  3. Birthday Bouquet DSP (and all the other DSP in the catalogue!) – totally beautiful, do I need to say more?

For today’s blog hop I wanted to show you some ideas I have been stirring up using the Cups & Kettle Framelits dies.  For me, framelit sets are worth buying when I can see the potential in them.  Either as heavy use for what they are made for (like the Large Numbers) or as great builder shapes to be able to make something other than the obvious.

The Cups & Kettle set falls into the second category for me.  As well as the obvious creations you can craft from the suite (paper, ribbon, stamps, trinkets… who doesn’t love a coordinating product range), these cute little framelits offer more than their initial impression.

Have A Cuppa Product Suite

Here’s a traditional card using the cup framelit…

ESAD Blog Hop - Kettles & More... Hello Friend Card - Cups & Kettles Framelits Dies, Hello Stamp Set, Have A Cuppa DSP & Perfectly Artistic DSP.

But then it gets a bit fancier, because the cup can also make a frosty beer mug…

ESAD Blog Hop - Kettles & More... Hello Birthday Boy Beer Card - Cups & Kettles Framelits Dies, Hello Stamp Set, Going Places DSP & Perfectly Artistic DSP.

And this is my favourite…

ESAD Blog Hop - Kettles & More... Hello Baby Card - Cups & Kettles Framelits Dies, Hello Stamp Set, Tin of Cards Stamp Set, Have A Cuppa DSP & Perfectly Artistic DSP.

If you turn the kettle upside down and cut half a circle from the bottom using your 1″ punch, you end up with an elephant.  Finish the shaping by rounding the top corners and cutting part of the handle away.  So much potential in one little set!!!

As well as the great products you can purchase from the Occasions catalogue, there are some fabulous products available for free from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.  Two of my favourites are the Hello stamp set and Perfectly Artistic DSP.  These products are limited edition and only available until 16th Feb 2016.  After this time, they will be retired and Stampin’ Up! will release more limited edition products for you to redeem with any qualifying order.

Limited Edition Sale-A-Bration Products

How do you qualify for a free Sale-A-Bration product?  In Australia, you can earn one with every $90 you spend on Stampin’ Up! products.

Thanks for joining me on the blog hop.  If you are a demonstrator and would like to join our ESAD Facebook page, please contact me.

Happy 2016!!! And a Giveaway!

Happy 2016!  This post is a little later than I’d planned to write it, but 2016 has started off incredibly busy for me.  With no signs of slowing down, now is as good a time as any to step back and take a look at how it all went in 2015.

2015 was a wonderfully successfully year for me.  I was able to build my stamping business, continue to develop my online presence and grow my papercraft skills.  I started classes, added more demos to my team and had the absolute pleasure of presenting a demonstration booth at convention.  I’ve made more stamping friends, shared this wonderful passion with many and delighted in a happy, cup-filling hobby that adds so much to my life.

My blog continued to be a main part of my papercraft journey (hence the name!).  I published 256 posts and was visited by over 50,000 people throughout 2015 with over 100,000 views.  That’s an average of 136 people stopping by to get inspiration every day.  Thanks to each and every one of you!!!

Over half of my visitors are from the US, followed by crafters in Australia and Canada.  Many of you come via Pinterest, but you also arrive via the magical Google and Facebook.  It still gives me a flutter that people Google me or the blog by name!  It also tickles me that over 1400 of you follow me on Pinterest.  And that over 400 people enjoy my work enough to follow my blog!  It’s very awesome!!!

Curious about what people come looking for?  The top 3 posts of 2015 were:

  1. DIY Photopolymer stamp cloth – many thanks to Maggie Made Cards for her wonderful inspiration
  2. Stampin’ Storage – 2015 Marker Inserts
  3. Minion Card – this card was actually published in 2014 but was as popular as ever in 2015!!!  Lots of thanks to Linda Higgins for her inspiration for this card

My top pinned projects were:

  1. Baby Bundle card I made as a convention sample using the Tree Builder Punch
  2. Lotus Blossom Sale-A-Bration sympathy card
  3. Wetlands Window card

Whoa – that was a lot of information! Did you make it this far?  I secretly love stats and figures and often joke I should have been an accountant or an engineer.

As a thank you for all the support in 2015 and to get some ideas for my blog in 2016, I’m running a little giveaway.

Would you like to win a prize pack that includes my mystery Just Add Ink Sale-A-Bration gift (thanks JAI for selecting my card to be the honourable mention!) and a beautiful Occasions 2016 sample pack???

To enter, you must leave me a comment on this post that tells me what you like about my blog and what you’d like to see me post in 2016.

I’ll draw a winner at random on Australia Day – Tuesday 26th January 2016 and announce the winner on my blog.  Postage is included, one entry per person, demonstrators welcome to play too!

Thanks again, it’s very cliche – but I really wouldn’t have come this far with my blog without all your support.  Kelly xxx

Boys Will Be Boys, But Girls Like Lego Too!

My Little Miss Papercrafts have been loving playing with Lego of late.  As well as the traditional Lego, you can also buy ‘girly’ sets now in purple, pink, aqua & a pale yellow – it’s such a lovely colour combination.

So, when it was time to make a couple of birthday cards this week, it was Lego all round – because girls like Lego too!

This is the traditional ‘boy version’ using red, blue & yellow.  The overlapping bricks were done using the masking techqniue of stamping the image onto a post-it note, cutting it out and sticking it over the previously stamped image so it ‘masks’ out the image and they don’t overlap.  I used my blender pen to colour these bricks – otherwise they end up too dark if you just use Stampin’ Write Markers.

And this is the ‘girl version’ with modern Lego colours.  Because the colours from the Subtles Collection are much lighter, I was able to colour the bricks directly using the Stampin’ Write Markers.

Girls Like Lego Too Custom Birthday Card. Boys Will Be Boys & Remembering Your Birthday stamp sets. Kelly Kent -

The Lego lettering was cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  You can download the Lego font here.  There was a bit of fusing around with welding & offsetting but I was so pleased to be able to replicate the style of the Lego logo.

Happy Birthday to the little Lego loving birthday kids.  I hope they love their new sets.  Kelly & the little misses x

Your Birthday It Is, Celebrate You Must!

Today we are off to a birthday party to celebrate Matthew turning 5.  If you’ve been out of action, you might have missed the Star Wars explosion that has happened.

The birthday boy is obsessed with Star Wars at the moment.  I have spent a large part of the past week making Star Wars themed jelly bean boxes for his party favours.  I know his Mum loved them, but I bet you could give 5 year old their jelly beans in an old sock and they’d still be happy!!!

This is his birthday card – a Cameo / Stampin’ Up! hybrid card styled on the Star Wars logo.

Star Wars themed birthday card. Jedi font cut using Silhouette Cameo (Jedi font) & Stampin' Up! supplies (including Perpetual Calendar stamp set). Kelly Kent -

You can find the Stars Wars font here – Star Jedi.

The stars are from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set & heat embossed in clear – how cool do they look against the black background???

I am loving my new Occasions catalogue but it was strangely comforting to make a card using some old favourites!

Happy Birthday Matthew, may the force be with you (or your Mum for hosting 20 5-year-olds!).  Kelly & the little misses x

Just Add Ink – Back for 2016 “Something New”

Just Add Ink is back for 2016.  If you follow me, you’ll know that JAI is my favourite challenge blog.  New challenges appear on a Friday and you have until Wednesday night to enter.  Each week is a different theme, sketch, colour combination or inspiration – so much variety and always a great place to start for a unique design.  Plus, the design team are super talented and make awesome cards!  Jump over and have a looksie!

The first challenge for 2016 is to Just Add Something New.  This isn’t too much of a challenge for a die-hard Stampin’ Up! fan like me – I have a ever-growing stack of new pretties from the just released Occasions catalogue.  And would you believe, some that I haven’t even inked … until now!

For my cards, I have used the same materials & varied the layout.  This gave me three cards (with designs 2 & 3 being the quickest cards I’ve made all week! – and that’s why I love making cards in multiples or sets).
